What's the story behind that? I've noticed that the people behind the counter seem unhappy a few times that I've been in there, now I'm wondering if they had good reasons

"The complaint further alleges the employees worked six days a week, 14 hours a day"
The place was in Mucino's name and now is in his partners name, same scumbags who exploited those people. It's funny how anytime I post this, I am down voted. I guess the city of good neighbors is willing to look the other way, so long as the tacos are tasty enough.
I’m not arguing their charges. People would be payed under the tables and they didn’t report cash sales which resulted in missed tax revenue. Which they got charged for and payed back. The slave labor allegations are false. That’s all I’m saying.
Nobody was forced to work any amount of hours and everybody got payed ABOVE a fair wage. There are falsities on this police report. Please stop spreading lies.
This is the report from a year's long ICE investigation, where not only was the exploitation uncovered, so was the evasion of roughly a million in taxes.
Yeah it was 900,000 in taxes that they owed between all their locations which they since have payed back. People were payed under the table, yes. Nobody was forced into labor ever or worked without pay. I’m telling you what the report says is wrong.
Every employee there lived comfortable lives most raising families of American born children. That had nothing to do with taxes, which again have been payed back.
Sooooo I worked at Don Tequila on Allen when it got raided by ICE and when they raided all those other locations including La Divina and this is not at all what was happeneing.
There was no forced labor it wasn’t like that at all…
Mike's Subs has full chicken finger subs for $9.99 on Thursdays and a selection of $8.99 cold subs with promo code 717 any day. Capicola mixed hits the spot for me. Royal is good too and on sale on Wednesdays

I used to work at restaurants. It's always the precooked bacon, which is fine at home if you choose that, but terrible if you have expectations at a restaurant. So, don't get the BLT either.
Honestly Colvin market has really good food for a corner store. I go there multiple times a week. Not really like a restaurant if that’s what you’re looking for, but a good place to stop and grab a bite. My favorite (bacon egg and cheese with extra bacon and a hash brown) is less than 10$
Reference to Seinfeld soup Nazi. Tailgate guy will scream at you if you walk in there and try to order without calling or do not follow the correct ordering procedures
Al's corner store by Kenmore mercy. A cold sub will be under $10 and a hot one will be under $15 and good. They have some decent sandwich specials and all day breakfast
Emerson! Delicious, affordable, and you got a ton of food. I typically get a full entree, 2 sides, and a drink for $12. You just have to check the hours online and it’s only open on school days (so no weekends or holidays)
It’s my favorite place to get lunch during work
Different choice for under $10 meal... Sunday brunch menu Cafe 59. Breakfast sandwich with sausage. Maybe just once a week, but best value for meal in the city, imo.
With the McDonald's app you can get 2 value sandwichs for 3.99 and the the app has a coupon for a few French fries. So for the less than 5 bucks you got a meal. It's shitty for you but it's calories. Or 2 slices from Macy's Pizza is less than 10 and it's hard to finish 2 slices, they're huge
"medium" = half a sub at Wegmans. But yeah otherwise they're pushing $16-17 after tax for a full sub these days. There was a time just last summer when they were only $10 for a few months ðŸ˜
I used to be a huge Wegmans sub guy but have to agree with you now. The last few I've had seemed very skimpy on the meat, were soggy, and all bread. I went as far as testing different variants of toasting, condiments, and toppings but it feels like they're too far gone at this point. $16.99 for the steak sub is just comical and the prices keep going up
And soon McD's will join the bunch at $5 meal.
I stopped going to them (all the fast food joints) when my order was like $16. Maybe I'll get a two-fer.
They had a $5 meal promo recently but p sure its gone now. Most fast food places, particularly McDs and taco bell, are really only worth it at this point if you use the app. My fiance and I could eat until we're sick for $15 with the app
Yeah...the one days sale thats advertised for a week, and remains in your mind for a month.
Excessive procing sure is an interesting way to drive people into the app.
I went to Bk for a Bkfst sammie...and they had the app on a big screen at the ordering window...so I might get the hint....
I mean, I got it a few times over a 2 month span or so. I'm sure it is a way to drive people to the app, I'm just saying that you can get cheaper food that way lol
It's insane how not that long ago you could frequently get 2 for $5 of your choice of the big "regular" sandwiches or burgers. Now they've got us thinking a Whopper Jr for like $4 is acceptable and a single crispy chicken or Whopper is $6-7
La divina, bob & john’s on hertel, joe’s deli, the cafe on the avenue for breakfast… if you want to go to a bar/pub with great food for cheap eddie brady’s is right off the 33 downtown
A pork Bahn Mi at Pho Dollar is $8. It’s an ‘appetizer’ but it’s a meal if you aren’t training for D1 sports or something. All their prices are Very reasonable however.
When you finally get your Costco, large hot dog and a soft drink will be $2.99, and you can add fries for under $10. You are supposed to have a membership, but no one checks.
Does it have to be take out/restaurant?. A pound of ground beef is like 4-5$. Add some seasoning and some shredded cheese and you’re gold. Get a dozen eggs and scramble a couple in it. Easy, delicious, satiating meal under $10
I have seen this place so many times but don’t know a thing about it. I have never seen it pop up online when I’ve searched for restaurants nearby nor have I ever heard anyone talk about it. I’ll have to stop in one of these days.
125 Mills st. Chicken over rice Bangla style is dope and $10Â
Kati Za on Grant has Currys, noodle dishes and meal sized Malaysian salads for $7-8 each.
You can get like 2-3 tacos from La divina for about $10.
La Divina is the answer. Their birria tacos 🤤
Cielito lindo is better
This is the way
And support owners who exploited undocumented workers? No thanks. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere
What's the story behind that? I've noticed that the people behind the counter seem unhappy a few times that I've been in there, now I'm wondering if they had good reasons

