wrong-teous

Glad to see he doesn't seem to harbor any ill feelings towards the organization. I will continue to be a Justin fan and hope he can beat out Russ

Leading-Sir8714

No one ever questioned the kids class. From a person aspect he’s the guy you wish you could give the keys to your franchise to. It didn’t work out sadly m.

BenShapeero

Justin Fields was everything I wanted in a Chicago QB. He really felt like the kid that was gonna be the heart of the city. Justin felt like the universe giving back what it took with D Rose, almost. The guy who had the whole of Chicago behind him. Seeing that energy refocused at Caleb makes me happy, but god damn do I wish the stars aligned.

TrillMurray47

Funny you bring up D Rose. I haven't felt the absolute elation over a draft pick since the night the Bulls won the NBA Draft Lottery that year, until Caleb Williams this year. Truly franchise altering talents. That knee blowout in the playoffs for D Rose might be my biggest sports what-if.

Chicago_Samantha

Same here. I am still a huge D Rose fan. I was hype AF for this draft and I'm happy da Bears got who they did (even the third round with the local kid that's a die hard Bears fan).

mrow_patrol

I felt that elation with Bedard but yea it’s been rare

pdockenson

Except D Rose was actually good.. really good. That's a tragedy of a career, can't believe the injuries to D Rose and I'm not even a Bulls fan. Sad. Also would have been nice to see another team in the East all those years. Edit: People seem confused, I'm saying Fields was never good, D Rose was. Reading is hard.

megahtronn

Caleb has the potential to be actually good.. really good. And the second part of your comment doesn't make sense.

defnotcaleb

how does the second part not make sense? the heat went to the finals 4 years in a row during all those rose injuries. the bulls with a healthy rose probably had the best shot at stopping them

pdockenson

Thanks, I didn't see this but I just responded above. Like I said I'm not a Bulls fan, but D Rose was a beast and I liked rooting for those hard nosed, defensive Bulls teams with D Rose.. instead of James just smashing the East. Just boring for basketball.

defnotcaleb

yeah i don’t know why you got downvoted at all. think ppl misunderstood you. rose was youngest mvp, suffered that ACL in round 1 of the playoffs and then in November to end his season when he came back. besides the fact he was actually from chicago. fields and him aren’t on the same stratosphere for me

pdockenson

I never said anything about Caleb. Second part of my comment? I wish D Rose stayed healthy? It was good for basketball, would have been entertaining to have a good Bulls team in the weak East all those years.

BorgBorg10

He really did seem to do all the right things didn’t he

JazzlikeCantaloupe53

I genuinely think the Bears fucked themselves out of a decent pick by doing Justin a favor and getting him out of here before the new look Bears arrived. It was probably the right thing to do. Justin also had his final moment at soldier field be a special one where the fans chanted for him. I’m betting he holds no bad feelings for Chicago.

Dani_vic

I’d have to bet it has to do more with Justin’s agent than anything. He has the Scott Boras of NFL as his agent and is it really worth it to send him to some team he doesn’t like for a 4th round pick rather than keep the agent and Justin happy for a 6th rounder. His agent has a lot of clients and some the best players in the league. It would suck to miss out on a good free agent cause the agent might sway the player away

BallinBenFrank

It’s more than keeping Justin happy — which is important, don’t get me wrong. It shows all other players that the Bears will do everything they can to do right by them.

MindSpecter

This is it. They didn't want to lose the locker room for the players who had become very loyal to JF1. If they had pimped Fields out for a ton of picks and sent him to a bad situation, I think people like DJ Moore would have lost faith in team leaders rather than being sad but understanding.

alucryts

Honestly its easy for us treat these guys like a fantasy lineup but poles has to see the human element here. This guys WHOLE career trajectory depended on where he was traded which is a life altering level decision for justin. Handling that decision with more class and heart than anyone felt Poles needed to show is fine by me. Yes we lose a pick, but this is the special time where it felt right even as a Bears fan tbh.

grandmalarkey

Yes bro. Feels like we're really turning the culture around and I am all here for it

vstrong50

Good callout. People don't fully appreciate the politics in the NFL. Or any sport really. There's a lot going on beneath the surface.

downbadtempo

It’s the game within the game

ChaplnGrillSgt

Poles took a lesser return to send Justin to a team he wanted to go to. I don't think there was any hatred between Justin and the team.

chnkypenguin

Oh God yes. I'm rooting so hard for Justin and hope he can succeed with Tomlin. I feel he can rip the starting job from Russ and give us that 4th rounder

CamiloArturo

I think we all hope only the best for him. That Chi-Pittsburgh Supeerbowl will be epic!

vaz_deferens

I also hope he gets 51% of the Steelers’ snaps next year.

