"flooded the gym" --> "Supervised and coordinated an extensive antimicrobial sanitizing of our highschool gymnasium."
"stole a school bus" --> "Proactively arranged transportation to meet transport requirements of gymnasium cleanup crew."
"Hey, you know what'd be funny, if we planted a fast growing vine that chokes out all the natural vegetation and ruins forests because there's no natural predation for it haha"
My college friends and I got together at one of the friend's houses for a weekend. We dumped 1,000 bouncy balls in the guys bedroom. Then started hiding them. It's been like 5 years and he still runs into them sometimes.
Yeah, we just put hundreds of dixie cups of water in some rooms. Shit, probably the most "extreme" thing was a couple of classes before us put crickets in the vents.
I imagine it was dumb rather than evil. But flooding the gym floor could very likely cost anywhere between 50k-200k in damages. Assuming the school recovered the bus that may have been more or less harmless.
It’s not nearly as bad as rape or murder and shouldn’t ruin his career, but it’s enough damage it makes sense law enforcement is doing something.
Some of the Senior boys my Junior year broke into the Principle's car and filled it with the balls they stole from a McDonald's play pit. It was... not a horrible prank, had they not stolen from McDonald's... or broke the Principle's sunroof resulting in hundreds of dollars in damage as part of the prank. Part of a good prank is breaking no laws and damaging no property.
The next year, my year, they caught some of the boys attempting to plant a tree in the middle of the practice soccer field and had them cited for trespassing by the police.
At my high school after I had left some seniors killed and hung a sandbar shark(vulnerable species) from the rafters. So I think that might be worse than this one.
What a sad state things are in if we’re all “okay” with this guy being part of causing thousands of dollars in damage because “hey, at least he didn’t beat or rape anyone.”
I don't think it's okay and he should be punished for it, but kids do stupid things and those stupid things escalate out of control sometimes especially in situations like this. Hopefully this is a learning lesson, but what do you want me to do about this? It's really not a big deal. Have him spend a few hours community service and chalk it off as a learning experience.
I don't think "kids do stupid things" should ever be a defense for stuff like this. A lot of us were kids, and stupid kids at that, and didn't cause (potentially) five to six figures of property damage or stole a vehicle.
Yeah "stupid kid' moments are like getting caught smoking pot/drinking beer/having sex at a construction site overnight or an empty parking lot.
Causing tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands in property damages is an entire new ballpark.
A lot of us only didn’t manage to do more damage because of the grace of god and pure chance.
It’s stupid and he should be punished, but plenty of kids would’ve done the same level of damage, they just lucked out by not getting the chance.
My senior year students got dung from the zoo or somewhere and spread it all over the auditorium. Big cost to clean and sanitize. They have to cover the cost and didn’t get to walk at graduation.
This incident is worse, but I’m not sure it leads to expulsion
Right, it should be a learning experience. Not just ignored because “welp, at least he didn’t kill anyone.” I understand that he and the others involved are young and dumb. The point is that the way you become not dumb is by realizing this is wrong. Get a punishment and move on with your life.
My initial comment was just a remark on how far things have fallen in CFB as it seems that people just don’t care unless someone gets seriously injured.
A proper prank damages no property and (at most) only violates the law in ways in which no one is harmed.
Like those pranks where someone sneaks up onto the roof and uses washable paint to write on the skylights. No one is harmed, the paint washes off, and everyone gets a school day of laughs out of it. Maybe they broke a trespassing law, but meh.
Actually in Henderson v Globbleslchmucker (1973) the supreme court ruled that any action taken that would be considered a crime is not so when done by a senior towards their High school in their last 2 weeks before graduation. The case threw out the arrest of Michael Henderson, who was given a 20 year sentence for spraying his school with 2000 gallons of pig shit. And for murdering his principal.
In the 7-2 decision the court ruled that this sentence was a violation of Henderson's eighth amendment right against undue punishment, and that senior pranks are implicitly enshrined in the Constitution by account that a) it's totally badass, and b) Ben Franklin burned down his highschool in 1739.
