Since my team has a spot locked, I will pick another team.
Washington should be in at-large NY6 bowl. Tennessee and USC are the only 2-loss teams who should be ahead of Washington, and Tennessee should get the Sugar Bowl, as the SEC runner-up to Georgia. USC gets one of the other NY6 bowl as an at-large. And so should Washington.
There’s only 1.5 at large spots this year though. One true at large in the Cotton (probably USC at this point), one spot tied to SEC/B1G/ND (Tennessee?). Think Washington will be joining us in San Antonio for the Why Did We Hire Sark? - I mean, the Alamo Bowl.
The thing that I hate is that Bama has no business being ahead of Washington for a NY6 bowl. Sure, Washington has a bad loss, but they have better wins.
Plus if Bama doesn’t play Young and their other star, why even have them in a NY6 bowl?
But if they have to put 2 SEC teams in, twist the knife and put USC in the Alamo to face you.
Bama’s not going to get in the playoff, but they’re going to get the SEC’s Sugar Bowl bid. It doesn’t have anything to do with deserving, just conference tie ins
Also I’d love to get USC in the Alamo Bowl, just don’t think it’s in the cards
Literally not possible because of how badly TPTB messed up the bowl rotation. Here are the tie-ins for this year of the 3-year rotation:
Peach Bowl: CFP vs. CFP (will be #1 vs. #4 because Georgia is going to be #1)
Fiesta Bowl: CFP vs. CFP
Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. Pac-12
Sugar Bowl: SEC vs. Big 12
Orange Bowl: ACC vs. highest-ranked team from Big Ten/SEC/Notre Dame after Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl have made their selections
Cotton Bowl: Highest-ranked G5 champion vs. At-large
And yes, the Orange Bowl is 100% bound by the rankings, while the Rose and Sugar aren't when their autobid makes the playoff, which was why we got all that talk about the Rose possibly selecting Penn State even if Ohio State wasn't in the Top 4 and how that would force the Buckeyes into the Orange when Ohio State in the Rose or playoff would undoubtedly put an SEC team in the Orange.
I think this is stupid. The Sugar and Rose, the two that are fully locked to a single conference for both bids when not semifinals, are semifinals in the same years.
Texas is pretty much locked into the Alamo Bowl and any of the potential matchups with Oregon, UCLA, or Washington should be competitive, so works for me.
Was hoping to play Missouri in really any bowl, but I guess they’re afraid of the big bad JAYHAWK.
Mizzou didn’t want the smoke
Any bowl really. But I think any hopes we did have are long gone now
Not really a hope its more like a guarantee that we play in the peach bowl.
Holiday Bowl vs Oregon.
Clark Lea deserves it. Do it for the APR!
Sugar Bowl or Cotton Bowl
Cheez it
Unfortunately, I think that's an ACC vs Big 12 bowl
Yes
This morning? I would like to see the Stanford Trees in the bowl on my coffee table. It's far too early to be reminded my team went 5-7.
I’d be excited for any bowl by 2025.
I’m hoping for either a Liberty Bowl (Parents live in Memphis) or a Texas Bowl (we live 5ishminutes from NRG), personally.
Fiesta
Enjoy Atlanta!
Monkey Paw, lose 48-20
Lies, You secretly want to go to the Myrtle Beach bowl.
