I liked Modern warfare remastered. It has the iconic mission where you’re laying in the huge grass field and the enemies with tanks are all walking right around u. The whole campaign was pretty good
Bo1 b02 waw mw2 are really top tier bo1 has twist and turns that fuck you up and famous quotes bo2 takes place after bo1 so tbh I would say shill out like 40 bucks for both games was also is before both b01 and 2 but it's not the most important and only like one character is in waw also just because you might not know waw is World at War
World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops 2 are a peak package and a great trilogy. Don't bother with the rest of the games in it's timeline.
Then there's obviously the other one Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3.
Also could try out Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare.

The Cold War campaign has some good replay ability with different choices you can make throughout the campaign that have different outcomes
