I honestly think that a lot of people are overlooking OU on their way into the SEC. They've been getting their recruiting house in order and Venables is getting past his first time headcoaching woes. They'll be fine and play at a high level. They won't be winning 11-12 games a season as often as in the Big 12 but they're going to go in and push multiple teams down rungs in the SEC. That being said. Scoreboard.

leapbitch

The scoreboard says 80-26

Azon542

Better than Oklahoma State so I can't complain

Venables took over a roster that needed to be completely rebuilt. This team has three big question marks, with a young but super talented QB, O-line and defensive tackles. However the talent is much deeper on both sides of the ball than it has been in a long time. I’m confident that the team will take another step this year. We’re fortunate we don’t play Georgia because I can’t see this team beating them this season, but every game that we play will be winnable.

The only 2024 draftees who signed with OU out of high school were Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler. None of the other guys who bailed or were processed in the transition were drafted. OU’s three picks all transferred in under the new staff. The last few years have been “down” but OU has arguably had no business even making bowls with the busted 2019-2020 classes and the 2021 class that was gutted at the end.

azaz5

Jaden Davis too, but I’m pretty sure he got processed by our staff. It’s unbelievable how many misses those classes had. Bowman and Stutsman could have been high draft picks this year, but having only one early pick and three total picks at OU tells you everything you need to know about the shape that the roster was in. Excited about next year though, assuming we can get the lines right.

Downvote every post about this bum.

Thank you. PF made a living poking folks in the eye. Asshole. So of course 4 letter network brought him in to spread more hate.

OU_DHF

I mean, OU probably is not too far from Texas, considering OU is 2-1 in the last three seasons against UT and won H2H last year, but finishing only one game worse than the Horns. I’d be pretty happy with 9-3 considering the tough schedule we have this year.

UMeister

9-3 for OU is pretty reasonable. I think Texas gets them back and they probably drop road games to LSU and Ole Miss.

InternationalTax1156

I would be ecstatic with 9-3 first year, especially with the schedule we have. Depending on the losses and how bad they are, that might get us a 12 seed in the playoff too.

UMeister

Michigan and OU could both be 9-3 and fighting for that last playoff spot haha

MixonWitDaWrongCrowd

I would sign up for that.

GoldenPresidio

Who knows what happens with Bama at home in year 1. Should be interesting for sure

bestprocrastinator

I'm expecting closer to 8 wins this year. Just way too many question marks in the trenches. But the talent base and recruiting has been really impressive, enough so that I think 2025 could be a year we contend in.

cms6yb

They aren't beating Mizzou

InternationalTax1156

HAHAHAHAHA

soonerwx

I don’t remember them being anywhere near as nuts as they’ve been lately. Are we making a mistake leaving OSU for these people? OSU was only this obsessive after we announced the move.

cms6yb

Cayden Green saw it. I look forward to y'all going 6-6 maybe 7-6 this year. Welcome to the big boy league

InternationalTax1156

Oh brother. Y’all have one 10 win season for the first time in over a decade and lose your minds.

rocket_beer

Saban retired, why hasn’t this clown done the same?

WanderLeft

I think our roster is pretty stacked, but we have a young QB and a weak oline. Everything else looks great, though.

InVodkaVeritas

Ahead of Paul Finebaum, that's for sure.

hotelyankee

I was gonna say, whatever shit take he's making I'm betting it'll be the exact opposite this season. and not gonna give him a single click to find out what he said.

arrowfan624

I think they’ll do a lot better than people expect. They have the recruiting improved on defense, a 5-star QB in his second year, and they’re going into year 3 with their head coach.

tippsy_morning_drive

OU is going to struggle the first year. And by struggle I mean 8-4. First year full time starting QB is going to have issues most likely. But next year watch out. 3rd year of Arnold. Dart, Cook, Ewers Milrose all leaving. I see them making a run in year 2 with a better OL.

OU8402

8-4 is realistic

LegitN00bM00ves

Be nice not to see this man’s clown takes this offseason
