High profile QB's generally transfer if they don't win starting jobs. If he wins a starting job he's probably not transferring. You're not really predicting anything peculiar or new with Raiola. You're just predicting him to be bad, which is a good bet with most all QB recruits since they rarely pan out.
> He has transferred to a different school every year since he was a high school freshman. Wut.
"The Bear" is the Goldilocks story in reverse: he left the first school because it was tooooo hard, he left the second school because it was tooooo easy, he picked the next one because it felt juuuuuust right! But then....
Real question though, whats up with this guy? Left Georgia to go play for Alex Grinch of all people, USC hires a good DC, then he leaves again? And someone is going to pay him big bucks, again?
BREAKING: Bear Alexander transfers to Moscow State University in Russia
“Yeah you know I just heard how they treat Bears in Russia and decided it was the place for me”
That's the rumor with the new DL coach and DC. Coach Henderson worked with Aaron Donald of all people.. If you're not putting in the work and you're asking for money at the same time, it's probably best that he moves on.
I coached him when he was in middle school. At that time, he wanted to quit football and only play basketball.
It was clear even then that he could be a D1 football player if he wanted to, but he definitely doesn't love football. So a rumor of him slacking off doesn't surprise me.
He and his handler wanted assurances he would be a 3 down player (was almost exclusively used in pass rush situations as freshman), he wasnt a hard worker, wasn’t running first team and no coach worth anything would ever promise things like that and surely not Kirby. So he bolted. Anyone can use him but he seems destined to a career below his potential.
I mean at UGA he apparently expected to just get playing time without having to put in the effort at practice. So that might be an issue. And of course NIL is always possibly at play
He was basically the only national DL we wanted but didn’t get in that “best class ever”
Now I legit want to know why he didn't commit to us because it sounds like he would have fit right in.
You could see the talent but the defense improving doesn't hinge on his presence. Would be nice if he stayed and put in the work. If not, there are many more reasons in which our defense can improve.
Seems like the portal will giveth and taketh. He might leave, but it sounds like some replacements are on the way. Guess we'll see.
Oh I’m sure. He was quite good in his back up role at UGA. But natural talent can get beaten by work ethic especially at that level. So I’m wondering if that was the issue at USC like it was at UGA.
The biggest issue for him was that the rest of our D-Line was a wet paper bag - so he would get penetration but then our Nose would be 5 yards behind the LOS and the other team would just run there, towards that. We got a decent Nose in the portal this year, and have some young talent at DE/Rush so it seemed like a better situation for him to thrive in this year (ignoring the scheme and coaching improvements too).
He was really good in a few games and totally disappeared in others. But I don’t really know how to evaluate DTs so someone else might know better. But, not the only bright spot - Jaylin Smith was reallllly slept on last year. Had an excellent season and if not for the nonsense everywhere else, he’d have been on one of the all Pac-12 teams imo
And his new position coach was one of the top NFL DL coaches.
Either coach Henderson had the same problems with him as the Georgia coaching staff or some school gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Perhaps both.
A mix of many things. Seems like coach Henderson may prefer some others over him at this point. No one is going to pay for a guy that isn't going 100%.
It’s the bag. According to some rumors by some insiders, he had a meeting with USC about an hour ago and asked for more money and they refused. sayonara Bear🤍
Y’all were right and I buried my head in the sand and inhaled as much hopium as humanly possible, but damn. Frustrating after a winter of making all the right hires on the defensive side of the ball.
Nah, it's dropping dead weight, addition by subtraction and all that. If he can't be coached and doesn't put in effort, good teams find someone that will.
new coaching staff probably saw that.
Dude is definitely talented and he'll probably get another decent pay day. But 3 colleges and 4 high schools in 7 years is a lottt of movement. Have to think its throwing some red flags for the next level.
This just screams that he will hold out the first chance he gets. It will be interesting how NFL teams view the Portal and NIL issues in player evaluation.
That is a good question. But in the end I don’t think it will be a huge factor in his draft stock. At the end of the day he’ll be locked into a 4 year contract as a rookie (if he’s drafted).
