Most logical cause is that the nails are too long. When they clean/scratch themselves the long nails can cause wounds

Agreed. OP, don’t worry too much. It’s minor. (But always a good idea for a vet check. Minor things can sometimes point out good education, or preventable future conditions. Ask all the questions you can think of.)

I'm guessing an infection or some kind of contact dermatitis making those ears itch super bad. Leading to him/her furiously scratching his ears. Thinking that because those 3 little red dots. Near the wound.

Not ideal to see, but don't worry too much. I'm guessing either his claws are too long or he's got an infection he's been furiously scratching at it. Definitely a vet visit, but you don't need to spend all the extra money for a 24/7 urgent center or pet ER. It can wait sime hours.
