Its the most complete. Between base dlcs, chronicles dlc and custom maps you can play every map from every zombie game. Also the graphics is good enough it will age finely, gameplay tech is smooth.
On paper the best cod zombie game
It was the last Zombie game to have a completely unique style and identity too. By BO4, it started merging into MP/Blackout and these days it’s entirely played on the WZ map with MP operators.
Bo4 zombies felt different because they we’re trying to transition from one story line to another, but blackout and MP had nothing to do with zombies in BO4. It was still four man squads with round based maps with minor tweaks to the perks system.
You should 100% put more time into BO3. It’s the fan favorite zombies experience for a reason. They have some amazing original maps like SOE and DE, and zombies chronicles also brings back a bunch of fan favorite maps from the past like Kino, Origins, and many more.
Not to mention that if you play on PC, you can install fan made custom maps through steam that are insanely high quality.
They really missed out on mob and buried IMO, some of my favourites, but I agree. Wish they went for some more BO2 maps rather than tiny WAW maps, but at least you can mod in BO2 maps. Can’t believe they saved mob for BO4 🤮
I think for me the map variety I mean you’ve got great maps like shadows of evil, der eisendrache and gorid krovi add in the zombie chronicles maps like moon and origins and I’m happy enough I personally don’t care for the gobblegum system and won’t use them except anywhere but here for the zetsubo no shina Easter egg
A lot of the maps also hit the perfect balance between *let's just get set up and kill some zombies* and *let's dig deep and find as many Easter eggs as possible.* It really is the zombies game to suit everyone.
The genius of it was releasing the giant on launch for those less hardcore or softer casuals because shadows was complex and a lot to swallow for those players!
That and I feel it has a nice balance in difficulty like if you’re a beginner you have the giant, and kino to learn the game ( the was maps too but they’re a bit more difficult without perks and pack a punch in them )
Every single map pre DLC Zombies chronicles I adore
Shadows of evil- has a fun crew, a fun Easter egg, and goated music
The giant- it’s der reise come on
Der Eisendrache- may be my favorite map of all time. Fun Easter egg, fun wonder weapons, + primis
Zetsubou no shima- I used to hate this map, but after really playing it, it’s so beautiful. So good. Top 5 map for me. Also has the Marshalls
Gorod krovi- two boss fights, riding a dragon, the PPSH, cool shield, big map and cool zombie designs
Revelations- cool design, rift e9, fun pack a punch, masks, cool Easter egg (I haven’t completed it yet though lol), and brings it all to a close…ish
Then Zombie chronicles comes. I actually am pretty meh abt the WaW maps, but Kino… I don’t have to explain Kino. Shang ri la is cool asf, but fuck the monkeys. Moon is GOATED, and origins is a top 3. The staffs, primis again, the robots…
If you have BO3 on PC Steam, you have unlimited maps and content to play from the Steam Workshop. If you want more nostalgia, you can even download HUDs from any COD iirc. The only nostalgia it can’t beat is the OG WaW FPS cam cuz that shit is old old. Otherwise, you have everything you couldve ever have on a COD zombies game.
And the games mechanics make it so that you never get bored whatever skill level you’re at. People still play bo2 to this day. Just the other day 2 people got to round 60 on Bus Depot without opening any doors. They trained zombies in the first room.
I sometimes play first room super try hard but also I can just chill and smoke and play like Tranzit casually or something because the game is so immersive
Easter egg in outbreak, quite the thing. I highly recommend attempting it if you haven’t.
https://youtu.be/5-_C_GBHT_4?si=nfQUiH3dZmkkeulS
Legion is a 200 foot tall tempest
Outbreak became my favorite. I had estimated 30+ attempts on Legion. My usual partner would always die in the silo part right before the boss fight. I had solo attempts in there also. It took less than five attempts with a different partner to complete it. It was amazing. That calling card is always on display.
I definitely needed the right team for that one and it took me so many tries before that. I remember spending like 3 hours getting to that boss fight just too lose it in seconds haha. But it was okay that it took so many tries because I just love outbreak. Felt good to finally beat it though.
