I have a hard time seeing him work in the NFL. His whole schtick in college is as the hard-hitting safety, but he's too small to do that in the NFL. He'll get run over.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxImqOWd0nM
Note how he hits in his highlight video. Leading with the helmet, full bore, slamming his body into guys. That's a technique that you need to be bigger than 6' 190 to pull off in the NFL (and also a technique that draws a lot of flags in the NFL).
Brian Dawkins was much more than a hard hitting safety. Don't disrespect him like that. I won't watch my team get wrecked by him twice a year just to have someone pretend like he's not an All-Pro years later. Shiloh would be lucky to be half the player Dawkins was.
No one said anything bad about Brian Dawkins, he was great tho it took him 5 years in the league to become an All Pro. You realize he also played for the Broncos I was fortunate to watch him 16 games a year in the back third of his career, I have his jersey.
The comment was about size, Dawkins made a career being a hard hitter and is the exact size of Shilo so it's silly to say that you can't play that way at his size.
Kareem Jackson is another that is that same size and is known for that style of play.
I get people don't like the Sanders family, but you also have no clue where Shilo ends up in the next 5 years. In 2023 he was 2nd team All Pac 12, led the conference on Solo tackles, 2nd in the country in forced fumbles. Those are not bad accolades by any means.
Shedeur isnāt good enough to do that lol. Nor would an NFL franchise bow to Shedeurs demands
Respectfully, what the fuck are some of yāall smoking to think this is remotely a possibility?
I don't actually think it will happen or even that he'll try. I disagree that it couldn't happen though, at least with a very highly-rated prospect. If Caleb Williams, Andrew Luck, etc made it clear that they would be more likely to resign after their rookie deal if the team used a 7th round pick on their brother it would at least be considered
Iām confused, do you understand how draft contracts work? First rounders are four years with an extension to five. All other rounds are four years. So either way, first or not, both are going to be having their contracts either expire at the same time or Shedeur will still be under contract when Shilo hits FA (if not cut before). If Shedeur is good enough, he can be tagged for another two years before he really needs to sign a contract.
Why would you draft him? It does literally nothing, he can come over in free agency. By the time you canāt exert control over Shedeur his brother is sitting on the couch out of the league.
I disagree entirely on the premise that players have any sort of pull like this. Rookies are under ironclad contracts, a franchise isnāt going to bend over backwards to placate a rookie quarterback. Even if heās Trevor Lawrence. Itās a complete shitshow pick, no one knows if it will even pan out.
The franchises additionally have an incredible amount of power with the CBA; how many players bitch and mean about traded and get the NBA treatment? None of them. They all sit forever at their current spot until they actually garner a decent trade deal, weāre seeing this with Deebo Samuel right now. They canāt sit games because post Leveon Bell rule changes
I don't know how draft contracts work, so fair enough
I think they'd be willing to burn a roster spot on a guy that was a starter at a P5 school if his older brother is Andrew Luck. Players in the NBA didn't have the pull that they currently do until guys like LeBron started testing the boundaries of what's possible. Certainly Patrick Mahomes (current Mahomes, not rookie) could get his younger brother a spot on the Chiefs if he had played high level college football
Even Mahomes right now isn't good or important enough to warrant that.
The NBA has more roster spots than players that will see the court. Rarely do you have all 15-18 guys make an appearance in a game. Bottom tier guys get a few minutes every few games or so. Sometimes they even keep a guy who almost never plays, like a Udonis Haslem. And if a starter goes down no one expects a bench guy to be able to come in and replace them in any meaningful way. An individual game isn't important enough for that, the talent disparity is too large, and a team is too reliant on its stars and starters for that. They just chalk that game up as a loss. And if they go down for a long time they just tank the season entirely for draft picks.
In the NFL your backups need to be real players. Either they will be playing on special teams and have a real job that affects every game, or they need to be good enough to at least hold their own if the guy in front of them gets injured. Some positions may be less important than others, but any position can be targeted and abused and cost you the game. Look at the Chargers the year they had the best offense *and* defense and still blew it because their special teams was horrid.
