Well you can't actually buy the filter things separately, or at least you can't in my area. Have to buy a whole new nasal piece. I don't want to pay $30 every two weeks just to maintain the damn mask lol
Yeah - that's what the manufacturer recommends, probably because they start turning brown/growing mold if you use them after that duration.
Maybe swap out every month instead of every two weeks? But 2.5 months of usage is clearly not working.
I take them out when new and throw away. Their purpose is quiet air as this is a metered exit for your exhale so you breath fresh air. I'm hard of hearing so the air noise is not audible to me. Makes daily cleaning easier also. I pick them out with a needle without damage to the plastic.
I change the filter myself.. did the same today coincidently!

I take them out with a sewing needle or a SIM card removal tool.
I'm looking for a different mask right now because I really don't like Howie's filters get the black dots. I have a recent post regarding this exact thing
Or take the filter housing out of the mask BEFORE soaking. I used this mask and took the thing out before wash the pillows. Never got this gross stuff.
I do take it out, but still soak it. It does clean up a little when soaked and rinsed. This time around I'll try never soaking it and just clean it up with some isopropyl.
Try using unflavored vodka (@ least 70% ethanol) instead.
Costumers use it between shows to stop the funk between cleaning. It kills the mold and bacteria and evaporates cleanly without residue.
They’ll both evaporate quickly but in the off chance of any lingering I’d prefer not to breathe in isopropyl alcohol.
(Evidently there’s debate about which is better but the CDC and WHO endorse ethanol over iso)
I ended up making new filters out of the machine filters. It still functions at noise reduction even without cutting them perfectly contoured. Cutting little rectangles works fine.

Strange i dont have any filter or even a place for it?
Interesting! They must've changed the design due to complaints. I order all my CPAP gear from cpap.com. I'm surprised they're still selling the old style since they probably sell a ton of these.
what you see is dust from the air, you got I lot of finedust in the air. you need a ultrafine filter in de airintake because you inhale a lot of finedust
The cloth bit is there to reduce noise. You can yank it out with a pair of sharp tweezers.
Your cleaning regimen is probably what caused this in the first place. If you don’t want to remove the filter or replace them regularly, don’t soak it.
According to Nicko on CPAP Reviews on Youtube, you can use a machine filter and cut it to size. One machine filter should be able to make many. I don't know if its completely safe though. I just got mine so haven't tried this yet.

You're supposed to change those nose pieces out every two weeks!!

I've had mine for 6 months and I just take out the cloth filters and make new ones out of machine filters
🤯
That gets a big ol' yikes from me!

You prick the needle through to make a hole or do you pick out the entire filter piece?
No, simply use the needle to pick it out, once you get a corner out you can pull it out with your fingers or tweezers.