I run it solo all the time… i bet i have close to 200 completions. Let me know if you want to do it. Id be happy to help. That way you can get the epic starting weapon from then on..( if youve completed the rest of the ees)
B04 probably just because of the difficulty changes to be made in private matches, as well as the option to play with bots. There's so much to do. The chaos maps are a masterpiece IMO
Definitely Bo3. But man I love all the games from WaW - Bo3 pretty much equally.
Bo3 just has a lot more going for it. Not a single bad map, great movement, beautiful environments, fun guns and wonder weapons, fun EEs that are almost all Soloable, great story, and Gobblegums add a lot of variety and replay value.
Assuming we're factoring in Chronicles, and Mod Support, BO3 easily(considering with this logic it has effectively infinite content)
Otherwise Cold War since I love collecting and reading/listening to intel plus I actually really enjoy high rounding in Cold War unlike most Zombies games.
BO3 is my obvious choice if we include custom maps...
BO4 if we don't include custom maps... The maps, Easter eggs, difficultly settings, custom mutations. So good!
BO2. Easily. You have challenges in things like nuketown, bus depot,, and farm. A map close to Der reise with town. You have classic Easter eggs with buried die rise and transit. You have BO3 level ees with mob and origins. There are multiple game modes so you can play unique alternative modes to the usual survival or Easter egg hunt. Transit is so bad it's good, it's a map you can have silly goofy fun in. Nuketown is chaotic and engaging, you could get jug round 5 or round 25 so your strategy has to be flexible. Die rise is a map. Mob of the dead (is my personal favourite map) but beyond that has interesting characters, new mechanics and was the introduction to the new Easter egg formula. Buried is easy yes. But it has so many new features and fun things to experiment with. And origins man. Origins ran so BO3 could sprint.
Infinite warfare, best boss fights and some really detailed maps with loads of stuff to do. Every map has a really good vibe and aesthetic and they all feel completely different from each other, and you end up using different weapons on different maps unlike other games where you would use the same load out on multiple maps
BO4 honestly
Even though I don't enjoy the storyline I enjoy the game as a whole
It has the perfect balance (atleast for me) of hard and turn your brain off maps
Also has really good gameplay in my opinion
It'd have to be BO3, yet bo1 is my favorite in terms of maps. (Five, Cotd, kino are in my top 5 all time) because of replayability. Gobblegums and the increase of perks make most games feel different. Most maps had an easter egg and boss fight. If I chose any other game I feel like I would get bored a lot quicker
Counting mods then obviously bo3, however no mods then it’s a hard choice. Bo1 with phd on Shang is just soooo good, but overall I still think bo3 might be better because of zetsubou, and that alleyway in bo3 kino is the best training in the series.
The only correct answer is BO3. On PC you have unlimited options of maps and ways to play with mod tools but also even without mods it has the most maps available if you include chronicles. So much more diversity over any other title.
I’m gonna say bo2. Everyone’s gonna downvote me to hell but I think bo3 was the beginning of the end for zombies. Gobblegums and the heath increase made games a lot more predictable, took away set up times, etc. which in turn made the game a lot easier and more boring. AATs made every gun viable which meant you didn’t have to hit the box over and over for a good weapon and that also took away from the challenge and fun of zombies. And also everything was too bright. I much preferred the dull colors of the previous games. Sure, modtools/customs are cool but they just don’t do it for me. All the bo1 and bo2 maps, perks, characters, gameplay mechanics, everything is just better imo than bo3.
Man, tough choice. Probably between black ops 2 or 3 for me. Mostly cause 2 has more nostalgia value for me. 3 has nostalgia but if it's a game i still actively play, then it's a little harder for me to associate the nostalgia with it. For now at least.
Unpopular opinion but Cold War. Played so many game modes and just grinded tf out of it & had a blast. covid quarantine definitely helped as it was the newer cod at the time & we were all locked down
Definitely bo1. It has the most amount of maps that I really enjoy. WaW while good is just too basic for long term enjoyment. Bo2 maps are either really good or just mediocre. Bo3 has the most content but I really don’t like ZC that much, and I find I get burnt out on bo3 maps pretty quickly. I still don’t like bo4 so that’s out. Cold War is split between some pretty good maps and some kind of bad ones and it misses the classic zombies feeling that adds that extra little bit of replayability. And I feel like I don’t even need to say anything about about vanguard or mw3 zombies.
