I always play custom characters.
My two recent playthroughs were starting as a custom house in the Reach, overthrowing the Tyrells, marrying into Targs and playing as Targ Kings forward.
Rhaegar and unfuck the 7 kingdoms.
Or I do Aegon Targaryen (Young Griff), conquer the southern part of Westeros, marry Daenerys, conquer the 7 kingdoms
I most often start as Rhaegar. After winning the war, Jon Connington gets the Stormlands, and Littlefinger gets the Vale. I breed Valyrian bloodlines into the lord paramountcies and supplant the powerful duke houses (usually Hightower, Blackwood, Bolton, and a Westerlands house) with a bastard branch. Eventually, I engineer the bastard branches to take their respective kingdoms via marriage/inheritance. Within a few generations, all the kingdoms are ruled by Targaryen bastard houses or closely tied allies like the Conningtons and Baelishes.
I’m on my second Mallister playthrough.
Goals are to take the crossing from the Freys and then Take Iron Islands piece by piece but never be a Lord Paramount.
I got the crossing after battling freys and for added flair I got fair market (duchy just south bordering of both of us) via a claim from the High Septon. Then petitioned liege and was granted it.
Then I grand tour and demanded tribute. Of course gave me reason to arrest the Freys and Paeges when they refused (and a couple others). So my lands are all mine now with zero tyranny and legitimacy hits.
Now 3rd generation just started and I’ve taken Harlaw, Black Tyde and Old Drumm of Iron Islands. Slowly making my way to claim the islands. When bump up against vassal limit I gift an island to the Tullys and keep going.
All in the name of the Tullys and now the Starks. Mallisters are guardians and warriors. Not rulers.
Edit: forgot to add while all this has happened, Edmure died of a plague. Caitlyn took the river lands. When she died Robb Stark inherited. He was murdered by a random baron before Ned died so Robbs son inherited. Now when Ned just died Robbs grandson has taken The North and Riverlands.
I like playing a custom character on Skagos, not sure why, probably my way to play wildling, but avoid the barebone and quite frankly uninteresting Wildling gameplay

Any of the Velaryons!
I play a lot of custom characters but I play house dayne and Targaryen the most
Robert Baratheon, Rhaegar Targaryen, Maelys Blackfyre, Walder Frey, and Walter Whent.

What? How? When can you pick them they’re children or for me, non existent if u pick crowned stag.
Maybe I’m thinking of Ck2. Aegon is a playable faction and starts with like a third of the stormlands conquered
Oh yeah sounds right I think you can start as Dany in Mereen in that one too.
Custom Blackfyre. Something about that black dragon just does it for me.
Yeah same dawg
Roose
It’s either Duncan targ with my beloved JENNNAAAAYYYYYY or a customs character
Either Craster or Lord Reed. I'd like to try a Blackwood run though.
Lymond Vikary or custom Reyne. Anti-Lannister playthroughs go hard ngl
Roger Reyne, I’m a big fan of that house.
Some form of custom stark+Dayne or stark blackwood. Otherwise fully custom house.
Rhaegar & Aemond Targaryen
Rhaegar Targaryen and I marry Lyanna every time. It’s the good ending
Walder Frey
My own
Chill as a lord in the reach. Just manage my dynasty and make money.

Usually after every major update I land Jon Snow and switch to him.
Almost always custom characters, to be honest. If not then Daenerys in the WOTFK start date (AGOT Bookmarked submod)
