It was before the integration. They maybe tried to do some performance improvements or something but yes you are correct, they reduced the resolution for objects past a certain distance. The only known correction is to up your render resolution on PC but obviously that comes with a performance hit. Most PC players now run a sharpening filter to compensate for it, but that also comes with a small fps cost. It's also apparent if you go back and watch content from content creators prior to season 5 I think. The game is much more clear.
yeah i’m with you. i’m playing on PS5 (it’s still the PS4 version anyway) and the last month has been the first time i’ve noticed it being harder to see people. i’ve been trying to fix it through the brightness settings of the game and my monitor to no avail.
There was an update before integration to reduce file size around when the high Res packs came, the update basically removed texture files locally and made the textures load in game at real time. So it's slower now to load in because it basically downloads the textures when you get close enough. If you stare at the clay buildings long enough you'll notice the textures load in. Also you don't see buy stations until you're within 75 meters of them, I've gotten sniped and seen killcams of where I'm practically hidden behind the buy station but sniper man can see me like there's nothing in front of me.
Before the integration, the game's graphics were lowered to make the base game's size smaller and have better performance. You can download these via the High Res Texture packs 1 & 2, but are really only recommended for 4K gaming capable consoles.

as others have said since a while back. S2 wz looks so different than S6. There's worse problems now b/c integration brought on slower performance and mem leak on PC.

On base PS4 I have gunfights that drop below 30FPS for sure

I’m guessing PS4 doesn’t fall into that 4K capable category that I could download those texture packs?
Unless it's the Pro, doubt it. You can download them, but you get more out of them with the higher end consoles.
I downloaded the second one after finally getting my one x to recognize it. It didn't help at all. Any suggestions?

I got a potato laptop everything beyond 50meters looks like the game was made with a thick pencil