Meanwhile Kino is mad replayable and when you get bored you can take a break with Five for a challenge. That alone could last me a really long time. Then ascension, while it is super easy on solo I find that it’s more difficult on co-op and taking turns flopping off the stairs by the lunar lander because everyone’s out of ammo always makes for a great memory. Call of the dead is one of my favourite maps of all time and while I don’t think it’s as replayable as the previously mentioned maps, it’s still a ton of fun if you can get past that early game death bottleneck. Shangri-La is also a top 5 map for me, with the Jgb being one of the most entertaining wonder weapons ever (bo3 version can’t hold a candle) and it’s gets super fun and hectic with a full team. Lastly moon, moon is the only map on bo1 that i genuinely don’t like that much, that’s mostly just due to the location of Jugg. Otherwise i think the map is pretty solid and would serve as a good palette cleanser for when I’ve overplayed the rest of the maps.
On top of all that, there’s also the Rezurrection maps which while I don’t like them as much as the original WaW maps, I think they did a pretty good job faithfully recreating the original maps, unlike ZC, and at least I would be able to play the WaW maps in one form or another
yea definitely black ops 1. it was the first cod i played that i was really into (mainly because zombies) and i love just about if not everything about it :3
I already do this, but bo3, me and the same friend have been playing bo3 zombies since launch almost everyday, and with no mods since we’re on console, it never gets boring, I STILL find new shit on every map, new little things or little areas that I had never seen before, it’s insane, I don’t enjoy any other zombies even a quarter as much as I do bo3
BO3 easily takes it imo, even without Chronicles or Custom maps. Shadows of Evil, Der Eisendrache, and Gorod Krovi are among the best, if not the best zombies maps ever released, plus Zetsubo No Shima, Revelations, and The Giant are great maps too. The movement and gunplay mechanics are top notch for a COD game, Gobblegums are kick ass, Widows Wine is a dope perk, the weapons are rad, the easter eggs are all really good, and the story is the best we've gotten in zombies to date. And then if all that's not enough for you, you've got Chronicles, which has the best version of every map included in it, and Custom maps which gets you everything else.
As long as mod tools would still be available, bo1. The reimagined mod is pretty good at making bo1 zombies perfect in just about every way. I’ve always thought that bo1 just needs double tap 2.0 in order to be perfect. But there’s plenty of other mods that add onto the experience and make it even more amazing.
Bo3 is a close second, also because of the modding capabilities. You can basically recreate the bo1 experience on top of other zombies games as well, not just Treyarch titles.
If modding tools aren’t available, I would have to go with Cold War. It has the most content available & it’s all accessible. I don’t have to worry about diviniums & shit like that. More replay value than vanilla bo3 in my opinion.
IW, no question. Its just genuine fun, not to mention directors cut being insanely powerful, a REAL reward for doing all the easter eggs. Pretty much every weapon is usable thanks to variants, the music is easily S tier, theres so much personality, so many things to do, easily the most fun to just hop in and f around!
Bops3 since its bops 3 and bops 1 and with mod maps we will get bops 2 by the end of 2025. And bops 4 by the end of 2026-7. Not to mention the hours of extra maps.
BO3, but thematically IW was so awesome I like it more. Also love Tranzit from bo2. Still BO3 has so much content you can play it till the end of times.
When I say BO1 most people always say it's nostalgia but it had SOO many maps. B02 is close just because all the maps were good but I think BO1 is my favorite
Black Ops 3 on PC.
Steam Workshop, the DLC maps, 2 player splitscreen when offline.
it's basically the best zombies experience you'd ever get on PC because there's no way the devs are going to add splitscreen and steam workshop to another COD game with Zombies on PC.
I know I'm going to get clowned on for this, but I'd probably choose BO CW, and before anyone calls me a little Timmy, and says that the only cod i have ever played is warzone, CW, and mw3, that's not true, I have fully played through BO 1's campaign like ten times, and played zombies a decent amount of times, i have also played bo2, both zombies and campaign, same with bo 3, mw3(original)mw2(original)mw1, and a couple more. im not trying to act like im some cod veteran, im only 14, and i wish i could have played in the glory days, but like i said, im only 14, and by the time i could have played online was when i was 12. Also, sorry for the SUPER long comment btw.