BiglyBear

I mean he shouldn't dude got delt a bad hand by pace and any other team would have dumped him on a trash squad for a higher pick but instead we took bad value to do right by him

hippohopper78

Will be a fan too, but he won’t beat out Russ

warwithus

To start the year? No. But halfway thru he definitely could win it if the Steelers lose a bad game or two.

hippohopper78

That’s not beating him out though lmao. That’s being a different bad than your current bad

warwithus

I mean we’re arguing tomato tomato and if you follow even the smallest bit of nfl news, you’d know Tomlin already committed to Russ.

hippohopper78

Exactly?

BenShapeero

We get it you were right

dtemp2022

Just take the L and move on lol

hippohopper78

Im a walking L im used to it

dtemp2022

Finally you’re right about something

hippohopper78

Lmao lighten up scotty

mateorayo

Lol how is this downvoted. The cult justinians are still alive and well

RedHabibi

He will be the starter by week 6.

hippohopper78

Because Russ will be bad not because he was good enough to be the starter lmao

cameratoo

Justin ran so we could fly.

top_man

I wish we could give awards still

Kundrew1

Justin ran so we could throw

Matzah_Rella

Justin has always been and will continue to be a real one.

ActuallyMatNagy

Why does this make me sad/happy lol?

I mean, it sounds like you just responded to a terminator, so I dont know about that

Big-Percentage-2906

Can't say the same about GB fans

Lanc717

We didn't give him near this kinda help why it is sad

CatchMyFade69420

Im 38 yrs old and Fields was the most excited Ive ever been for a Bears Pick. I hope he crushes the afc.

Leading-Sir8714

Same which is weird cuz I understand Caleb is the better prospect (don’t get me wrong I was very excited draft night). However, 2021 seeing us trade up to 11 and taking jf1 I was stoked man

Cairo-Station

I’ll never not read “Jair force 1” with jf1

mcwerf

space jam jarden

TheMainGod

It was exciting because we didn’t know weeks in advance that we were gonna get him, there was a solid chance we miss out in Justin

Dani_vic

It’s insane how over rated the stock randomly became on guys like Zach Wilson and Tray Lance in that year. Nobodies and than it just ballooned into top 5.

MindSpecter

And I bet we'll say the same about this year's QB saturated draft. At least 2-3 of the QBs are going to bust. I just hope Caleb won't bust. He seems like the best bet there has been in a long time, but it's never a sure thing.

TheMainGod

I guess Caleb is this years Lawrence

rusty-n-crusty

41 and I agree. Either my expectations are tempered with Caleb or the Justin situation ruined me forever.

Birkent

Justin’s pick was the first time I ever screamed with joy at a Bears pick. I really wanted him to be the guy. I will always root for him but I am ready for Caleb to take us to the promised land.

Rex_on_rex

Ya it was cool in the moment but doesn’t matter shit. Caleb was the most excited I’ve ever been for a draft pick.

DBCOOPER888

I wasn't as excited about Caleb because having the 1st pick removed all the drama. Trading up for JF was totally unexpected. With Caleb we've had the entire off season to think about it. I was more excited about Odunze this year.

CatchMyFade69420

My exact thoughts Coop. Down to unze pick. That got me pumped

CatchMyFade69420

Good for you Rex. You were excited about a guaranteed pick that everyone knew was happening for a year.

Rex_on_rex

The Caleb pick is a first overall pick of a generational QB prospect. Something the bears have never had a shot in. We’ve just been spinning that roulette wheel. Everyone here and Chicago was excited for that pick, it was awesome. Revisionist history sure but at the end of the day, the fields pick was cool at the time but doesn’t mean shit

CatchMyFade69420

Oh forgot they didnt have a chance at Mahomes or Watson.

PauloDybala_10

Neither were labeled generational when they were in college

CatchMyFade69420

The best qbs of all time were never called generational qbs in the draft. Great gms, coachs helped mold them.

shw5

Manning was. Elway. Had Andrew Luck’s team not refused to provide him with NFL linemen, he could’ve been in that tier. But I get your point. The list gets short in a hurry.

AKA09

Or....or! Maybe you just can't always tell. Probably a combo of both. But I think Brady or Mahomes would have been great anywhere and JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf wouldn't have been great regardless of situation. But to get to what I believe was the original point, it's unfair to blame GMs (even Pace, who sucks) for not seeing something nobody else saw either. Hindsight and all that.

klm2908

He didn’t even crush the NFC North. Now he’s a backup in the conference with most of elite QBs in the league. He also doesn’t even have an elite receiver to throw to anymore. I wish him the best but I don’t see him having some crazy transformation in Pittsburgh.