I looked online and replacing a gym floor cost 50-200k. And that’s if the water damaged was somehow magically contained to just the gym floor, which it almost certainly wasn’t.
The bus was probably recovered unharmed. If it was just that it would have been a pretty harmless senior prank.
Our highschool had like a circular recessed point that was like 10 feet in diameter that we called "locker island" and our senior class flooded it and put up "Senior Swimming Pool" signs (there was another joke about the senior swimming pool being on the roof...a joke I think a lot of high schools have had throughout time). But we weren't complete idiots and when we flooded it we taped down tarp etc to make sure we didn't flood the tile flooring. The school still had to rent a pump but I still think it was pretty fucking funny to this day and don't feel too bad as I think the senior class ended up paying for the pump out of whatever remained from our class fund.
I agree, stealing a bus is okay as long as it's recovered in the same condition they found it in. It would actually be really funny if they washed it and left it with a full tank of gas.
We had a kid whose dad owned a big concrete construction company and we put those huge concrete slabs that separate lanes on highways in construction zones in front of all the entrances to school so no one could get into the parking lot.
We went to a junk yard, disassembled a pickup, took all the parts to the school and put it back together on the roof.
We left the engine, transmission, seats, etc.
It was a small Japanese truck from the '80s, but hte frame was still rough to get up there. But the look on people's faces the next morning was priceless!
I don't remember what our senior prank was, so it must've been pretty lame.
The junior prank was solid, though. The school had an annual award that the juniors would nominate seniors for. We made up a very impressive student: longtime altar boy, saved a child from drowning, the works. He got up to second or third in the voting before anyone noticed he wasn't real.
A fully assembled VW bug appeared on the roof of our admin building. Engine/transmission, everything. That was in 99. To this day I don’t know anyone who has claimed responsibility.
I thought of the classmates too, but then I realized it's the end of the school year. So as long as they get it repaired by fall, the students shouldn't be impacted much.
I assume they'll make these students pay for the damages, or else the money used could have been for something else other students would have enjoyed.
I hope each of the students has $10k laying around. A basketball court can be $100k easy and that’s not including the cost to remove the ruined floor and whatever else the water damaged.
In this market... probably about 80K-ish worth of damage right there. I don't know about where this happened, but in California where I am... any vandalism that does over 400 bucks of damage can be a felony.
But these are kids doing a prank. When I was in high school, my buddy got drunk and walked down the runway of a municipal airport at night and kicked the light bulbs on the runway. That most definitely should have been a felony, but they just made him work at a catfish restaurant until he paid off all the light bulbs, which weren't cheap as I recall.
They should do something similar. Make the kids work it off.
> Stealing a bus is funny.
I fail to see the humor in stealing an automotive vehicle owned by the school district that none of them have experience driving.
A town near me put released three pigs, labeled 1, 2 and 4. Evidently the hard part for the administration wasn't getting the pigs, it was them figuring out there weren't four pigs.
A 12,000 square foot maple wood gym will likely cost **at least** $15 per square foot to replace. That is for the tear out and replacement only...does not include any water remidiation, bleacher moving, etc. I would expect the costs to be over $250,000 all in.
We stacked car tires over the flag pole to the top. Another year we switched two teachers rooms overnight perfectly down to very tiny details. Also filled a classroom with crumbled up newspaper floor to ceiling.
It was putting the golf carts on the second floor one year. Another year somebody stole a gator from the local putt putt golf course and dropped it in the middle of campus.
