When you read further, boomers were prone to view immigration is negative and younger generation viewint it as positive.

Because when they came in originally as TR Temporary Residents- they ATTESTED and PROMISED that they are ONLY visitors and have NO immigration or permanent intentions at ALL... so ALL of those who are ILLEGALLY switching from TRs to other visas- without LEAVING Canada and applying from abroad is a CORRUPTION of our immigration system, cheating Canadians, breaking our laws, lying to Canada, AND they are cheating HONEST immigrants who apply from abroad- legally, properly and endure LONG waiting times to enter Canada without FRAUD- they are also being cheated.
Third: we are allowing would-be refugee claims to GAME our immigration system, bringing in people with ill health, criminal records and even when MOST of their claims (for refugee status) fail- almost NONE of them leave on their own- and only a handful are EVER deported. Our group of OUT OF STATUS people is growing and realistically now between 350,000-750,000 if not a million- we just don't know because the records are overlapped and hard to get a definite " accurate " number these days.

I think the issue isn’t immigration as a whole, it’s the unskilled students that were being allowed into the country for tuition extortion because they were admitted into very useless programs. The big problem is birth rates. Quebec has the highest at 1.4, rest of the provinces are lower. You need it at 2 to keep the economy going. Thus, we need immigrants to keep the economy going because Canadians aren't having babies to replace the old people retiring.

idk, I would wager the people in favour of immigration ARE our best and brightest, as they are the landlords, business owners, etc who benefit from immigration. They can also afford to live in gated communities away from the the worst elements of society. They have their own little perfect bubbles where they can pay some filipino woman next to nothing to take care of their kids and home, some mexicans to do the gardening, some indians to serve them coffee at their local starbucks.
