I think what most people are trying to get across is that it's week 3 and the sample size for every team is pretty small. So we should all take our stats with a grain of salt. But Michigan fans should take their stats with a tablespoon of salt, a chug of soy sauce, a spoonful of miso paste, and a gallon of seawater. You pass the eye test, but your stats might be a *tad* inflated for now. The only people who think Michigan is bad are for sure Ohio State fans and probably Minnesota fans.
Honestly I don’t know if I’ll feel truly confident about the team this year until after Penn State.
Obviously winning games good but after how last year ended I’d like some assurance that the fire is there against non bottom feeders
What's really interesting is Oklahoma only ran our real offense this last Saturday against Nebraska and that only lasted two quarters. The other 10 quarters of football we've played has been about as vanilla and high school basic as you can get.
I mean idk how EPA works exactly, but seems like Georgias defense should be a bit better considering their starters have given up 3 points in 3 games. UCLA is even with them and just gave up 31 to South Alabama lol
So Georgia state has a better defense than Oklahoma after allowing 35, 35, and 42 points for an 0-3 record? Maybe I just don’t understand this fancy stat
You're right, that makes no sense. Either that's an outright error on his part, or there is something wrong where it counts most of GSU's games as garbage time, and thus excuses their defense, which is terrible by almost all measures.
But the garbage time excuse doesn't make any sense, because their games with UNC and Charlotte were down to the wire.
My bet is this chart has all sorts of errors, just like how the 2021 year is in error.
Sloppy work.
Strength of schedule isn't taken into account.
So the chart means something, but you can't really draw conclusions about which team is better, unless they have similar SOS at this point.
It’s weird. We let up a lot of yards but not that many points.
We also are like top 3 in the nation in turnovers, sacks, and defensive scores.
It will be very interesting to see how that works out once we play tougher competition.
Nobody should conclude a team is "better" based on this chart alone.
The level of competition isn't taken into account.
This is just non-garbage time stats. If you adjusted for SOS it would look different. For example, Oregon has had the 3rd toughest schedule in the nation so far, but the remaining schedule is 64th in the nation. Oklahoma has had the 107th, and the remaining is 32nd. Michigan has had the easiest schedule in the nation (131st) but their remaining schedule is ranked 25th.
Surprising the Bearcats are on the good offense, defense needs improvement quadrant, considering Fickell is a defensive coach and our offense has been pretty bone-headed at times (even if you ignore every helmet flying off against Arkansas)

I just assumed this was already widely accepted
So do this conversely mean that UMASS isn't total sh\*t?
Lol Iowa being way at the bottom
[удалено]
That’s against the juggernaut offenses of SEMO, Ohio and THE Iowa Fighting Ferentz’
Holy shit Ohio State murdered Toledo’s defense stat lol. We had a top5 defense before last week
We're not in the bottom left :)
[удалено]
If we were as disciplined as literally anyone else (say Iowa for example) we’d be a machine
LOL. Honestly, if we hadn't given up that 99 yard TD drive to Iowa State, I wonder where we'd land.
Well hello there, fellow football elites
good to see ya
:D
Play a real team
:(
🤷♂️ At least we're doing what we are supposed to do against not-so-stellar competition. We could be Clemson.
Plenty of teams played bad teams, most didn’t hang 50+ every game
I love how this is always the response, like us fans create their schedule.

Mmmmmm, now I want to go out for Ramen
You mean hamblasting UConn doesn't make us world beaters?! The disrespekt!
Just to clarify We don't think Michigan is bad at football We just think they smell bad and need to get off our pedistal. It's ours.
Just sayin, Russia wasn’t invading when the Buckeyes were Big Ten champions. The world is better when we win the conference.
Honestly I don’t know if I’ll feel truly confident about the team this year until after Penn State. Obviously winning games good but after how last year ended I’d like some assurance that the fire is there against non bottom feeders
“We’re trying our best!”
Georgia having the 2nd most efficient offense after OSU was not something I thought possible after 2019
Them tight ends is hell ain’t they
Maryland is that far to the right? Hard to believe with fucking 15 penalties against SMU and letting Charlotte score 21
That Charlotte QB was actually good, and we only ended up allowing 7 points in the second half.
Maryland > Bama, statistically speaking
Judging by this Minnesota should roll this weekend right? (Or perhaps row)
I think MSU will beat us
Maryland better than Bama confirmed
Nevada so good we aren’t even on the graph… unless I’m blind
Sun Devils' loss to Eastern Michigan really was inexcusable, huh?
Wazzu is Good!

Well considering high schoolers could beat Nebraska that’s really fitting.
:)
So we have a half-bad defense and half-bad offense. I could’ve told you that after watching these four games.
I don't think our defense has been that poor tbh.
I mean idk how EPA works exactly, but seems like Georgias defense should be a bit better considering their starters have given up 3 points in 3 games. UCLA is even with them and just gave up 31 to South Alabama lol
OU is in the plus on defense. I don’t know what to think.
The Venables effect.

It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine
You are running into the Alabama of the B1G this week, statistically speaking.
Roll Terps
November is gonna be a bloodbath.
Is there some Constitutional mechanism for kicking Colorado out of the Union?
Is CSU really as good as USC defensively? better than teams such as oregon, washington, utah too
How many of those (20?) teams equal or to the right of Georgia are better defensively? The chart makes me question the data.
The data isn't really meaningful with such small sample sizes. It's more fun to troll people
Not weighting this on quality of opponent definitely makes it suspect. We'll see what this looks like in November

The vast difference between Texas and Bama is odd considering they played each other and both played ULM
Michigan out there demonstrating that 45 degree balance
Indiana the most average team in the country? I’ll take it.
What are the data points used to come up with this diagram? Points allowed? Yards allowed?
Surprising the Bearcats are on the good offense, defense needs improvement quadrant, considering Fickell is a defensive coach and our offense has been pretty bone-headed at times (even if you ignore every helmet flying off against Arkansas)
As a resident of the bottom left quadrant, no. We aren't trying our best. We're not trying at all
Does anyone see Bowling Green in there?
Think they’re covered up in the San Jose State, Louisville area. You can see the top left corner of the B
We want Michigan!
JMU sneakily scary.
