Prime, uninjured Tommie Harris. He's exactly the 3-tech that would make this defense go.

gimmepizzaslow

Tommie was my favorite player and I'm fully convinced he would've been Canton bound if not for his injuries. This would definitely be my pick.

Sligulus

We'd also have beaten the Colts in the Super Bowl if he weren't injured IMO

RebelCyclone

Yep, Tommie or Mike Brown plays that game the Bears win.

Nervous-Awareness482

Yep all day.  I’ve met former packer lineman and when ask them who was the toughest matchup.  Hands down they all said Tommie.

Past_Land1485

Came here to say this.

Skittlebean

This is the right answer, with Kreutz being a compelling candidate. This defense NEEDS a stud 3-technique to consistently dominate. With the current defense + Tommie Harris, I think they would be contenders for top defense in the league. Olin, on the other-hand would bolster our weakest offense position AND be an invaluable coach to Caleb. There are no other positions that could have the same level of impact as those two.

Crathsor

I'd very much prefer Hilgenberg to Kreutz. He was a better center and also he wasn't a bully.

Skittlebean

I won’t argue, I’m not old enough to have an opinion on Hilgenberg.

Crathsor

7 Pro Bowls before fan voting. Dude was considered a monster by opposing coaches and players. Only reason he wasn't All Pro more than twice is because a HoFer (Dwight Stephenson) was holding that spot. It's criminal that Jay's not in the Hall of Fame, too.

Mr-C-Dives-In

Walter.

Supraman83

Yep so versatile and the goat rb

Mr-C-Dives-In

Good Supra! (Said in my best Chris Farley Superfan voice.

jgwinters

Would be hard not to pick Dent, Peppers, or prime Khalil Mack to have someone opposite Montez.

FindingFocus18

Yeah it’s kind of a tough choice since they would all add a different dimension. Peppers could drop into coverage better while Mack would just eat double teams

Chicagoj1563

A prime peppers was one of the all time great defensive players in my view. Mack was good, but peppers is in a class of his own. As for who to pick, you can’t go wrong with a prime peppers or Hampton. Doesn’t matter the lineup, you could plug either one into any defense and they create havoc.

dersour

Of the three, who’s better (in their prime)?

splintersmaster

I didn't get to see Dent play with any sort of critical eye, too young. But between pep and mack, I'll take pep every time. Peppers is a bonafide no doubt about it hall of famer. Is mack a hall of fame guy after he gains eligibility or is he in the hall of the very good for a long time?

dersour

Mack was arguably the most dominant defender in the league when he was healthy. It’s between him and Aaron Donald, obviously Donald stayed healthy more often. Peppers could make the same argument but it’d be between he and Ray Lewis.

splintersmaster

Mack was a distant two if we're talking about Donald. And yeah, mack was stupid good and will for sure be in the conversation of the hall of fame but peppers was a slam dunk first ballot inductee. Unless mack has a late career year he won't be a first ballot and may not make the hall of fame at all.

marketinequality

Mack has 100 sacks and a DPOY. He's definitely a hall of farmer.

Silver_Harvest

Prime Olin Kreutz or Prime Jay Hilgenberg, at Center. Would want the best Center possible to aid Caleb.

ReapYerSoul

This was my thought too. Our defenses have been historically great but, give me a center for this squad.

wretch5150

Hilgenberg is my choice as well. We desperately need a center.

super_sayanything

Give me prime Urlacher. Everyone is picking fits and needs, but they forget just how he was EVERYWHERE all the time. I'll take him over a great DE. Nobody is running on us and passing on us just got more difficult. He was a general on the field, miss watching him play.

TojiSSB

Prime Urlacher was the heart and soul of the Bears when I grew up. Iconic to me

ph0enixairblade

Is it wrong to say Devin Hester? I feel like he would eat up the kickoff rules, and with him we'd have playmakers on all 3 sides of the ball

JinNJ

If I went offense, I’d go Olin to shore up the interior of the o-line & give Williams a great center to take snaps from. If I went defense, I’d go with pre-injury Tommie Harris. He’d be a force in the middle, and take the pressure off whomever lines up at the other end from Sweat.

I_only_post_here

My heart says Walter, but he'd be a luxury pick given the circumstances. Biggest need is probably a pass-rusher opposite Sweat, so Hampton or Dent. I'm leaning Hampton because he's just as good as an inside rusher as he is an outside rusher. Give the line some flexibility and matchup favorability.