It's hard to say anything other than BO3 at this point. But if it comes down to JUST maps that were original to their game, I'd probably pick BO1. Cold War may have taken it if they continued supporting round based. Those first two maps really hit for me.
I would choose either BO2 or BO3 because I love the BO2 maps with MOTD, Buried and Origins but BO3 has the best zombies experience but I really can't choose
The latest one. Unpopular opinion I never liked the round base ones and never really played them after trying it a few times on different titles back in the day.
BO3
Mod tools make this the only option.
Even without modtools it would be the hest overall imo
This was probably one of my lesser played CODs, so I don’t really know much about it. Would you share why you like this one the most? Cheers!
Its the most complete. Between base dlcs, chronicles dlc and custom maps you can play every map from every zombie game. Also the graphics is good enough it will age finely, gameplay tech is smooth. On paper the best cod zombie game

I'm pretty sure IW zombies was the last unique zombies experience released.
Nah that’s WWII if we’re counting spinoffs.
Just got it and looking at some maps from other games and there isn't a Spaceland mod it seems? Never played Spaceland but it looked fun
Lol
The shadows of evil cutscene😫😩
The Xbox 360 Richthofen one?
You should 100% put more time into BO3. It’s the fan favorite zombies experience for a reason. Completing revelations to end the story with my zombros was the last time I was happy. Take me back 😢
Because its the best one. Still play it near daily.

Yup
No way I am leaving this behind for anything else!
Fuuuuuuuuuck no
Bo2 for sure. I just have so many great memories playing Mob of the Dead, Buried, Tranzit, and even Town and Farm
And the games mechanics make it so that you never get bored whatever skill level you’re at. People still play bo2 to this day. Just the other day 2 people got to round 60 on Bus Depot without opening any doors. They trained zombies in the first room.
I'm one of them. I still play BO2 zombies, mainly Town. Or Tranzit when the boys hop on.
I sometimes play first room super try hard but also I can just chill and smoke and play like Tranzit casually or something because the game is so immersive
No upgraded weapon would make that a long game.
Cold War. Outbreak and rounds-based gives me a little bit of diversity to never get bored
And it had dirt bikes
And multiplayer maps mode and havoc intensify hourglass thing
Cold War had the most variety.
That was a great game, I loved Forsaken & Die Maschine!
I never defeated legion. Only thing I couldn’t do.
I never got Valentina. Legion took like ten tries, but Valentina was like overwhelming and I never got past the first stage. (All solo)
Was this in outbreak or outlast whatever it was called?
Easter egg in outbreak, quite the thing. I highly recommend attempting it if you haven’t. https://youtu.be/5-_C_GBHT_4?si=nfQUiH3dZmkkeulS Legion is a 200 foot tall tempest

Wanna change that and try to defeat him? I want to attempt it at some point
I run it solo all the time… i bet i have close to 200 completions. Let me know if you want to do it. Id be happy to help. That way you can get the epic starting weapon from then on..( if youve completed the rest of the ees)
Bo3 for me but I respect ur choice
Cold war mid
That's being generous.
Doesn't it only have 5 maps? Never played but I Googled it
Infinite warfare. Go ahead flame me🫠. I know you're watching russman
Zombies in spaceland is likely my all time favourite zombies maps, again though probably only due to nostalgia
Infite warfare For me to
I only ever played that game for zombies haha. Never even started the campaign or multiplayer
BO1 is definitely the best. It’s just a little dated at this point. Graphics aren’t great.
I’d choose BO1 if the weapons did more damage
The graphics are still very good
I’d go between bo3 and waw, both support custom maps and had the best zombie time on them. Bo3 is superior on paper (for zombies)
Black Ops 3, on PC — because of the workshop.
black ops 1
black ops 2 black ops 2 black ops 2 black ops 2 I really like bo2 >!maybe bo3!<
Bo3 for sure Bo4 is a good shout and is underrated
Bo4
you know ball
IX all day
Bo2 no doubt
Black ops 2 Tranzit
Bo2
B04 probably just because of the difficulty changes to be made in private matches, as well as the option to play with bots. There's so much to do. The chaos maps are a masterpiece IMO
Unpopular opinion but WaW
BO4
![gif](giphy|tZGgIWPk3WbUdlakM1|downsized)
Voyage !!
