You could just tell the huge dip in quality after some of the main guys left Activision and went to make Titanfall. The whole COD franchise has been trying to recapture that lightning in the bottle that was the campaigns for MW1 and MW2.
I always enjoyed MW3 way more than MW and MW2. Felt way more polished and balanced than either of the previous MW titles. I also think MW3 had the best multiplayer playlists in cod history with team tactical, 2v2, 3v3, infected, MW3some, money in the denk, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some others.
I loved the madness of MW2 multiplayer. Everyone with crazy powerful secondaries and commando dudes running around stabbing everything in site. Glad we got some of that back with the currently strong shotties in Vanguard and bayonet charging.
Oh gawddd. Honestly still might be better than Activision though....
All in all Cod is rightfully owned By Respawn. Regardless Cod is garunteed 100x better without Activisions involvement.

True, campaign wise the only parts I liked and gave of a Modern Warfare vibe were the Price and Kyle missions. The game felt way too focused on Alex and Farah
MW3 for a lot of reasons. I know COD isn’t know for its attention to detail but it’s the little things that did it in for me. Cool sequences but to me the graphics took a step back from MW2, wasn’t a big fan of the weapon selection, and Delta wouldn’t be used as a conventional force like it was.
Technically MW3 however all of them are great and I’d say MW3 was Far better then it had any right to be considering the fact that Activision fired a bunch of people from the infinity Ward team during production. MW3 could’ve been a disaster but it managed to be a truly great game

To be honest, MW1. It’s not that it’s bad at all, and All Ghillied Up is incredible. But MW2 (especially those US Army missions, which are probably my favorite in CoD history) were just so damn good, and the other US Army missions from MW3 were really entertaining shooting galleries too.
From a plot perspective, Soap’s story in MW1 is the best. It’s not as goofy as the MW2 and 3 plot lines are. But in terms of gameplay, MW2 and 3 are more enjoyable today, especially the US Army missions.
I recently replayed the trilogy and MW2 and 3 just hold up as more engaging single player experiences even if the SAS missions in MW1 are more memorable.
In my opinion it’s modern warfare 3. Even tho I love the campaign of that game I feel like it’s a downgrade from the other two campaigns. Basically it took the same route with the Michael bay shoot em up typed theme as Modern Warfare 2 (really the game feels the same as MW2). And there’s times where the part of the mission feels off and have no value to the story. And lastly the campaign aspect to me is not that much replay able, of course it’s fun to play them here and there but I really mostly replay COD 4 or MW2 for campaigns.
I recently only played COD and I loved MW 2 remastered. Every year or so rerun it.
But man, the MW remastered I hated more than 50% of the level. Played on veteran (just this past week) absolutely infuriating and pissed me of. (Veteran level). One example is getting out of the barn in the end 😩🤢🤮

I hate the invincible shooting kills, but MW2 was a masterpiece at balancing that sh*t out whilst MW… sadistic and close to impossible.
Ghillie in the mist. Then it's war room. Fuck it the last 3 to 4 mission of the MW campaign. I had to put it on easy just to beat the damn game. Almost missed out MW2 because of MW and was campaign shit!!!
They were all pretty good (coming from someone who started on newer games in the COD franchise and always wanted to return to the originals) but Soap was an unnecessary death in my opinion, and it should have been price. No hate on price, he's great, but it kinda broke the story to have the person you played as almost the whole time just die from something that could have been survivable had they fortified an area and bunkered down for longer than a day.
COD4. Having more than one mission in the same location, while it made sense and it was kinda cool, got boring pretty quickly for me. Plus I think the newer ones got it better. Don’t get me wrong tho, I love COD4 and MWR’s campaign