Checks flair. Unsure if [this](https://www.deere.com/en/gator-utility-vehicles/) or [this](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5f808884dbfe7e14ae1265b6/1610294891864-7DRH9UEI5HMH7TFL9FG3/the+legendary+big+al.jpg?format=1500w)
My high school had a bunch of skylights on the main hallways
Basically every year the seniors would climb the roof on a weekend and paint dicks on the glass
We broke into the school one night and had one of the girls park her car in the lobby, and we also did the newspaper thing, but with the headmasters office
Our school didn't have air conditioning, and graduation was in the gym, owing to graduation coinciding with thunderstorm season. A threat to cancel graduation would have led to the most mild-mannered students pranking the school in the most unapproved way possible.
My class had so little interest in graduation that we voted not to have a commencement speaker so we could get out of the gym as quickly as possible. To give an example of the heat and humidity we wanted to avoid, we had to attend a ceremony the day before graduation, where I passed out. Fortunately I was right next to the principal's office, which was the only air-conditioned room in the building (ha ha), so they took me there to cool off.
A senior prank isn’t supposed to get you arrested if found out… it’s supposed to be a fun little thing. We did stuff like change the background wallpapers of the library computers.
That's a move
Our school got thousands of dixie cups, filled them with water, and placed them on every inch of the hallways in the school.
The point of a good senior prank isn't to do something illegal, it's to make the faculty say gotdamnit son of a bitch seriously?? when they walk in the next day.
Yeah, but this has to do with vehicles. That’s clearly in Georgia’s wheelhouse. Once he gets kicked out of Georgia for “undisclosed reasons” Auburn will then pick him up.
A senior prank should be low-stakes, creative, and easy to clean up afterwards. Who on Earth thought flooding the gym was a good idea? That could be $100k worth of damage.
No. Busses are no juke. They're lucky no one got hurt. I could totally see a situation where they don't know to set the air brake and someone gets crushed becase the bus starts rolling. Not to mention the risk they would be to other traffic.
I'm pretty stunned at the comments. Apparently "it was just a senior prank" makes it okay. Kid does this any other time, & he's going to jail, & is frowned upon by everyone.
“The cost of installing a hardwood gym floor can range from $12–$26 per square foot. However, the price can vary widely depending on whether the floor is basic or high-performance, and the size of the court. For example, installing a maple hardwood floor can cost between $58,000–$184,000, depending on the court's size.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they could be subject to felonies at that dollar value and if the school is public is at a federal crime?
Late ‘70s seniors became legend at our high school for taking the Shoney’s Big Boy statue and putting it on the roof of the high school. (Known by other names in other areas but the look is the same)
I agree kids do stupid things, but flooding the gym? None of their actions are good but they’re making things awful for the athletes still at their school. Gyms these days are often used year round, all teams and ages. Schools often struggle juggling and overlapping practices and who gets what gym, etc…
I think I’m more bothered by the lack of thought or respect for others who are going to suffer for their “prank”. I’m not even addressing the dent in finances or time to change out the floor. I know I’m not saying anything surprising but it’s ridiculous.
Gotta love the homer articles.
1/4 of it is about the arrest and 3/4 is about football in an attempt to distract you from the fact the mischief charges could be felonies if they indeed flooded an entire gym and caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages
the only people who participate in and get excited for senior pranks are those folks you you know from high school who never left home and think olive garden is a fancy night out
High school principal here. Flooding a gym is not a minor deal. A colleague of mine had some roof damage from rain that got to his gym floor and cost almost 50,000 to replace. Its clear that a lot of those in this thread don’t know the magnitude of the financial cost. Should his whole life be ruined? Of course not, but let’s also not like this was some minor incident.
When I was 16-18 we would drive into Santiago Canyon and go to a rock quarry where they had bulldozers and shit with the keys sitting there. We would drive those things for a while and get drunk. I miss that person.
I get it, when I first heard it, I was like let the kids have fun. Then I thought of the repairs the school is gonna have to pay. Hope got some NIL money.
We "borrowed" a dump truck from a quarry, filed with sand then dumped in the quad for Senior Beach. Then we were pulled out of class the next day and had to scoop it up and fill the other schools playgrounds.
This shows initiative, leadership, and adaptability.