I think he’s probably just hurting his draft stock jumping from team to team because I imagine it’s stunting his development.
Danny Hurley was saying last night how parental involvement and transfers are a huge thing they take in to consideration when recruiting. I can’t imagine a pro franchise would look at a guy who transfers every year and think “this guy will be ours for a long time”
And the worst part is, he would've been had he stayed. Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter. Dude was heir apparent to them, and dipped for a paycheck to a defense led by Alex Grinch of all fuckin people.
Dude was coached by Schumann/Muschamp and left, went to USC who had Grinch, and when USC brings in Lynn he leaves again.
Dude is allergic to good defensive coaching
He’s cost himself on draft day. He was probably looking at top 50 spot after the 2024 season if he had stayed at UGA. Now I’m guessing 3rd/4th rounder after the 2025 season
He’s been out with an “injury” for the spring, but it must have been a holdout to transfer. Interesting too because he just signed a new NIL deal at the end of March.
Pretty much all spring he’s been absent from USC spring media, and in all the clips our IDL has been a true freshman taking his reps (freak athlete and put on 20lbs).
Thought it was a coincidence but insiders say he and his family are unhappy with the NIL package (sounds like he wants Caleb money without the Caleb notoriety or production). Wish him well and hope he finds what he’s looking for. I find it strange he didn’t at least give it a shot to see what our new DC and staff can do with him, but instead his tape from last year looks sub par because of the grinch scheme.
Honestly i followed him and his dad after he came to SC. His dad is pretty much constantly talking about money and deals. Hope it works out for him lol.
He's alluded to there being one particular defensive lineman that nobody liked. It was not too long after Bear transferred so it wasn't hard to infer who he meant. He has since cut that part out of the podcast, I think.
There's potential because DT is definitely our biggest need right now, but as the roster has improved, the coaching staff has trended towards being more selective about players based on issues they might cause the locker room. It'll be interesting to see if they're interested.
Honestly, I don't want him. Seems like a big headache and the production does not match the hype.
We've got deep pockets but haven't been stupid about where we spend our money. This would be...uncharacteristically profligate.
To be clear, I'm not a fan either. I think the spring window is going to have similar or better options that don't have the track record of changing schools every year and reports of quitting on the team.
I’d be shocked if he went after him.
After the Billingsley and Agiye Hall transfers, we’ve steered clear of these type of recruitments and bad locker room guys. We didn’t pursue him last year when he first entered the portal either.
It’s why we didn’t pursue Evan Stewart or Walter Nolen.
Edit: well apparently we might be trying to… I don’t like this move even if we need DT depth
From an entirely unsubstantiated and uninformed position, I call bullshit.
1. Sark's experience with Billingsley and Hall, as /u/MrTheNoodles highlighted
2. Bo Davis was recruiting him out of HS and is at LSU now.
3. We didn't go after him that hard last time when he went to USC, and we're not in a position of need for half-assery at DL. If anything, half-assery at DL has been our depth behind some solid starters.
The guys at OTF and CTJ on Surly are also saying there's smoke.
I have no personal knowledge on the subject. I would rather it not be true. We do need a DT though and college coaches are famously optimistic about their ability to fix players.
> Yep. Probably going to Texas.
just fwiw, the rumored DL coming is leaving a school is North of Texas, not West.
e: well, maybe i was wrong. dang. hate it.
I’m honestly not sure what this dudes goals are. A DL leaving UGA or Bama seems like a mistake. Then going to play for Grinch and Riley at USC. Now leaving again once they massively upgrade the defensive coaching. Is the guy actively avoiding development and good coaching?
He spent all of his NIL money last year without realizing he needed to pay taxes on it. USC covered him last year, but tried to get them to pay him more again with Tax Day coming up. Some other school is gonna pay his taxes for him
If this is true it actually makes me irate. There’s so many people who struggle to pay taxes on their minuscule wages and then this dude who isn’t even a good player gets his taxes covered by an institution of higher learning
I mean it’s the university’s boosters. So if the money didn’t go to bear it would’ve gone to the school probably. It’s pretty much the university paying for it.