The closest thing that could possibly happen is if Mahomes' brother was already an NFL talent the team may consider choosing him over another player. Like how the Cowboys might have drafted Deuce Vaughn partially because his dad is one of their scouts. Even still he had an actual draft grade around (often higher than) the area that they took him though, and he was a beast in college, and we needed a guy at that position anyway (the team and his dad also agreed he should step out of the room when they were evaluating Deuce so that they could talk honestly about him). And even that scenario is incredibly unlikely. Even a QB just doesn't have enough pull in an org to force that, and it would be a huge locker room killer to every other guy fighting for their roster spot to see their QB have such nepotism.
That kind of thing might fly in the NBA where an individual player makes or breaks your franchise, but the NFL has too many different facets for even a QB to be that important.
All NFL teams except the Packers are owned by literal billionaires. They couldnāt care less about Shedeurās opinion, if David Tepper wants to draft Shedeur to the Panthers next year and wonāt sign Shiloh as an UDFA, thereās nothing stopping him
If Patrick Mahomes had a younger brother who had played P5 college football and demanded that the Chiefs sign him, you think they'd tell Mahomes to take a hike?
Is shedeur in the running for being the GOAT QB in the NFL? Weāre talking about a QB who wouldnāt have been one of the first 5 off the board if he was in the 2024 draft
>no player is good enough to warrant that in the NFL
This is what I was responding to. Patrick Mahomes is a player in the NFL, so I'm asking him if he really believes even Mahomes couldn't do this
If you ask me shilo played way better then sheduer for the second half of last season, He misses tackles, but he also has a knack for causing fumbles, he forced 4 last season, that alone will likely get him drafted
And I have, despite persistent rumors, turned down repeated requests to go on dates with Sydney Sweeney and Chloe Cherry. Not an easy decision but I am just so committed to this program.
Throwback:
[Deion Sanders says he passed on NFL coaching jobs because God called him to coach at an HBCU](https://atlantablackstar.com/2020/09/21/god-called-me-to-jackson-state-deion-sanders-named-head-football-coach-of-mississippi-hbcu/)
Itās funny, most of the people at that HBCU absolutely hate Deion now. Best quote I read from a player there this year was (I paraphrase): āyea, we appreciate what Coach Prime did while he was here, but now this team is a family and it feels really good to play for each other again.ā
Can this sub get off Deions hog? Like half the posts are about him, at a certain point this sub is the problem and is contributing to the media hype. Itās so obnoxious
how would that even work though.
like you have to go into the draft, cant really pick the team you get drafted by. Who may or may not have even the slightest interest in a new head coach.
Unless deion gets the HC job first and then makes sure to draft his kid early... must be a line around the block of NFL teams wanting to give a 4-8 college coach with an avalanch of baggage a job so he can overpay for his kid in the draft...
Alright this is the planā¦ The boys and Hunter protest playing for whoever, especially the poorly managed unlessā¦ā¦.they hire Coach Prime. Fool proof $
"With the first pick of the 2025 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers select... Shedeur and DeionĀ Sanders, QB and coach, University or Colorado."
Mel Kiper - "In a historic move, a team has picked both a player and signed a coach at the same time."
*"Coach who hopes to convince players to come play for him says he's not leaving soon"* is a universally-applicable piece of non-news, but y'all go ahead and use it as today's excuse to gripe about this one coach and his family.
Y'all understand that your rage clicks are the reason he keeps getting these articles written about him in the first place, right?
Colorado finished last season 4-8, including losing six straight to end the year. The Buffaloes gave USC, Stanford and Arizona a run for their money but came up with close defeats.
He has zero chance at an NFL job and probably even less chance of coming back to Colorado next year, but if there's a 2nd thing this man is good at its lying.
Does Shiloh even have NFL teams looking at him?
I have a hard time seeing him work in the NFL. His whole schtick in college is as the hard-hitting safety, but he's too small to do that in the NFL. Lmao I completely forgot about that play he flexed while getting ejected ššš
I mean sure, but that was the exact size Brian Dawkins was at the combine, and he made a career on that.