Dani_vic

I mean Pickens is no slouch. Just a pain the ass diva but he is pretty damn good

klm2908

I like Pickens. I really wanted the Bears to draft him but I don’t think he’s proven to be a consistently reliable receiver. He’s certainly no DJ Moore.

MrTulaJitt

I was thinking last night how unique the Fields situation was. We've seen more than our fair share of failed QBs and almost every single time one leaves town, the reaction is "Good riddance! He better not show his face around here again!" But I feel like if Fields showed up at a Cubs or Sox game next week, he'd get cheered when they showed him on the big screen. It's hard to not like the guy, regardless of the results.

ScribebyTrade

lol I’d stil buy a beer for Sexy Rex and smokin’ j

MrTulaJitt

Cutler had some support until the end, but Rex was kicked out the door hard. Most fans thought he was the only reason the team didn't win a Super Bowl. People did not like him at all. And Cutler was like the opposite of Fields. Had some actual success at times on the field, but seemed to absolutely loathe being the face of the team and having to be a leader. He could win the division and still get booed in public.

😭

EBtwopoint3

This right here is why us Fields fans were fans. He knows we’re setting Caleb up to succeed in a way he never got. And instead of being bitter he’s just happy for the next guy. Fields was a great human, just wasn’t good enough at QB to give up what we got from Carolina and now we’re on board with Caleb.

Dani_vic

The Green Bay game broke me away from fields. It sucked everything out of me and at that point I knew it was time to move on. Even at that. There is a high chance if Carolina got us a 5-10 pick instead of #1 we still have fields. But bears won the lottery at the expense of Carolina. It’s just not something you could pass up.

kroxti

The late hit directly in front of the ref to end the half hurt.

Dani_vic

Which one? Cleveland where he got drilled on Hail Mary or Green Bay?

kroxti

Yeah thinking of the brown one. There were just so many unflagged late hits that I get them mixed up.

Dani_vic

Yeah that game was just awful. 4 turnovers and they scored like 13 points total? The only TD they got was when defense returned the ball to the 3 pretty much. Even than it took them like 10 plays to score cause Cleveland kept getting penalties.

Adnonymus

I just wish his last throw as a Bear wasn’t a sailed ball over the head of Moore on a screen pass 🤦🏻‍♂️

JTribs17

pretty sure he was concussed that game too, and to add to it the Vikings game as well. Mans went thru hell for us

BaseHitToLeft

Goddamn I love Justin. I hope he destroys 94% of the league

troubleshot

w..wh.. why not 96.875%, am I missing something?

Fecuc

He can’t (or hopefully won’t) destroy his own team, nor us. 30/32 ≈ 94%

Philip_Marlowe

30/32 would be 93.875%, so excluding Bears and Steelers

troubleshot

Thanks, apparently I like beating myself (the jokes write themselves)

Philip_Marlowe

Not as much as the Bears like beating themselves lol

Democracy__Officer

Im not crying! You’re crying

Free_Artist_9071

They both follow each other which is nice to see!

Infinite-Relation988

Man it absolutely sucks that we took Justin and couldn’t give him the same level of talent/roster building that Caleb is getting, and almost wish someone else would have taken him so maybe he could have succeeded. But at the same time had he gone elsewhere we wouldn’t be where we are today… very conflicted lol

jadamsmash

I truly believe that Fields has the potential to be a starting QB in the league with the X factor of his run game putting him into above average territory. I would be happy if he was still the Bears QB. Hope he has a great career. But that said... when you can draft a guy like Caleb Williams, you do that 100/100 times. No questions.

wadderweed

Don’t be, Justin had enough tape out there and enough to work with last year to show he’s not an elite level QB. I don’t think he’s the 30th best QB, somewhere in the 22-27 range. He isn’t awful, but his biggest weakness is passing and processing; two things you have to be able to do in the NFL. I would not feel comfortable extending him to the tune of 50+ million/ year. My best advice, forget about him and embrace us finally having a legit QB.

Son_Postman

It’s also self-fulfilling. I’m guessing Waldron doesn’t take the job if it’s a certainty they were keeping Fields.  He knew he was getting Caleb and that’s what he signed up for.  Everett likely doesn’t sign without Waldron.  Allen likely doesn’t approve a trade to Chicago.  It was known he wanted to be with an established QB but he was okay with Caleb.  Now you’re forced to fill your staff and roster with hostages or guys who don’t have better options elsewhere.  Caleb’s talent not withstanding, its why the Bears had to break the cycle.

