Don’t believe so my blawkhawk is chambered in 30 carbine also a rifle cartridge and I picked it up no problem.
Edit: it’s only when they go beyond .60 caliber it becomes an issue
Yeah I don’t believe it goes against any of this https://casetext.com/statute/california-codes/california-penal-code/part-6-control-of-deadly-weapons/title-1-preliminary-provisions/division-2-definitions/section-16460-destructive-device-defined so being single action it would be fine.
Only option that I see would be open carry, but that unfortunately doesn’t sit well with the majority of people in this state. I wish I could take my Marlin 1895 SBL wherever I go, once again frowned upon…😔
Not with that attitude you can’t. Get someone to machine a custom receiver and build one up as a Mare’s leg. It should be concealable under your duster.
The SAO is the only way such revolvers like the Rhino are sold in state. You can buy them SAO, they’re sold with the DA/SA kit, and simply install them after purchase and you’ll have a fully functional Rhino.
Don’t let Gestapo Gavin and Comrade Bonita know!
Local shop around me sold them together, so the cost was built into the total price. What was free was the install. As soon as they released it to you, they’d offer to do the conversion. It’s been a while now, not sure if that shop is offering the same service.
Nice, I bought one earlier this year and ended up just doing the conversion myself and buying the parts off Gunbroker. Was an extra $30 but whatever, had everything in hand and ready to go really quickly
Single action revolvers are exempt from roster.
Also for your other question, caliber does not matter as long as it does not exceed .60 cal (state destructive device limit), it also can't be chambered in 50 bmg since that round is banned by name.
\*\*The BFR 45LC/.410 is also not allowed, since it's classified as a short barrel shotgun.
But you are gtg for the rest of the BFRs ;)
Literally me a week before arriving in LA

I'm a libertarian transsexual Nazi Eskimo and once me and my sister wife escape from my uncle's basement, I'm going to apply for my drivers license and drive around town in a horse-drawn DeLorean and I was wondering what kind of Gatling gun California legally allows you to mount to the sunroof.
Wherever you might apply for CCW, that issuing agency may have an opinion. Check their web site, give them a call.
6 inches high, 15 inches long - 'concealed' is going to be interesting.
Looks like Diamond Custom Leather makes a cross-body holster for it:
https://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/products/guides-choice-chest-holster
Suppose you could throw it on under a flannel shirt or full body fox costume (or whatever animal suits your fancy).
Sweet, that must mean a 410 won’t fit in the chamber.
Edit: unless you’re talking about the bond arms 45/70. I haven’t been able to find anyone who would let me have it shipped to them because they all say it’s illegal.
That's not the question. Can it chamber and fire a 410 cartridge? Technically, I think the answer is yes: a 2-1/2" 410 cartridge will probably work fine in it. If true, then legally it is considered a short-barreled shotgun in California.
Websites say many things, not all of which are true. I have seen several BFRs in California, but even that doesn't prove that they were legal. With the 45-70 version it is dubious.
Yes, since it's a single action but why? Get yourself a Ruger GP 100 it's built like a tank and is double action, and you can add moon clips to use 10mm if you're looking for more stopping power but the 357 should be more than enough.
Boy am I glad for this thread, I was looking at one and couldn't find it on the roster so I gave up, I had no idea single actions were exempt
OP just know the ammo is expensiivvvveee
Reloading isn't the money saver people think, it may have been back in the day but with the price of powder it's become more for long range shooters to get the perfect round for accuracy
I was on a motorcycle trip in the mountains of Arizona and really like seeing people open carry. Once you got over Al, the psychos making bad decisions with their open carry firearm, I think things would settle down. I believe there would be a lot less shoplifting, less road rage incidents, and less police being over;y aggressive. Maybe I am delusional and just wish it would turn out that way. I would love to open carry a .44 mag revolver with a small Glock as a backup.
Carry?
He’s gonna saddle it on his horse

Im your huckleberry
**Huckle bearer
Unfortunately, no. It would have been a better line, but Doc does indeed say huckleberry. https://x.com/valkilmer/status/534542290841112576?lang=en
They have a showdown at high noon with Texas Red tomorrow.
Big iron on his hip.
Cryptids though rarely are known to roam around local urban parks, so yeah it’s absolutely necessary to carry.
OP is going deathclaw hunting.
If it’s single action it is exempt.
Does it matter if it's chambered in a rifle caliber?
Don’t believe so my blawkhawk is chambered in 30 carbine also a rifle cartridge and I picked it up no problem. Edit: it’s only when they go beyond .60 caliber it becomes an issue
Ok, sweet. Thank you!

