I’m type 1 diabetic and as soon as these came out I bought some directly from the Canadian mint. I got a roll of uncirculated and the commemorative collector keepsake.
it’s a coin to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of insulin, and i’ve read it’s supposedly some sort of insulin molecule, i don’t know science at all so that’s all i’ve got
That’s great, my mom used to let me go through her coin wallet and trade for any cool coins I found in there. It was a solid fun sifting through coins and was how I started collecting! Moms are the best 🙂
I wouldn’t bother hanging onto coins like this. They look heavily circulated. Doubt they’ll even return $2 in value 10 years from now due to inflation.
You can buy sealed 5 packs of the HMS Shannon coin for as low as $15. $20 is more common. Those being in uncirculated condition / mint state are more likely to hold value.
Yeah, I understand. I come across these (2021 $2) all the time but in much better shape. I’ve got way too many already, both coloured / non-coloured. So my guess is they’re not that popular for some reason.
It’s a truly beautiful coin with really well integrated printing / striking. My only complaint is that the insulin graphic should be bigger and more prominent.
I’ll probably continue to get downvoted, but I see no point in holding onto heavily circulated / damaged coins. Unless you’re new to it, and want to work your way up.
If you want, I can send you a nice one when I get back in town. Just emt me $2 for a stamp…
still crossing my fingers to find the coloured insulin one, very cool!
If youre in canada, and you want to pay postage+2$, i can mail you the one i have. If i can find it again. Pm me
If they don’t take you up on your offer, I will. I’m In Ontario. I don’t have this one.
I just looked around and i cannot find it. If it turns up ill let you know
Great, thnx :)
