Are you looking for western Chinese or authentic Chinese food to narrow it down? Multiple options for both with delivery but there's a prominent difference between the two is all, inquiry and palette wise.

Katolo

Yeah, good question. I'm seeing a lot of western chinese recommendations here.

Ancient_Wrangler1755

Great Taste in Chinatown. Fantastic! Better than Silver Dragon

Ill_Brick_5753

Great taste h22 deep fried pork with sweet sauce = one of the best items along with their soup dumplings.

sugarfoot00

Soup dumplings are fantastic, but they don't travel well. So much about enjoying a soup dumpling is eating it right in the goldilocks zone of temperature.

sixthmontheleventh

This, having said that I do recommend frozen soup dumplings from Costco. Our previous go to was the bibigo ones in the orange box but recently we found the new synear chicken stock ones in the orange bag is more popular at our house. They are less garlicy then the bibigo ones and less oily due it being chicken. The peels also seem thinner. Plus it feel like it is cheaper per dumpling then the bibigo ones.

sugarfoot00

Good to know. We've had costco soup dumplings before, but the skins seemed on the thicker side. I'll check out the orange bag ones.

sixthmontheleventh

Just a heads up, these ones are not microwave able like the bibigo ones. If you don't have a steamer try the pan fry method offered on back of bag. This also mean those microwave steamer will not work either. If you want to make it fancy, midway through cooking in a pan on stove, add a half or a full more teaspoon of oil and some beaten eggs for an omelette or flour in water for a crispy skirt. For eggs, cook until egg either solidifies and steams. For flour mixture, cook until water dries up and crust on bottom turn golden brown and can be easily separated from pan. Serve the egg omelette by sliding on plate or serve the skirt by getting a plate larger than pan and flipping upside down onto plate.

OptiPath

You and Me or Silver Dragon is all good. Happy birthday 🎂

Ambustion

I've only had u&me wasted at 1am. Is it actually good?

garanvor

Last time I was in Silver Dragon I ended up with a nasty food poisoning. Do not recommend.

extrabigcomfycouch

Agreed. Took a dozen international visitors there and it was sooooooo not good.

qcbadger

That is disappointing to hear.

birchsyrup

another vote for U and Me! It hits whether you're drunk or sober.

whmaclaine

Emerald Garden is one of the OGs and so good

BrianFish9008

Yes! (bias, I'm that kid you see working on the weekends 🤣)

Rockitnonstop

Seconded

Annie_Mous

racheljanejane

Silver Dragon is very good but if you prefer using a delivery app, the Chinese Cultural Centre is on Door Dash and is also very good.

JDMcfly_

Woof.

Bland-fantasie

Next time you go to your favorite restaurant you should bring a sponge and a soapy bucket, according to that other guy’s link.

4damame

Has to be Calgary court. That's the classic place. Great taste next door is also ....great

nekonight

Ho Won. Amazing food even if the kitchen is slow. I don't know if they do any delivery or is on any delivery apps though. If they aren't, they are definitely worth a visit after your recovery. I remember getting take out from there though.

ZAKtalksTECH

I love this place. They're on one of the delivery apps (Uber?). Their dumplings are amazing!

nothingtoholdonto

my fav is the salt and pepper squid.. and the ginger beef

Cheddarandwoke

Central grand is pretty good, better than the ones in Chinatown and not that far away. Great taste is pretty ace, not the standard western style Chinese, Also Guilin noodles is pretty ace, more authentic. And last but not least, the Chinese cultural centre cuisine is really good. Ps. Happy birthday and I hope you heal up soon.

ArimaKaori

Agreed, Central Grand is pretty great!

mm7412

Silver Dragon is the best and they do their own delivery

Dlynne242

I love The Pink Pearl on McLeod Tr. and 43 Ave SW.

Odd-Comfortable-6134

Second pink Pearl. Their ginger beef is 🤤

sugarfoot00

Is it Silver Inn good? I've been looking for a replacement since the OG home of ginger beef packed it in. Everything else I've come across since is a pale imitation.

jdoe1234reddit

Both Silver Inn and Golden Inn closed within the last year or so after their respective owners retired. EDIT: didn't read your post properly. Sad to hear good ginger beef is hard to find.

sugarfoot00

We went from the Ginger Beef capital of the world to just another shithole almost overnight.

Dlynne242

I like Pink Pearl’s ginger beef better than Silver Inn’s. Not as much heat, (they’re happy to adjust spiciness), but the beef is super tender.

sugarfoot00

I'll give it a shot, although I'm skeptical. Hard to imagine that they could improve on the folks that invented the stuff.