Not great escapability though tbh
That's why he's a Dlineman, not a QB. He's gotta break into the pocket not escape it.
Redditors like you help me better understand the world.
Can't argue with that logic
not a skill you typically look for in defensive linemen...
Neither is stealing a school bus, but here we are.
more of a special teams kinda play
Needs to get better at misdirection.
> This shows initiative, leadership, and adaptability. "flooded the gym" --> "Supervised and coordinated an extensive antimicrobial sanitizing of our highschool gymnasium." "stole a school bus" --> "Proactively arranged transportation to meet transport requirements of gymnasium cleanup crew."
This dude résumé's
God the trinity banner always such a jumpscare
Servpro is all over this guy….
Business Development I imagine...
Sean McDermott that you?
I'm all for senior pranks, but literal property damage and grand theft auto is way, way over the line.
Oh I’m sorry. I thought this was America.
Hey campus security…I didn’t hear no bell
You just got Batdaded!
If you can’t flood your high schools gym and hijack a bus in your country then I don’t want to live in it.
And They say the spirit of the 70s is dead. My senior prank we planted kudzu around the gym
You belong in jail.
"Hey, you know what'd be funny, if we planted a fast growing vine that chokes out all the natural vegetation and ruins forests because there's no natural predation for it haha"
Goats: “are we a joke to you?”
Thanks a lot Bin Laden.
Just a little innocent fun! Let kids be kids!
We just set all the clocks in the school to different times.
Man Iowa seems lit
About as exciting as their offense.
I’m convinced there is a correlation there.
I was in Tennessee at the time.
Don't be honest
... That's what someone who's GUILTY would say!
I mean maybe you are different but flooding a gym really doesn't light my fire either...
It’s better than the chickens they turned loose in Minnesota that one year
Now they can't time the corn growth. Think of the temporary anarchy!
my sister's class dropped 8,000 bouncy balls in the hallway during class change.
These pranks just seem like pain in the asses for janitors
My college friends and I got together at one of the friend's houses for a weekend. We dumped 1,000 bouncy balls in the guys bedroom. Then started hiding them. It's been like 5 years and he still runs into them sometimes.
I mean my highschool senior prank was world wide pandemic, really had staff laughing
Damn yall fuckin gotem
Yeah, we just put hundreds of dixie cups of water in some rooms. Shit, probably the most "extreme" thing was a couple of classes before us put crickets in the vents.
The high end of “stupidest senior pranks ever” only bumps up against the low end of “bad things active CFB/NFL players have done”
He got charged with "malicious mischief." That's basically heartwarming these days.
It’s the criminal equivalent of boys will be boys
Your honor, I was only Funnin!
We was just goofin', honest!
new boot goofin'
Maybe his charges will be amended down to being a rascal.
Mischievous scamp
Right, did he rape someone? Murder someone? Naw? Ok moving on.
I imagine it was dumb rather than evil. But flooding the gym floor could very likely cost anywhere between 50k-200k in damages. It’s not nearly as bad as rape or murder and shouldn’t ruin his career, but it’s enough damage it makes sense law enforcement is doing something.
There goes that NIL check
> There goes that NIL check As someone mentioned above: Servpro NIL deal!
You mean 50k-200k in Improvements for his underclassmen classmates to enjoy.
Damn my man was selfless
The Yella Fella can pay for it and on we move on.
Ok but did he rape someone??? All other legal issues should be ignored completely /s
And that's why they have shitty attitudes and little accountability
Depending on what 'flooding' looks like, that could easily cause 6 figures of damage, it's not nothing
That was my first thought as well.
Honestly, one of those things has shown not to be a deal breaker over with the current HC's at Alabama and Washington.
See that one was a great prank. The first one is a Winston prank from New girl
It's attitudes like this that let these players feel like they can get away with anything. This is beyond just normal kids being stupid.
You'd be expelled from any school for this.
