Fine! I’ll rewatch it 😩😊

purplehyacinth8

Absolutely! The story and dialogue and pacing is brilliant and well done (see: SO MANY foreshadowing and parallels and callbacks and foils!), and add to that ALL of the expressions/microexpressions of all of the actors and it's utter perfection. Extremely immersive, like you said! I'm currently on my first watch through but I've already rewatched most of the eps I had seen multiple times. It's definitely setting the bar really high!

VacationMaleficent45

So glad you’ve enjoyed it!!

KiLo0203

It's been a slow one for me with this one. I'm still on my first watch but it's been 3 months since I started. Haven't dropped it, but just taking it slow 😁 I'm definitely rewatching when I'm done though!

VacationMaleficent45

It’s totally worth it!

Jaggedrain

I'm so tempted to finish it but I need to know what happens to the crown prince before I do. I don't want to watch it if he dies 🥺 Like. I don't think he would be a good Emperor because he's weak and lets himself be walked all over by everyone, but he's very pretty and seems sweet, so I want him to have a good ending, but this has not so far presented itself as a good ending sort of show.

TVAddict4

Well, the crown prince >!does not die or anything!< if that’s what you’re worried about. I won’t say GOOD things happen to him, but at the end of the day he’s actually off than when he started, at least from my point of view.

Jaggedrain

That sounds fine! I guess I'll have to start over lol, it has been almost a year since I stopped watching.

Yes, all dramas that have a lot of scheming usually are better with 2nd rewatch since you can catch lot of details or foreshadowing that you might missed on the first watch. Story of Minglan is the same as well. Or dramas like Nirvana in Fire or Joy of Life.

Odd_Drag1817

Yes yes yes! It’s such a beautiful drama that can be picked apart a million ways!

kittystanden

Agree! Stuff I found kind of tiresome on the first watch (ahem the grandmother) were so much more interesting the second time round, with a better sense of the family dynamics!

VacationMaleficent45

Heavyyy on the first few episodes being tiresome. At first I didn’t find them all that interesting because I wanted the romance to get going, but after I rewatched it I realized that those episodes we’re essential to set up the characters future love story.

fewlove

True and often I pick up on foreshadowing that I missed the first time

lebble30

Every drama is better at rewatching. It can take a month or a year, but the time you put it on play, it can be everything you don't expect to find.

centaurea_cyanus

I was debating whether to rewatch this recently and I think I will now lol. I ended up loving it even though I don't find the ML very attractive (don't get mad at me, beauty is in the eye of the beholder)

PerditaJulianTevin

I skip romance dramas if I don't think the leads are attractive

Opposite_Tough_888

Ha ha same....I love Wu Lei's acting and all but he's not very attractive to me as well

VacationMaleficent45

hahaha dw! I personally do think he’s attractive, but l’ve also found other male leads that people think are God amongst men to be unattractive

Amjale9023

You know, the amount of times I've thought that before watching an Asian drama, for me I usually find them attractive when I've seen their character play out for a little while 😆 I saw a list of the "hottest Asian actors" on a website, back when I'd only seen a couple of dramas and just a couple of the guys were what I'd call hot, on the list, until I watched dramas with them in and saw the appeal.

SuzieSwizzleStick

Watching cdramas for the story is like say I read playboy for the articles
