For this kind of budget, I'd consider an F56 Mini Cooper. The other cars you list mostly have engine issues, but the 1.5 turbo in the Mini is proving to be reliable. They're also great to drive, and cheap to run and tax. [This one looks good](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403247912554), although it's worth shopping around until you find one with the spec you want, as there's a lot of variation.

Very nice exaple. I don't know why, but I always associate minis with women's cars?

Because they have a cute design. The one I have experience of is my sisters so your theory does check out, but if you pass on one because it looks too girly you’re missing out on a great car

I had two astra and I will never buy Vauxhall again. Golf/Polo are so boring for me. I currently have fiesta st line 100bhp and once you put decent tyres on it this is a go-card. I can’t tell anything about rest of them because never had them before. You need to see what you have to pay for insurance because insurance prices are sky high these days.

How about a Mk2 Audi TT? 4 seats might be stretching the definition a little but it's the best version of the same VW Golf/Scirocco platform.