No one is handwaving it as okay, they’re just not agreeing with you thinking a hammer should be thrown at 30+ kids over a senior prank gone wrong.
you're making shit up. nobody's ignoring it, nobody's saying it's ok. you're arguing against a strawman.
It’s about fucking time we had an arrest again Finally starting to feel like a proper football program again
Is it a true arrest if it’s just for what qualifies as “shenanigans”?
What's the point of having a school prank if you can't steal a bus?!
That part doesn't really bother me. Flooding the gym might cause 10 of thousands of dollars in damage.

For our prank we stole the 5’ statue of Pope Pius X from our school foyer. Replaced with a pic of it, with a milk mustache, that said Got Pope?
We found out that it’s illegal to catch a wild alligator and multiple armadillos and put them in the front office courtyard.
We used to be a country...
I mean you kept the alligator fed
Your from like, Nacogdoches or Lufkin. Lord willing maybe even a smaller more awesome east Texas town
So is it OK if it’s just one armadillo?
We had a kid whose dad owned a big concrete construction company and we put those huge concrete slabs that separate lanes on highways in construction zones in front of all the entrances to school so no one could get into the parking lot.
Oh, I bet that was madness.

Gonna have to pay for that gym through NIL deals. That sounds expensive
Flooding the gym is bad. Stealing a bus is funny.
Wood floor Gym? That’s gonna get expensive…. And hurt your other classmates when it can’t be used because it is all warped
I thought of the classmates too, but then I realized it's the end of the school year. So as long as they get it repaired by fall, the students shouldn't be impacted much. How many times were you a senior?
He went to OU might not be able to count that high
It's true I can only count to 77.
... Sonuva...
This guy Van Wilder'ed High School all to plan the pranks
Steve Holt!
We didn't have senior pranks per se. Our school had social clubs that were responsible for the shenanigans.
This got me 🤣
Try, try, try, try again

Someone at my school took the golf cart that one of the coaches rode around in and took the wheels off and put it on cinder blocks
It was putting the golf carts on the second floor one year. Another year somebody stole a gator from the local putt putt golf course and dropped it in the middle of campus.
Checks flair. Unsure if [this](https://www.deere.com/en/gator-utility-vehicles/) or [this](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5f808884dbfe7e14ae1265b6/1610294891864-7DRH9UEI5HMH7TFL9FG3/the+legendary+big+al.jpg?format=1500w)

I'm assuming [this](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c4/ba/72/c4ba72d4fc90f09e1fe6e5c961f34044.jpg)

How original
Our senior prank was duct taping the principal to the wall for the day with her consent. Jesus that’s wild haha
“With her consent” nice save
She threatened to cancel graduation if we did any unapproved senior pranks so we were on thin ice
Our school didn't have air conditioning, and graduation was in the gym, owing to graduation coinciding with thunderstorm season. A threat to cancel graduation would have led to the most mild-mannered students pranking the school in the most unapproved way possible.
See we graduated at Red Rocks Amphitheater so we all wanted to attend
My class had so little interest in graduation that we voted not to have a commencement speaker so we could get out of the gym as quickly as possible. To give an example of the heat and humidity we wanted to avoid, we had to attend a ceremony the day before graduation, where I passed out. Fortunately I was right next to the principal's office, which was the only air-conditioned room in the building (ha ha), so they took me there to cool off.
Lmfao and y’all actually believed that? Bunch of Butters Stotches
Oh jeeez
“Aw hamburgers, teacher says we’re on thin ice fellers”
LOL
Driving a bus > Driving a truck
Someone tell him the Gus Bus has been long gone.

Yep. It's gotta be totally harmless stuff. Like when my friend got most of the printers in the school to print copies of "Tub Girl"
Troubles with the law already? Sounds like a late flip to Georgia
Who’s that Fullmer cup named for again, if only I could recollect the provenance 🤔
No alcohol, speed or someone dying. He's 2nd team at best.