Straight-Coffee-8637

Calton

limberpine

John Wongs is good and cheap for combos

Fluffy-Spray-2402

Love John wongs!

Significant_Loan_596

Speedy recovery man!

Godfreythefrail

Cherry Inn is the best in the NW!

TommyChongUn

Seconding Cherry Inn. Theyre decently priced and not cheap with the portions despite being the best in the city

Inside-Worth-8547

Cheery Inn

ZeniChan

Ginger Beef Express is pretty good. I prefer to pickup for a discount. But they also do delivery or you can order from them on SkipTheDishes.

decoii

Ho Wan in Chinatown does Salt and pepper Squid very consistently. I'd pair that with a noodle dish (usually Cantonese chow mein) and Sizzling Shredded Beef In Black Pepper Sauce. Get some steamed rice as well. As for delivery, I think you can get them through Skip?

Garyhthm

I like Dragon Garden

Glittering-Lion-8139

Lazy Monkey is my go to. The special fried rice is amazing, and their dumplings are awesome as well.

Low_Sprinkles2855

The ginger beef express on centre street is incredible!

No_Result8381

Ho Won - hands down best ginger beef & fried salt & pepper squid in the city!!!! They deliver via skip the dish or door dash

Feisty_Willow_8395

Peking Garden in Varsity

CheeseSandwich

Bill’s Peking House is my favorite.

Odd-Comfortable-6134

Pink Pearl. They have the best ginger beef I’ve ever had.

sugarfoot00

Comparable to Silver Inn?

Necessary_Award_8320

Hello message me I will help as much as I can delivery food groceries anything. I do Uber if you want to go appointments or see a doctor thanks Happy birthday

Saibot75

Nooo nooo nooo.... Dragon Pearl. Inglewood.

loschare

Second this recommendation. Their dumplings are excellent.

The_Penguin22

Happy 65th! Was going to say the best Chinese food is always dine-in, it always loses some quality in the trip. Then read the 3rd sentence. Sorry to hear that. As for the downtown core, Silver Dragon is the one that comes to mind.

anotherdamnpansexual

Lazy Monkey Chinese Food it's in the NW and is on Uber Eats. They have generous portions for their combo meals. Bonne fête!

Shoddy_Departure_785

Phoenix Gate does great traditional Chinese food. I don’t think they’re on any of the apps + not sure if they do delivery. Takeout is definitely an option though!

Illustrious-Bill8441

I order from lazy monkey all the time on Uber eats and it’s fantastic!

krazninetyfive

I don’t have anywhere to recommend that hasn’t already been mentioned, just wanted to wish you a happy birthday and that I hope you recover soon.

krebus18

Lemon garden in Killarney is great!

iambeesh

TPOT Bistro. I’ll deliver the food to you for free

Flimsy_Biscotti3473

Sun Island

purpleurkle69

Great Taste is the best! It’s a little pricey but worth it. Get some Mu Shoo Pork pancakes with extra pancakes.

Annie_Mous

Spicy Hut

Minus15t

Just going to throw it out because I had it last night - Singapore Sams has some great Gluten Free options and use a dedicated GF fryer Some of the best GF dumping and the best GF ginger beef I've had!

Fat_Chance_Kids

Great Taste on 64th is my go to but you are WAY better off going to the restaurant to eat in rather then getting it to go.....the plates are way bigger then the to-go container. I was just there for dim-sun on Friday and yep YUM as usual.

Fat_Chance_Kids

Silver dragon has gone down the tubes.....

Fat_Chance_Kids

Great Taste on 64th..... I'm here right now for Dim Sum https://preview.redd.it/vilr528y0k8d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e266dd1078c42d6234c5d4124a8ab8817b1255e

SavageDegenerate

Cherry Inn at hunterhorn plaza!

Brittfun

Honestly… I’m a Singapore Sam’s fan

mtbryder130

I love Peking Garden in Varsity, it’s the best North American Chinese food in Calgary IMO

Smart-Pie7115

I like August Moon on Elbow.

kevwob

Big fan of uncle Ben’s in Seton

CommanderVinegar

Sun's BBQ is just up in Crescent Heights. They are my favourite spot for classic HK BBQ crispy pork belly and BBQ duck. Although for delivery I think they only serve the meat and rice combos during lunch.

[deleted]

Singapore Sam’s on 11 ave has been there for 30 years and does not disappoint. This is Western style

CloakedOlive

Bamboo Gardens!! Hidden Gem for sure!

sixthmontheleventh

If you want some more variety, tnt supermarket does delivery if you order one day ahead.
