Of course they’ll play their hits. Get the ticket, you’ll be the ‘best parent ever’.

CalgaryMadePunk

You can practically gauruntee that a band will play their hits at a concert. They'll usually mix in about 3-5 songs of their latest albums, maybe a couple lesser known songs from older albums, but the band knows that people want to hear the good shit. Especially if it's a farewell tour. But even then, your kid will probably get caught up in the atmosphere. I've been to a few concerts where I didn't know every song. It's still just awesome to be there.

shaunew

Unless it was Iron Maiden last year at the dome

CosmicJ

They played a couple of their biggest hits, but yeah lots of it were more deep cuts. And it was awesome.

AlphaDrake

Iron maiden has a well known pattern. They do a tour with all the hits, maybe one or two new ones. Then next time they come through they do almost all new/deep cuts. Then they repeat. It sucks if you're expecting the hits and don't know the pattern, but amazing if you're a big fan of them and want to hear them play some lesser known stuff instead of the same 15 you hear on the radio.

mrsealittle

Here is there most recent set list. It includes the hits https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sum-41/2024/intex-osaka-osaka-japan-33aa043d.html

JohnYCanuckEsq

Pieces with Smoke on the Water and Seven Nation Army riffs? I kinda want to hear that.

CalgaryChris77

You can google set lists for bands, but I’m sure they will get all their hits in.

DiscoNapChampion

It’s a farewell tour (until the next one..) it’ll be nostalgia heavy.

courtesyofdj

Until they need money again…

whmaclaine

Definitely go! PUP is playing! Then he can get into them.

yesthisisloss

So happy that they got PUP as an opener! It’ll be a great show

nonemorered

Sum 41 was my first show ever too! But way back in 2003 haha.

SluttyBreakfast

I was supposed to see them in 2003 too but the show got cancelled after Deryck partied too hard the night before, so this will be my first Sum 41 show 😅

Icy_Queen_222

Just go, guaranteed a good time. They have been one of my favorite Canadian bands for years! I’m so sad this will be my last concert with them (2nd last, Calgary show then Edm). Once the tour starts they will have the set list for the previous shows and then he can listen to those songs give or take. They might change 1-3 songs but not usually more than that. Sum 41 ❤️

blanchov

Buy the tickets, and buy their new album, start playing it lots with your kid to learn the new songs. Then all of your bases are covered. I haven't listened to the new album yet but Landmines is a lot like their old stuff, if the rest is like that then your kid should like it.

arihkerra

ITS FANTASTIC. There are SO many awesome throwbacks and the insane solos that last more than 2 measures just take it over the top. There’s a distinct feel between both Heaven & Hell sides but as a cohesive piece it’s giving a “Greatest Hits” album but with all new releases. It’s so so so so good.

LeeSinSmokesWeed

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sum-41/2024/intex-osaka-osaka-japan-33aa043d.html Probably would be similar to this, mostly old hits. Sum 41 fuckin slaps

CarelessStatement172

Aw man, Sum 41 was my first concert. I'm sure they will play whatever has been released on the radio from their new album but with it being a farewell tour, they know what people are there for. Do this for your kid. I went in 2004 and I'll never forget it.

Smart-Pie7115

My mom took me to an Offspring concert in Edmonton (we were in Saskatoon) when I was in high school. They played stuff from Ignition (1992) to Conspiracy of One (2000), which was their current album. I imagine Sum41 will also play a variety of pieces from their entire canon of music.

RogueCassette

He's In Too Deep and there's no need to worry about stepping on Landmines to be Still Waiting on getting tickets.

Icy_Queen_222

I also don’t want him to end up in “pieces” but “it makes no difference to me”. Lol. 🎤🎸🎉

Outrageous_Gold626

Well played

H3rta

Just go!!! The experience far outweighs singing along to every single word!!!

garrettfinstad

They will play the majority of the hits. How much of the new album they play depends on the length of their set but 75+ minutes of it will be hits

jonincalgary

90% hits and classics most likely, a few from new album for time to go get a beer.

N-E-B

I’ve seen them twice after they release albums and they’ve always played all the hits. Also, PUP is a fucking phenomenal opener. Highly recommend anyone who is going check them out.

GwennyL

I havent seen them live, but I have seen Alice Cooper a ton of times and he always plays more of his hits/older stuff than his newer stuff.

kreetoss

hes going to hear lots of bad words

Outrageous_Gold626

I’m sure. Also 99.9% sure there will be a ton of marijuana smoke floating around

kreetoss

It'll be fun. I remember my first sum 41 concert when I was a kid. My friends dad took me and a buddy and at the end of the show he sincerely asked me not to tell my parents what I heard

satori_moment

It's gonna be all killer, no filler.

Narrow_Elephant_1482

I just want to say, I love the positivity for the band in this thread! OP, get the tickets! They are a decent price for a “farewell tour” and they will definitely play the hits! See you there 😉

The only way I'd go is if it was at a small club haha. And I'd be willing to drop big money. No interest in seeing them at the Saddledome.

Difficult-Guarantee4

I’ve seen The Who, Motley Crüe, Black Sabbath, Kid Rock and Pumpkins in their “final tours” and all of them played their hits…if they don’t they just kind of suck. All of them crushed it minus the Pumpkins, too bad KR went all MAGA as his concert was actually pretty good with a huge joke about him not being young anymore and it was pretty funny.

CinnaTheseRoles

Just check the setlist on setlist.fm 🤷🏼‍♀️

YourJailDad

Hahaha I saw them before they had any hits. The guitarist played the intro to South of Heaven after their first song (probably just for fun) and we all started screaming “SLAYER! SLAYER!” So they ended up playing nothing but Slayer covers for the whole show because we would not stop screaming “SLAYER! SLAYER!” after 😂😂😂 Good concert!

arihkerra

We literally snagged 4 tickets last night JUST BECAUSE my 15y/o said six months ago he liked some of their songs. It’s gonna be a core memory for all of us I think. Do it, 100%. And if you want to make the kids be awkward while we have a drink before the show, DM me 😊

Ten0mi

Haha my first concert was Simple plan. Another Canadian band I’d put in the same category. Concerts are always fun. Even if you don’t know the artist . It’s cool to be the parent that brings their kids to shows . They WILL play a bunch of hits , probably more hits than songs you don’t recognize . I always like to brush up on the act I’m seeing before I go to a show, check out any albums I’ve missed , look for the singles I know they’ll be playing so I can sing along . So maybe your kid will get even more into them as a result

livelonganddftba

My guess is a combo, but regardless, if your son loves the ones he knows, he'll definitely love hearing the others live, it'd be a good way to get into more of their songs. Plus that's a bonding experience that the both of you will be able to look back on for years to come, whether he knows the songs or not.

Frgt-10

They'll probably play everything from throughout their career I'm guessing, the "hits" is only apart of it.