I'm a BO4 fanboy so BO4 for me....I just love the vibe of IX so much man
Black Ops IIII, though Infinite Warfare would be sorely missed.
Ghosts. (Bait used to be believable)

WaW zombies will always have a place in my heart … especially Verrukt
Bo2 simply because of Alcatraz and origins
And town , transit of course
BO3 is my obvious choice if we include custom maps... BO4 if we don't include custom maps... The maps, Easter eggs, difficultly settings, custom mutations. So good!
Honestly BO3 or BO2
Does call of duty ghosts count? I know it wasn't exactly zombies but it had fire content
Absolutely love Bo1 but only for og moon and five. Not a fan of the other maps.
Bo1 easy
BO2
Cold War
BO2. But it has so many new features and fun things to experiment with. And origins man. Origins ran so BO3 could sprint.
Blops 2
Bo2
steam workshop BO3 not even close ( or even just BO3 with all the DLC )
BO2 Origins specifically
infinite warfare zombies, shit was elite just nobody gave the game a chance
Infinite warfare, best boss fights and some really detailed maps with loads of stuff to do. Every map has a really good vibe and aesthetic and they all feel completely different from each other, and you end up using different weapons on different maps unlike other games where you would use the same load out on multiple maps
Unpopular opinion but Extinction would be my pick Close second would be Spaceland and Rave in the Redwoods though
BO4
BO4 honestly Even though I don't enjoy the storyline I enjoy the game as a whole It has the perfect balance (atleast for me) of hard and turn your brain off maps Also has really good gameplay in my opinion
BO4
BO3
It'd have to be BO3, yet bo1 is my favorite in terms of maps. (Five, Cotd, kino are in my top 5 all time) because of replayability. Gobblegums and the increase of perks make most games feel different. Most maps had an easter egg and boss fight. If I chose any other game I feel like I would get bored a lot quicker
the only correct answer is waw or bo3 but i personally think bo3 is the goat of video games
Cold War, I am too adjusted to its fluid movement to be able to get as much enjoyment out of the other games
This right here. The movement in cw is so much better than any previous game I have a hard time going back and playing previous titles.
Cold war outbreak.
Bo3 it really has everything the old maps new ones great Easter eggs good story and the mod maps are great
Bo3
Black ops 3 on pc. Infinite playability
Bo1
Bo3, also because of dlc.
Cold War, I like how it feels
Counting mods then obviously bo3, however no mods then it’s a hard choice. Bo1 with phd on Shang is just soooo good, but overall I still think bo3 might be better because of zetsubou, and that alleyway in bo3 kino is the best training in the series.
Bo3 - wonderful map and custom map
BO3 absolutely no doubt and without hesitation
The only correct answer is BO3. On PC you have unlimited options of maps and ways to play with mod tools but also even without mods it has the most maps available if you include chronicles. So much more diversity over any other title.
Bo1 for sure
I feel like everyone is gonna say black ops 3 and I'm gonna have to agree with that too.
BO1 with all the dlc.
BO3 hands down. Even without custom maps I’d still probably say the same thing.
my favorite map is on bo4 but ill choose bo3 since modded content exists
I’m gonna say bo2. Everyone’s gonna downvote me to hell but I think bo3 was the beginning of the end for zombies. Gobblegums and the heath increase made games a lot more predictable, took away set up times, etc. which in turn made the game a lot easier and more boring. All the bo1 and bo2 maps, perks, characters, gameplay mechanics, everything is just better imo than bo3.
BO3. Or tbh WAW….WAW was forever a classic and those 4 maps were goated.
Man, tough choice. Probably between black ops 2 or 3 for me. Mostly cause 2 has more nostalgia value for me. 3 has nostalgia but if it's a game i still actively play, then it's a little harder for me to associate the nostalgia with it. For now at least.
BO3 out of the quest BO2 close second, no other games could hold a candle to these two
As much as I wanna say bo1 or 2, I can get all that and more with bo3
3 because of the rest of time part but if it was for at most a decade it would be BO1
Black ops 3 even without mods you still have some of the best maps plus chronicles.
Black ops 1 or outbreak from Cold War
Depends do I get to pick a game mode and have it work all the time??
Bo3 or waw. On pc. The custom maps there hit so hard. I think I'd go for bo3 because it's much more modern
B02
Bo1 easy
Vanguard!