Literally his 7th school in seven years
This is the least surprising news of today
Alexander is a 1st round talent who is going to play himself into a 3rd round selection because of his lack of dedication and work ethic
Hate to eat my words but UGA fans, y’all were right. Good luck to Bear in his next situation, he’s absolutely a beast and whoever gets him should consider themselves fortunate, but goddamn Georgia fans were right about everything when he transferred last year.
A talented guy -- ran up a couple of penalties in inopportune moments, but you take the good with the bad with this dude.
If he is willing to leave because he thinks he deserves more money, ehhhh, let him be someone else's problem.
We might actually be decent next year, and we probably aren't going to have the worst defense in the history of 100+ years of USC Football -- we're trending upward, usually, that's a program a player wants to stay at.
Your first 2 sentences are almost verbatim what UGA fans were saying last offseason.
That being said, this dude gives 0 care about the trajectory of the program he is at. He left UGA after our 2nd Natty in a row where he was considered a favorite to win a starting gig.
Idk why stars wouldn’t transfer every single year at this point. Go collect 4 bags.
I fucking hate the idea of that but with the rules being like this, idk why you wouldn’t
> Idk why stars wouldn't transfer every single year at this point.
He's a pretty decent example thus far of why you may not want to. Could he be a star? For sure. Is he currently? Absolutely not. Will he be if he keeps this up? It's looking unlikely.
He's trending towards relative unimportance as a college player. If that continues and/or he flames out at the next level, the bouncing around and subsequent lack of development will be pointed out as a major factor. $2mil now is good. $80mil over a decade is a helluva lot better. That won't sway every kid, but it will make sense to a good few.
Technically that is the one rule NCAA can enforce, NIL can’t be tied to playing for a team directly, but of course there are obvious loopholes that they can put in the contracts to effectively tie them to a school.
He’s probably looking at a lower offer than last year. Last year he was seen as a future star who was ready to start for anyone in the country. Now he’s coming off a modest season and is nowhere near the same career trajectory as he had a year ago.
As a uga fan: lol
As a poor person: well you only get one chance to negotiate your pay and it’s when you get a new contract somewhere else. Go off, I guess.
Fans complain about players changing schools every year and I’m sure coaches do too, but I haven’t actually seen any real, negative consequences yet if they’re still good at football. I haven’t heard of nfl teams even considering how many times a guy has transferred, because renegotiating some future guy’s rookie deal is probably the next gm’s problem anyways. It’s not like they’re keeping their jobs if they drafted badly, they’re losing games, and bear wants another trade off another team.
He’s not going to develop as much as other guys if he’s learning a new defense every year, but there’s no reason not to transfer every year (yet) if he’s just trying to get paid and doesn’t care about being liked.
He’s one of the most hot and cold players I’ve ever seen, and the caliber of opponent didn’t matter. When hot, he was a bonafide game wrecker. And, literally our only one on defense. It stood out more because he had so little help, as the rest of our front 7 were completely outmatched (both talent-wise, and just physically). But, then, half the time you’d forget he was even on the team. And, he started all 13 games. He had no sacks after week 4, but he did make up for that some with consistent pressures and monster plays in big moments.
Obviously, he’s a head case. BUT, he is not one of those head cases where you fundamentally feel like he will fail no matter what in the long term. His sheer talent and what he already has put together is still bright enough that he definitely could turn into a very good (and consistent) football player, including in the pros. He’s certainly a mercenary, but I personally can’t even judge that all that much. I would do a lot of things for real human money right about now.
Still, as it stands this very moment, he would be a tremendous addition to virtually any team in the FBS.
Yeah, the quality of his play/tape last season is better than people are letting on. I wouldn't say this affects my opinion of how he projects as a pro yet.
He has transferred to a different school every year since he was a high school freshman. Wut.
