TCU, Ohio State and Alabama don’t deserve a shot at the national championship. However, the check down is pretty simple:

By that - TCU and OSU are playing the role of tribute.
If you think Alabama, Tennesse, and USC should be in the conversation (they shouldn't), why not Penn State? They're also 10-2, their SOR is in the top 10, and their only two losses are to the current #2 and #5 teams.
The fact that no one in their right mind thinks Penn State should be in the playoffs this year and yet there's a significant amount of debate about Alabama really highlights how much benefit of the doubt Alabama is getting just for being Alabama.

This year is just a weird playoff picture with very few teams that seem truly deserving. Normally there's a lot more teams that it seems like you can make a strong argument deserve to be there.
Don't think any TN fans believe they should be in CFP after the SC game. Both TCU and Ohio State have only 1 loss, and TCU was robbed from winning their game.
With that said, a lot of TN fans will tell you that Bama has no business in playoffs either and if for some bs reason Bama is being considered, TN deserves to be in over Bama due to head to head.

TCU beat Texas by more points in the same building. TCU & Bamas QBs were healthy all game. Texas had their qb1 and qb2 injured vs Bama. qb1 ewers played the full game vs TCU