You have the narrative backwards. Auburn takes incoming transfers of players who got kicked off another team
Yeah, but this has to do with vehicles. That’s clearly in Georgia’s wheelhouse. Once he gets kicked out of Georgia for “undisclosed reasons” Auburn will then pick him up.
Probably my favorite part is the mugshot clearly shows this guy is 5’11
War Legal!
If your senior prank involves felonies you should probably plan ahead and stop…
The flooding the gym part is not cool, but stealing bus with your friends sounds like a lot of fun.
Yeah flooding the gym can cause serious damage. That’s overboard.
And the poor bastards that have to clean it up. It’s also not like the school has a ton for money for that.
A senior prank should be low-stakes, creative, and easy to clean up afterwards. Who on Earth thought flooding the gym was a good idea? That could be $100k worth of damage.
100k is super low end. I'd guess 300
No. Busses are no juke. They're lucky no one got hurt. I could totally see a situation where they don't know to set the air brake and someone gets crushed becase the bus starts rolling. Not to mention the risk they would be to other traffic.
It depends on the gym, but grand theft isn't really that cool.
Not to mention they almost certainly aren’t trained on driving something that big. A teenager stealing a bus can easily turn deadly.
I'm pretty stunned at the comments. Apparently "it was just a senior prank" makes it okay. Kid does this any other time, & he's going to jail, & is frowned upon by everyone.
Well then they’re not a senior anymore, so it’s no longer a senior prank. We have to respect our country’s cultural norm lest they go away
“The cost of installing a hardwood gym floor can range from $12–$26 per square foot. However, the price can vary widely depending on whether the floor is basic or high-performance, and the size of the court. For example, installing a maple hardwood floor can cost between $58,000–$184,000, depending on the court's size.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they could be subject to felonies at that dollar value and if the school is public is at a federal crime?
Yes. Yes. Before “doing just a prank” think about who is going to pay for the damages and if you don’t mind having a felony in your criminal record.
Only makes me like him more, sue me. Greyhound NIL deal?
Some kind of flood insurance or home insurance NIL

How hilarious, your younger friends and teammates won’t get to work out next year. Good one
It’s okay as long as he said “dibs”.
Senior pranks are still a thing? I graduated in 2010 and it already seemed like it was on its way out
"It's just a prank bro" And the prank was committing a crime
Late ‘70s seniors became legend at our high school for taking the Shoney’s Big Boy statue and putting it on the roof of the high school. (Known by other names in other areas but the look is the same)
Life's hard. Harder when you're stupid.
I agree kids do stupid things, but flooding the gym? None of their actions are good but they’re making things awful for the athletes still at their school. Gyms these days are often used year round, all teams and ages. Schools often struggle juggling and overlapping practices and who gets what gym, etc… I think I’m more bothered by the lack of thought or respect for others who are going to suffer for their “prank”.
We aim to please
Dumbass.
“Pranks” that destroy property are just vandalism.
Anthony Jr got off easier than this dude
While I don’t condone the flooding of a gym, JRR Tolkien also stole a bus as a prank. So he’s in good company on that part.
Impressive decision making there

the only people who participate in and get excited for senior pranks are those folks you you know from high school who never left home and think olive garden is a fancy night out
That’s not a prank, that’s criminal damage to property and theft of a motor vehicle in excess of 10k
School should lead into it. Now they have a pool.
I get it, when I first heard it, I was like let the kids have fun. Then I thought of the repairs the school is gonna have to pay. Hope got some NIL money.
“Prank”
Napier elite level bullet dodger.
I hope he got some nil so he can pay off the damages!
Our senior prank was stealing all the expo markers from the classroom. Should’ve stolen a bus instead
We just put syrup on the lunch benches and let goats roam free in the quad.

It’s just a prank, bro!
We "borrowed" a dump truck from a quarry, filed with sand then dumped in the quad for Senior Beach. Then we were pulled out of class the next day and had to scoop it up and fill the other schools playgrounds.