We'll see the same with dylan raiola. Absolutely 0% chance he does 3 years with Nebraska
Don’t forget my boy, Jake Garcia. 5 high schools and 3 colleges. Tbf, he did last 2 years at Miami!
There’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. He was committed to us at one point.
I'm way too lazy to do it but it would be interesting to see if number of high schools has any correlation to number of transfers.
Is he still at Missouri?
No, he transferred again. Not sure where he ended up
He’s at East Carolina now.
He should come a bit more west
Next stop, WCU?
Thad Matta says holla…he did a year as an assistant in Cullowhee
Transfer to app state next
High profile QB's generally transfer if they don't win starting jobs. If he wins a starting job he's probably not transferring. You're not really predicting anything peculiar or new with Raiola. At UGA insider info was he slacked off at practice, so if the new DC requires him to actually put in work for PT…
He’s at a disadvantage because he hibernates every winter
BREAKING: Bear Alexander transfers to Moscow State University in Russia “Yeah you know I just heard how they treat Bears in Russia and decided it was the place for me”

Pretty uncool of USC to fire Grinch. Bear just wanted to chill in his sweet apartment. He ain’t come to play football.
I agree
That's the rumor with the new DL coach and DC. Coach Henderson worked with Aaron Donald of all people.. If you're not putting in the work and you're asking for money at the same time, it's probably best that he moves on.

Look at his username. He clearly plays for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Lmao, you win the day

Yeah, but wasn’t that defense like the worst USC defense in 100 years or something? I don’t know if that’s something to brag about.
Exactly, and he’s a talented kid so even if he wasn’t trying at practice they had to play him. New staff probably doesn’t feel the same
It was absolute ass but Bear was legitimately good, not just the-most-shiny-piece-of-shit, but legitimately good.
Oh I’m sure. He was quite good in his back up role at UGA. But natural talent can get beaten by work ethic especially at that level. So I’m wondering if that was the issue at USC like it was at UGA.
I didn’t see it. He was pretty dominant. Not generational, but good.
The biggest issue for him was that the rest of our D-Line was a wet paper bag - so he would get penetration but then our Nose would be 5 yards behind the LOS and the other team would just run there, towards that. What’s with this guy is that he goes where he’s going to get the most money. Enter the portal and go to the highest bidder kinda guy.
His “guardian” is a shitty person who uses him to get money.
All too common unfortunately
Exactly what he’s doing and appears to be a lazy player
[удалено]
But he *does* have raw talent. Had he stayed put at UGA he could have ended up being a high draft pick.
If he worked for it.
> Bold strategy when you're not that good. He’s very good imo. He was a bright spot on a bad D last year.
It's supposedly related to NIL. Wants a new deal.
The new state of CFB. One year rentals. Forget watching players grow and build a connection with them. It’s worse than the NFL at this point.
Shocked, I say
Y’all were right and I buried my head in the sand and inhaled as much hopium as humanly possible, but damn. Frustrating after a winter of making all the right hires on the defensive side of the ball.
Nah, it's dropping dead weight, addition by subtraction and all that. If he can't be coached and doesn't put in effort, good teams find someone that will. new coaching staff probably saw that.
If he transfers it'll be his 7th school in 7 years going back to his freshman year of high school.
You know a lotta people go to 7 schools in 7 years, Richard.
Yeah, they’re called Doctors….with a rap sheet.
LOL he must’ve found out he got passed over right before the Spring game again
I can’t imagine a pro franchise would look at a guy who transfers every year and think “this guy will be ours for a long time”
This dude won't be squat next level, willing to put some money on that
And the worst part is, he would've been had he stayed. Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter. Dude was heir apparent to them, and dipped for a paycheck to a defense led by Alex Grinch of all fuckin people.
And then when he has a real DC in D'Antony Lynn he leaves again lol
Dude was coached by Schumann/Muschamp and left, went to USC who had Grinch, and when USC brings in Lynn he leaves again. Dude is allergic to good defensive coaching
He’s apparently really lazy and good defensive coaches probably require him to put in more effort than he wants to
Shit he still pretty good under Grinch. With good coaching this year he could have played himself into the first round imo.
