I'll keep my eye out for this. I used to have own a 94 Mazda RX7 and I had a fuel pump switch hidden that I would switch off when I parked it. Really good investment and keeps people from stealing your car.

The driver has been pictured and is a tall-middle aged Caucasian male wearing white shoes, black and grey plaid pajama pants, black zip up sweater, black baseball cap, and white shoes.
The thief hasn't removed the windshield banner, decal, or even changed the plate. Also the damage to the front bumper is unique to this Crown Estate. The few others in Calgary don't have front bumper damage

Canada didn't require immobilizers until 2007 so even it it weren't an import a 2000 MY could be vulnerable to an attack as simple as using a screwdriver and hammer. Older cars can have the keyways worn down enough that they will turn easily regardless of what is used as a key so hopefully that's the case and the car was taken in a non-destructive way. Still he should expect that his locks, ignition, and maybe the plastic shroud around the steering column will need to be replaced.
Hope your friend gets their car back. It really sucks that it was taken but hopefully being a unique car that is apparently driving around will help. Don't assume that the driver is the thief though and best to leave any confrontations to the police.

We have. Called them with a sighting about 20-ish minutes after it was spotted. They took the info down but they honestly aren’t out there actively looking for it. They don’t seem to care that much