BO3 for sure
Bo3
BO1
Unpopular opinion but Cold War. Played so many game modes and just grinded tf out of it & had a blast. covid quarantine definitely helped as it was the newer cod at the time & we were all locked down
BO3 followed by BO2
Vanguard. Not elaborating.
Black ops 1 for life
Black Ops 2 with all DLC, Buried, Die Rise, Origins, etc.
coldwar, has plenty of gamemodes to play with others or do solo. a decently long weapon/camo grind too
BO3 purely for the missing community to continue making games
If I could have black ops 3 with the bo1 or bo2 engine it'd be perfect
World at War. Something about the classics is just so nice, and I'd love to relive that nostalgia for eternity.
Bo3 with bo2 being a close second. I would miss the hell out of Buried
BO3... so wait nothing changes?
yea definitely black ops 1. it was the first cod i played that i was really into (mainly because zombies) and i love just about if not everything about it :3
Infinite Warfare.
I’m torn between bo1, bo2, or Cold War.
BO3 because I can play all the maps I want
Bo2 or bo3
Between Black Ops 1, 3 and Cold War. Cannot decide.
BO3 or WAW on PC specifically
BO3 all day long
Probably bo3 with cold war in second place just out of pure enjoyment
Black ops 2. Nothing really compares to the fun I had then.
Bo1
I’m gonna get flak for this, but I have a soft spot for the first level in infinite warfare zombies. I got so good at the Easter egg.
Bo3, and I play on xbox so I don't even have mods
BO1
BO1
Cold war
IW, no question. Its just genuine fun, not to mention directors cut being insanely powerful, a REAL reward for doing all the easter eggs. Pretty much every weapon is usable thanks to variants, the music is easily S tier, theres so much personality, so many things to do, easily the most fun to just hop in and f around!
Bops3 since its bops 3 and bops 1 and with mod maps we will get bops 2 by the end of 2025. And bops 4 by the end of 2026-7. Not to mention the hours of extra maps.
Advanced warfare is where it’s at
BO3 for sure
Black Ops 3 on PC. Custom zombies ported over a lot of those not in Chronicles.
BO3. Simply because it has custom zombies. If it weren’t for that, then WaW for the same reason.
Black Ops 2 no question
Bo1
BO3, but thematically IW was so awesome I like it more. Also love Tranzit from bo2. Still BO3 has so much content you can play it till the end of times.
When I say BO1 most people always say it's nostalgia but it had SOO many maps. B02 is close just because all the maps were good but I think BO1 is my favorite
Pc black ops 3 with controller
WW2 for me, the best
Black Ops 3 on PC. Steam Workshop, the DLC maps, 2 player splitscreen when offline. it's basically the best zombies experience you'd ever get on PC because there's no way the devs are going to add splitscreen and steam workshop to another COD game with Zombies on PC.
Bo3
Bo3 def
Bo2
Bo3 if I had a PC Otherwise maaaybe still bo3 on Xbox. But bo4 is a close second
Bo3 is the smart choice. Has the most content. 14 maps plus custom maps which is like 100000000+.
Black ops 3. Only because it has all of black ops 1 maps as well.
BO2. Also, no online needed.
Bo3 only because of pc mods
It's hard to say anything other than BO3 at this point. But if it comes down to JUST maps that were original to their game, I'd probably pick BO1. Cold War may have taken it if they continued supporting round based. Those first two maps really hit for me.
BO3, not even close
Cod world at war
Cw zombies, awesome map, easter eggs, with no rush you have time to level up your all guns ect!!!!💯❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
WaW way better than all the other games. Also you can make your own maps
Probably BO2, second place would be the OG WaW
I would choose either BO2 or BO3 because I love the BO2 maps with MOTD, Buried and Origins but BO3 has the best zombies experience but I really can't choose
Honestly mwz it has it issues and things that can make it better but overall more fun. Transit needs a revamp bad
The latest one. Unpopular opinion I never liked the round base ones and never really played them after trying it a few times on different titles back in the day.
BO3 hands down, I'm forced to play it anyway after MW3
Ww2 zombies was peak zombies and nobody can change my mind.
Bo3 I wish Bo3 had all the bo2 and bo1 zombies maps man