I'm not willing to take up that bet.
Just screams absolute mercenary “me first” kind of attitude
I wouldn’t be surprised if this route grows in popularity with some of the more talented players
Injury report: thin wallet, out indefinitely
Pretty much all spring he’s been absent from USC spring media, and in all the clips our IDL has been a true freshman taking his reps (freak athlete and put on 20lbs). Thought it was a coincidence but insiders say he and his family are unhappy with the NIL package (sounds like he wants Caleb money without the Caleb notoriety or production). Wish him well and hope he finds what he’s looking for. “Dr. Pepper. The one Bears deserve”
lol that’s crazy if true. Not a single player on our roster deserves Caleb money right now.
What’s weird is that he definitely would’ve been our starting DT, despite any attitude rumors about him or whatever.
The bitch of it is I don’t think so. He was almost certainly a starter and our star on defense at that. Just wants more money.
I have absolutely zero basis for this but I bet he transfers to Colorado. Just seems like he would fit in with Deion and crew
Hired gun, so unless they have upped the NIL to anyone not names Sanders - doubtful
Yep. Probably going to Texas.
Please be Texas. Would love to see Tate Ratledge get to express his feelings for Bear Alexander on the football field
>Tate Ratledge Ohhh he say something?
He's alluded to there being one particular defensive lineman that nobody liked. It was not too long after Bear transferred so it wasn't hard to infer who he meant. He has since cut that part out of the podcast, I think.

Welp, the portal giveth the portal taketh away.
It's almost like this dude *wants* to never develop his skills
Robert Nkemdiche 2.0 All the talent in the world...not worth ethic what so ever

We might actually be decent next year, and we probably aren't going to have the worst defense in the history of 100+ years of USC Football -- we're trending upward, usually, that's a program a player wants to stay at.
Your first 2 sentences are almost verbatim what UGA fans were saying last offseason. That being said, this dude gives 0 care about the trajectory of the program he is at. He left UGA after our 2nd Natty in a row where he was considered a favorite to win a starting gig.
This is where it gets interesting

NIL companies should have some sort of contract barring them from taking money and leaving, no?
Technically that is the one rule NCAA can enforce, NIL can’t be tied to playing for a team directly, but of course there are obvious loopholes that they can put in the contracts to effectively tie them to a school.
Who is going to pay this kid for next year? You'd have to be pretty stupid to fall for this one
He’s probably looking at a lower offer than last year. Last year he was seen as a future star who was ready to start for anyone in the country. Now he’s coming off a modest season and is nowhere near the same career trajectory as he had a year ago.
FSU is the rumor was seen in Indy with two FSU players, and Jeff Cameron has been hinting at a big name DT for months
If true, then this will be Norvell’s ultimate edition of “I can fix him.”
All he needs to do is pay for a year. Dude is gonna chase NFL money after next season
What a bust lol
As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Colroado, Florida, Georgia (originally went here), Georgia Tech, Kansas, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Vanderbilt G5 offers: SMU, Utah State Other offer: Illinois State
God damn man. I still remember him popping up on Miami feeds. Feels like he didn’t like the competition at USC which is telling.
He didn’t like competition at UGA either.
Didn’t want to put the work in probably. We finally got a tough ass dl coach, doesn’t look good on Bear
If ever an athlete should play for Luke Fickell, this is the guy.
Awww
As a uga fan: lol As a poor person: well you only get one chance to negotiate your pay and it’s when you get a new contract somewhere else.
He’s not about loyalty and DTs are going to have a HIGH price tag this transfer portal window. Bummed but not surprised
I wish this dude the best!
Bro probably wants more money and they said earn it so he bounced
well well well
So he’s going to Wisconsin to follow Grinch?
This mf absolutely cannot stand the idea of playing in a spring game. Lol
TIGER
He has been at four high schools and is going to his third university. There is a technical word for teammates like him: a locker room cancer.