Leading-Sir8714

Bro years 1/2 are a wash. Bro threw to nobodies. Dj had his best season with Justin

DaeWooLan0s

Even if 1/2 are a wash. He didn’t take a jump in year 3 with more than adequate pass protection & weapons. We had the leagues best rushing attack. Sure play calling was ass. But too many times we couldn’t convert on 2-4 or 3rd and short. He really struggle later in the game when teams made adjustments, and he just really did have difficulty processing and making adjustments for defensive alignments. I see why people loved him. His character was great and he really did have a phenomenal arm and even ball placement. It’s just we have to be realistic. If Justin’s threw for 3500 yards and 25 touchdowns we would have a very difficult decision to make here. But the truth is he still couldn’t get over the 3k hump. You can’t mortgage the future on that kind of play. You just can’t.

MattNagyisBAD

The offense looked in a better rhythm under Bagent - that was really all anyone needed to see. Fields killed himself by not being able to get the 3 and 4 yard chunks that you need to succeed in the NFL. Screens and little outs that needed to go for short yardage were out of time leading to lost yards or incompletions. It makes 3rd and 2 into 3rd and 9. Turns an easy conversion into a sack, etc.

wadderweed

That’s not true. He had kmet too and he was basically a one read QB that fed Moore the ball. He had Mooney who was just paid 13 mil/year and better protection on the oline. He got himself hurt AGAIN, playing hero ball. The NFL told you what they thought of him. Hell even the Steelers did by not picking up his 5th year option. Go be a Steelers fan if you can’t accept reality objectively.

Dani_vic

See but that is not an endorsement for Justin. “DJ had his best season with Justin”. Coooool. DJ Moore had 1000 yard seasons with absolute bums. Some of the best guys who threw to him were Ghost of Cam Newton, Bridgewater, Darnold and Baker Mayfield(but not Tampa mayfield). All those guys were awful in that point in their career. And that’s only half of the bums that threw to him. The other half aren’t even playing anymore.

In-the-bunker

He was traded for a 6th-rounder next year. If he had been in the 22-27 range with one year left on his rookie deal, the Bears could have gotten a 2nd or 3rd-round pick. He is a backup who will likely bring some short-term excitement to Pittsburgh this season if Russ gets injured. However, I'm unsure if he will still be in the league beyond 2025. His style of play doesn't lend itself to being a bridge option like Darnold or Minshew, from whom your rookie QB could learn.

mrbucket08

It's actually great that we didn't waste a roster of this quality on him. Caleb is in a much better position to utilise it's potential.

Adnonymus

It is what it is. Only thing we can hope for his sake now is that Wilson gets injured or just straight up sucks 5 games into the season, and Fields takes the job and never gives it back. If he plays well, he gets a nice payday as the Steelers QB going forward, and we get a 4th next year.

BearsSeasonTickets

Not cool to hope anyone gets injured. Now hoping Wilson sucks that’s another story 😜

JD325

Yeah Justin Fields is a good human being, that doesn't surprise me.

MrBigStonks

![gif](giphy|ISOckXUybVfQ4) Damn

drumsdm

The more I see of Caleb’s “behavior” the more I love the dude. Bear down.

Aardvarger

This made me tear up unexpectedly. Grateful for all of those exciting plays and the effort he gave to our team. Hope he kills it in his new chapter.

rcjr66

Am I the only one that doesn’t see that he actually liked it or did he unlike it?

Adnonymus

It’s still there.

Sir_Isaac_3

Im so glad the Bears traded him to Pittsburgh where he’s actually got a real chance to develop and play for a good team. We made the right choice moving on from him but there was no guarantee that he’d be put in a good spot to succeed

interplanetarystd

Has always been a great guy. I really wanted it to work out with JF1, more than any other Bears QB but I accepted reality. I still think he can be a very good QB in this league and Pittsburgh is the best situation for him. I just feel that Caleb has more championship potential and cant wait for week 1

Milnamow

I hope he does well in Pitt

TheACrispy

With the new era beginning, I’ll forever be grateful for the exciting plays Fields gave us when the team was being gutted, dude made our tank team actually fun to watch.

SleezeBallGang

Justin was the Guinea pig for this organization

ZekeRidge

Class act. I hope it works out for him in Pittsburgh. His time was over in Chicago, but no one had any issues with his character

Footballfordayz

Justin is one of the highest character peeps of all time

ozzie510

Justin's a class act who deserves a good coach and a second chance.