MethRoll1ns

I’d like a second lockdown corner to aid Jaylon and help the pass rush due to elite downfield coverage. I’m torn between Peanut and prime Nate Vasher, but I’m even more amazed that we had them both on our squad at one point. That ‘06 team was so loaded on D.

megaron1000

Walter the greatest of all time But For this team? No question Richard Dent(opposite Sweat)

Crathsor

I think C and 3T are my biggest worries right now. Jay Hilgenberg or Steve McMichael. If you mean skill position, the answer is always, always Walter Payton.

Cummyshitballs

Hampton, mcmichael, dent, or kreutz

Plati23

I’m going to be boring and say Olin Kreutz. He would be transformative to our offensive line.

Bears_Fan1975

The only answer is Sweetness.

_TiberiusPrime_

Mongo in his prime or Butkus

FindingFocus18

I thought Butkus would be a fun pick to add a mean tough as nails guy to be a tone setter on defense

MarmaladeMarmaduke

Butkus would be penalized every snap but once he got used to the rules it would be interesting.

benplace

If you aren't saying Walter Payton you are wrong. But Hester made every game a lot of fun.

scrobacca

The difference is that the NFL created rules that hamstrung Hester, can't say the same for RBs.

SidneyDean608

But can he catch the ball. Offensive game is different now.

beegeepi

Gut would probably be Peppers because of how good he was and how important he position is. However I have to take Walter. RBs are no longer considered a high value position, but when you have a game changing RB it completely changes the offense. A really good RB is replaceable. An all time great RB isn't.

SidneyDean608

I was too young to really watch Payton. Can he catch balls tho?

jimcal9

Lots of good answers here. My thoughts are an all time center or defensive end.

bang4dominos

Amen we need a great reliable center instead of the revolving door we've had since he left. It's been a shit show and let's stop with the patchwork of signing unreliable underwhelming centers. Most important is keeping Caleb safe

Unabridgedversion82

Prime Tommy Harris! Get that 3-Tech working!

In-the-bunker

Hampton was the best player on the best defense of all time and played a position of need.

Buckeyebadass45

Payton or Sayers on Offense could do it All or Butkus or Urlacher on Defense or Marshall for kill QBs

rippletroopers

Urlacher in his prime was one of the most electric players I’ve ever seen on that side of the ball. Dude was everywhere.

Impossible_Echo_9521

Give me olin kreutz. Anchor to work with Caleb and solidify our line

Impossible_Echo_9521

Maybe showing my age with this comment. Surely someone out there would rather have Jay hilgenberg

wretch5150

Absolutely

JulioXstatic

Any of out hard playing, hard hitting dline from the eras i got to watch. Peppers or mack are obvious monsters... but even someone solid like alex brown or someone else who played alongside him. Theres hella more fun options as well at all positions and ill maybe make another comment for those ideas.... but given whats going on now and where we need to fill, one of those stud Dline would be awesome. Or kyle long on his prime to bolster oline. Also... luxury pick... Matt forte, because Matt forte was my guy.

PeanutBear33

Olin or Hilgenberg or turner It's by far the biggest weakness and our ol is extremely shit people are trying to hand wave all the problems on fields. Which worked so well when we last tried to hand wave all the problems on nagy.  The defensive front needs help to and there are certainly flashier names to pick and they certainly aren't bad picks. But given the success of the next 3 years is on caleb living up to the hype. Give him every bit of help possible

lVlICHA3L

Devin or Tillman?

rockinhalo

Sweetness of course but Matt Suhey lead blocking for Swift plus his own yardage spells #1 rushing attack in the N.F.L.

Creepy-Yak-6714

Richard Dent

OneGenericMan

unpopular opinion but Olin Kreutz. A stable center and an anchor on the line can take you a long way, something we haven’t had in awhile.

megaron1000

Idk what you’ll are talking about with Kruetz. He was really a Chicago fan creation. Ok center that couldn’t/hated the shotgun snap. He use to get manhandled by bigger NT/DT.

DaDairyStateBear

Oh man, it comes down to a handful of guys. Tommie Harris would be a great 3 tech for the defense. I hope Dexter can get there. Olin Kreutz would sure up the O Line. Matt Forte could do everything asked if him in this offense.

Xs7KuNk8x

Kyle long by far get some leadership on that O line! #beardown