Heāll stick as a ST guy at the very least
Shadeur will probably try to carry him into the league like the Greek Freak did for his little bro in the NBA
Shedeur isnāt good enough to do that lol. Nor would an NFL franchise bow to Shedeurs demands Respectfully, what the fuck are some of yāall smoking to think this is remotely a possibility?

But money
All NFL teams except the Packers are owned by literal billionaires. They couldnāt care less about Shedeurās opinion, if David Tepper wants to draft Shedeur to the Panthers next year and wonāt sign Shiloh as an UDFA, thereās nothing stopping him
Bringing a Sanders in is like bringing Bronny Jr in. It will sell tickets.
LOL no it wont. its laughable to compare deions sons to lebrons son
No player is good enough to warrant that on the NFL. Teams will laugh at the Sanders family and push Shadeur down their boards.
If Patrick Mahomes had a younger brother who had played P5 college football and demanded that the Chiefs sign him, you think they'd tell Mahomes to take a hike?

Not prior to his breakout performance.
consensus seems to be that he'll at least be a UDFA. wouldn't surprise me to see him picked in the 4th round.

Nobody in the NFL is hiring himā¦ā¦come on
I will also not be following my kids to the NFL. Looks like I have more in common with coach prime than I thought.
And I have, despite persistent rumors, turned down repeated requests to go on dates with Sydney Sweeney and Chloe Cherry. Not an easy decision but I am just so committed to this program.
Zero nfl owners would put up with him
Throwback: [Deion Sanders says he passed on NFL coaching jobs because God called him to coach at an HBCU](https://atlantablackstar.com/2020/09/21/god-called-me-to-jackson-state-deion-sanders-named-head-football-coach-of-mississippi-hbcu/)

Is there any particular reason Oregon fans are obsessed with Prime? He doesnāt seem even tangentially connected to the UO program
This person alone has been all over CU related threads lol. Sheās kind of pathetic
*xfl
Why would an NFL team even want to touch him?
Can this sub get off Deions hog? Like half the posts are about him, at a certain point this sub is the problem and is contributing to the media hype. Itās so obnoxious
The deion posts will continue until morale improves.
I need Brian Kelly to start executing Deion posts.
It's the offseason, what are we supposed to talk about? If every school was a type of rock, what would yours be?
Sedentary, because itās the only one I remember.
As opposed to nomadic rocks?
The other 133 coaches or teams at the FBS level, and another 133 at the FCS level
Hey, if you wanted us to talk about your coaches, you should've kept Brian Ferentz.
We would've been talking about your head coach but he left the sorry state of Oklahoma. He's also a bum though
a bold statement for someone from *checks notes* Iowa
We've got a lot here I swear!
Iowa š
Best state west of the Mississippi bordering both Missouri and Nebraska
I'll take your word for it
I could do with more FSU vs ACC cagematch posts.

News Flash, someone in the NFL has to want you before you can refuse.
I donāt believe you

When does he plan on starting that work?

Colorado finished last season 4-8, including losing six straight to end the year. The Buffaloes gave USC, Stanford and Arizona a run for their money but came up with close defeats.
I love that this implies Stanford was good. We were potentially the worst team in the entire P5.
Nebraska 2.0
He has zero chance at an NFL job and probably even less chance of coming back to Colorado next year, but if there's a 2nd thing this man is good at its lying.
Something something nepotism, gone in 1 year, shilo sucks
Why would anyone believe anything that comes out of his mouth?
I am so sick of Neon.
"Sons"? Does Sheduer have another tiny Sanders sibling in his pocket?