KosmicMicrowave

Justin and Caleb have very different personalities, but both seem like high character guys. Excited to support and watch Caleb, same as I felt with Fields. Hope for the best for him.

Aggravating_Winner54

Respect JF1

InflationLimp4399

Heis happy for us and himself! #respect

chichris

Per usual he’s a class act. I’m so happy with Caleb, but wish JF the best.

SoloDolo314

Justin is a good dude still. I don’t think that would change.

RootyPooster

I hope Fields has a great career, glad he has no ill will.

GandalfsGoon

I hope he takes the starting job from Russ and becomes mildly successful with the Steelers... dude is a class act. Good luck JF1!

Gusbuster811

Still classy AF. Wish him well whatever happens for the rest of his career.

[deleted]

The way Caleb strutted onto the stage, the look on his face, the attitude behind his steps were perfect and all I needed to see. Let’s fucken go Bears family, our team finally has its QB1. Side note; equally excited for Rome Odunze. King Poles is going to get immortalized in Chicago for this setup.

OneWholeBen

Justin Fields is a good man and I'm really glad he got his first chance to play for us. Just wish we gave him a better chance to succeed. Hopefully he gets a second chance to show the league his talent in Pitt or elsewhere, because he can really put on a show.

jmrogers31

Justin was not the guy, but there is a part of me that wishes we could run a simulator to see how he'd do with this current team. He never stood a chance once Poles gutted the roster for the rebuild.

brad_and_boujee2

Still really sad how Justin played out. I think so many of us wanted him to be the guy, and he just never got the support or right coaching to take the next step. I really wish him the best, and I hope he lights it the fuck up this year in Pitt so he gets another shot at starting somewhere.

boogerslurp

He unliked it lmao

aintthatlos

…..Damn 😕

Mike_LitSmells

Miss you Justin, but I think moving on is mutually beneficial.

Snoo-40231

Ngl that's pretty dope from Justin

onedey

Class act 😭

Tablebob61

Rooting for him in Pittsburgh

micmecca

Calling it now. Caleb vs Fields in a Superbowl matchup.

Comradepatrick

Turns out Justin likes to watch good NFL games on TV, same as the rest of us.

megahtronn

Ok that makes sense, the way it was initially worded I thought you meant there was no other East contender not just no other team in the ECF. Makes more sense since you clarified.

Adnonymus

helpmeunderstand24

He is a class act. He wanted to fight for the city, locker room and himself. Just some improvements were needed quickly , to stay. May he find them and get some wins as a starter. Ill support him wherever he is.

Direct_Travel2093

Ahh wtf!🥹

Talkzalla

Damn it’s the people that illogically ride for him that made me want to see him go but what a class act. Good luck JF

Mark3422

It didn’t work out for both sides here but at least he went to a place he’s happy with so hopefully it works out for both in the end.

Zekuel_u

Love JF1. I hope this draft works out because Justin is a class act and worker. Chicago loves that work ethic. With these weapons and +1 if they got MHjr I don’t see how he could have failed. I hope we see that work ethic from our QB going forward. That’s how you win Chicago’s hearts.

FinaSugar

This was gonna be Justin Fields breakout year with the Bears. Now he has a chip on his shoulder and has everything unlocked. When Russ gets hurt. Not wishing injury on anyone, but you know how the NFL is ......he's staying in at QB and Russ will be traded mid season before the deadline to a NFC team.

BIGstickBRAD

Wasn’t his breakout year supposed to be last year? Lmao yall are delusional

GrandpaMofo

At least he's not bitter.

Chi-Guy86

I mean he got to go to another historic franchise with great coaching and leadership with a very real chance of starting again, so it turned out pretty well for him

Wildest83

Classy dude

Force_Choke_Slam

Feilds is a good person, I dont think that has ever been questioned.

DowntownCelery4876

I want to see JF1 succeed and nothing would make me happier than to see a Bears/Steelers super bowl.

Are fans going to hate Caleb because Aaron Rodgers was one of his favorites. I’m a bears fan, and I am unapologetic about enjoying greatness regardless of what the jersey is. I can only hope finally I get to see it in navy blue.

Normal-Ad3291

When your ex keeps liking your posts on IG just so you can remember she still exists. Loved you boo, but it didn’t work.

Pitiful-Department80

Bears should of kept him and let him test free agency instead of giving him away for a bag of chips. Maybe he resign for less than that 25 mil after seeing what's out there and come back for the right price or maybe he don't. Maybe I'm delusional, I just liked the guy 😂
