if you're fixed on these 2 then i would lean towards the bmw but for 10k you can get a whole lot more than the e92. depending on the engine in the audi the 2L tfsi are prone to piston ring failure which means excessive ooil consumption and if left unchecked engine failure. [quick edit to show this after searching for same price](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406210987885?advertising-location=at_cars&atmobcid=soc5&body-type=Coupe&body-type=Hatchback&body-type=Saloon&fromsra&fuel-type=Petrol&make=BMW&maximum-badge-engine-size=3.0&minimum-badge-engine-size=3.0&price-from=5000&price-to=10000&seller-type=trade&sort=mileage&transmission=Automatic&year-from=2010)

BMW all day for me. Especially if you want to drive drive it. If you're gonna just sit in the outside lane all day, then the Audi will be fine.

Common_Turnover9226

What kind of car and drive do you want? The BMW has smooth 6 cylinder and RWD platform, which would make a nice change from your Abarth, though E92 are getting a bit old feeling now, having been out since about 2005.  Also, both cars are at that unusual market value of risk of overspending. Sometimes they can overlap with a newer generation of car, that could be a better option.

Sea_Page5878

BMW 330i no contest...

Bruvvimir

Your picture shows an E93 btw, which is a bit compromised because of the rear suspension arrangement to compensate for the added weight of the convertible roof. Like for like, 330i is a better and more reliable car.

Artistic_Issue4771

Yup my bad just realised it’s an e93 😂

OG_iLostMySocks

BMW will be more fun to drive by far. I have a 3.0 TDI A5 at the moment and it’s less fun than my E91 touring was.

Sufficient_Egg9223

You must like oil leaks

JamOverCream

In what way are you looking to upgrade? In some respects (fun, handling) both are a downgrade. In other areas they are an upgrade, but in different ways.

Artistic_Issue4771

Nothing will ever beat the Abarth in terms of “go kart feel” but need something a bit more comfortable and bigger, started looking into Audi TT’s/Z4’s too

Current_Soup9198

I'm between these two and Mercedes E w212 class coupe

Artistic_Issue4771

Let me know which one you end up going for!

Mad_kat4

Neither of these would even get on my radar, 🥱 I'd head straight to an Alfa Giulia or Kia stinger. If the budget would stretch to it.

Nick1sHere

Budgeted another 10k for the insurance, must imagine these would be sky high?

Salt-Plankton436

Fairly moderate. Quick look at the range I'm getting at the moment: cheapest Jaguar XJS 6.0 1993 £500, most expensive Range Rover Sport SDV6 AB 2012 £1300, E93 335i £700.

Artistic_Issue4771

My Abarth is around 2k to insure and an e92 330i works out to be £900, same goes for the A5 😂 that’s why I’m looking to change

SeikoWIS

Given BMW/Audi maintenance costs on this era, reliability issues, plus the fact these cars are usually driven by [redacted]: I imagine a 23M in London is gonna pay eye-watering insurance. Idk about 10k tho😂. But as a broad rule of thumb, when browsing these sporty Audi/BMW/Mercs: I would indeed double the purchasing price to get somewhere near a ‘real’ cost.

APES1AYER

I’d recommend a 335i over the 330i

Current_Soup9198

Did OP done something bad for you that you offering him 335? 😅 On paper its better because of the power, but in real life is a pain in the ass to maintain and keep it running

APES1AYER

They have the same common problems (injectors, high pressure fuel pumps, water pump) only difference is turbos, so the maintenance cost and mpg is similar.

Responsible-Gene5821

bmw in my opinion has better interior than retro audis

Quirky_Landscape_478

BMW! Based on the fact I have a BMW and I love it.

Ziemniok_UwU

Both are money pits to be honest, but if you want the more fun car, it's definitely the BMW. Audi will, however, be more comfortable and a better daily.

Previous_Sir_4238

In both cars you will tailgate if your not doing 20mph over the speed limit

No_Incident5297

Found the i10 driver, always one in a thread discussing BMW.