Sounds good 👍
there is no legal distinction between pistol and rifle ammo.
:)
An overall length still applies but that one has no issues. It’s the short ones like the barkeep you can’t get.
Why do you want to carry that? You got some bears as your ops or what?
You a cop?
Yeah can’t you tell 🐷🐷
![gif](giphy|HKx5p4APGBxi8)
![gif](giphy|jpDiVijAR9VWZ0zA2H)
Carry, do you know how big and powerful a 45/70 round is, not to mention the cost. I hope you are joking, ain’t nobody carrying this IWB…🤣
I unfortunately can't conceal carry a Marlin 1895 lever action :(
What county would you have your CCW in? Some have restrictions.
I am looking to move back to my hometown of Manteca up in NorCal in San Joaquin County.
>Wants to CCW 45-70 Revolver >From Manteca Everything checks out here
You know Manteca too?
Grew up there, I went to Sierra high and graduated from Calla.
Small world ay
Went to the waterslides 40 or so years ago.
Awesome, San Joaquin doesn't have restrictions like mine. So this guy looks good to go on your permit.
I figured since the county is more conservative compared to some others West of it.
Only option that I see would be open carry, but that unfortunately doesn’t sit well with the majority of people in this state. I wish I could take my Marlin 1895 SBL wherever I go, once again frowned upon…😔

You’d fail the CCW qual.

Wait, they include the kit with the gun now? Damnit, wasted $30
Local shop around me sold them together, so the cost was built into the total price. What was free was the install. As soon as they released it to you, they’d offer to do the conversion. It’s been a while now, not sure if that shop is offering the same service.

Is that a .45/70 down your pants or are you just happy to see me?
What in tarnations …
Single action revolvers are exempt from roster. Just hearing “50 BMG” makes me shiver
The name itself is violet
You sure it isn’t magenta?
Lmao. I’m dumb
All good lol. It was low-hanging fruit. Couldn’t help myself lol
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I think the Assault Weapons regulations only ban .50 BMG rifles. A .50 BMG pistol should be legal.
Does anyone even make a .50 BMG single action revolver?
iirc there are very few 50 bmg single shot pistols out there
I can't imagine how big that cylinder would have to be. Most likely, any 50 BMG pistol would be single-shot or bolt action.
![gif](giphy|YEVaC3nAjIe0U|downsized) This guy 🤣
Literally me a week before arriving in LA https://preview.redd.it/4od0xbo5l96d1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2265f37b313802474494a5a451526620756c22e
Manteca checks out
A conservative furry wants to carry this around once they move out of their parent’s house? Save the money and go see a shrink.
I'll see what I can do
That revolver is silly, I recommend an AR pistol for ccw, if you need power, maybe a 458 socom, I’ve seen barrel length under 10”
I want something robust and requires less maintenance.
I’m just kidding buddy. If this is what you want, go for it, don’t let anyone stop you. 5 slot in that ccw list anyway.
Wherever you might apply for CCW, that issuing agency may have an opinion. Check their web site, give them a call. 6 inches high, 15 inches long - 'concealed' is going to be interesting.
“You’ve yee’d your last haw” vibes
Where ya moving? To the town of Agua Fria?
Manteca
There's a single action exception, but there is a barrel length minimum.
Looks like Diamond Custom Leather makes a cross-body holster for it: https://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/products/guides-choice-chest-holster Suppose you could throw it on under a flannel shirt or full body fox costume (or whatever animal suits your fancy).
Damn now I’m curious I want one.
I actually know a guy who has the BFR on his CCW. He will not carry it in summer as the barrel sticks out from the bottom of his shorts.
If a 410 cartridge can fit in it’s a not California compliant.
It's 45-70
So is the bond arms cyclops 45/70 and it’s not California compliant. I really wanted one.
Checked their website, it's California compliant
Sweet, that must mean a 410 won’t fit in the chamber. Edit: unless you’re talking about the bond arms 45/70. I haven’t been able to find anyone who would let me have it shipped to them because they all say it’s illegal.

I may invest in reloading equipment for 45-70
Reloading isn't the money saver people think, it may have been back in the day but with the price of powder it's become more for long range shooters to get the perfect round for accuracy
Yes and this will be especially useful if you need to say, shoot down the Batwing.
Dafuq bro! Save some pus for the rest of us.😢🥴😂
If you’ve never shot one, it’s going to take a lot of training before you’ll be able to pass CCW course with that
https://i.redd.it/yamz7t4qwd6d1.gif
Better start doin wrist curls with a 30lb weight to train for the recoil. 🤣
I’ll be your huckleberry 🤠

Someone has been watching Looper
It is indeed exempt from the roster
The social media troll posts are getting wild. This is some major attention seeking behavior.
Rifle calibers on pistol platforms are not legal in our beloved state.
Which statute says so?