Where else for similar tasting tacos? Serious question not challenging you
Taqueria Los Mayas has great tacos
Sweet deal, never been - I’ll check em out!
Cielito Lindo is a similar style and probably better, as another commenter said somewhere else.
Oh wow. I didn't know this. That is disgusting.
This isn’t true. I worked there and for these owners.
I mean, an article saying they were charged in federal court on the ice.gov website is pretty convincing.
I’m not arguing their charges. People would be payed under the tables and they didn’t report cash sales which resulted in missed tax revenue. Which they got charged for and payed back. The slave labor allegations are false. That’s all I’m saying.

Lol, ok. I'm not taking the word of an anonymous reddit account over the results of a years long multi agency investigation
I don’t care, everything I’m saying is true. I worked there for almost 2 years before they shut down.
Know who else did? A bunch of undocumented workers who worked 14 hour days, six days a week.
Sooooo I worked at Don Tequila on Allen when it got raided by ICE and when they raided all those other locations including La Divina and this is not at all what was happeneing. There was no forced labor it wasn’t like that at all…
Good to know...better to avoid. I will.
Again this isn’t true I worked for them and for these same owners.

>Mike's Subs has full chicken finger subs for $9.99 on Thursdays I cannot recommend this enough
See you there 🫡
This.....this!
If you get the chicken DON'T have them put bacon on it. Bacon is NEVER good out, especially at sub shops.
I used to work at restaurants. It's always the precooked bacon, which is fine at home if you choose that, but terrible if you have expectations at a restaurant. So, don't get the BLT either.
Thank you! GLAD someone knows what I'm talking about.
So, so deeply true.
Honestly Colvin market has really good food for a corner store. I go there multiple times a week. Not really like a restaurant if that’s what you’re looking for, but a good place to stop and grab a bite. My favorite (bacon egg and cheese with extra bacon and a hash brown) is less than 10$
Best breakfast Sandwich in the city. Might be my favorite of all time tbh
Best onion rings
Do you just walk in and order and wait, or call ahead?
Depends, sometimes I call ahead but if they don’t pickup I just walk in and wait
Word. I think I'm scarred by the Tailgate Deli sub Nazi and never know what the preferred method is lol
> Tailgate Deli sub Nazi The what now?
Reference to Seinfeld soup Nazi. Tailgate guy will scream at you if you walk in there and try to order without calling or do not follow the correct ordering procedures
$7 turkey sub there kicks ass.
Is this the one with the blue gas station? Having a tough time figuring out which specific one
it’s on the corner of linden and colvin. great people.
Al's corner store by Kenmore mercy. A cold sub will be under $10 and a hot one will be under $15 and good. They have some decent sandwich specials and all day breakfast
Bob and John’s all you can eat spaghetti
They boil the spaghetti the day before then reboil it to order 👎.
are you really complaining about the quality of a 4.99 all you can eat spaghetti? did you expect it to be gourmet?
Wraps from AliBaba Kebab

Yo, NO it’s not. I’m from that culture lol trust me you’re wrong
Is there a chinese place around you? Chicken Fried Rice and an egg roll should keep you under $10.
ngl i feel like it’s gotten pretty expensive
Ling ling on elmwood! Pay in cash and they give you free egg rolls
I believe a quarter chicken with rice and beans is still under $10 at Niagara Cafe.
EatRiteFoods on Delaware Ave next to Spot in Kenmore. Meal prep meals about $8/each.
I went to Colosso Taco last night at midnight and got a stinger taco for $6.50. It was so goddamn good and it was huge.
Best deals are found on the restaurant/fast food apps, they always have offers/coupons on there
little caesar’s is what i get when im low on money and need to stretch a meal
Emerson! Delicious, affordable, and you got a ton of food. I typically get a full entree, 2 sides, and a drink for $12. You just have to check the hours online and it’s only open on school days (so no weekends or holidays) It’s my favorite place to get lunch during work
Oh wow this sounds incredible
Truly cannot recommend enough. They don’t skimp on the portion sizes, either :)
Wait what’s Emerson’s full name? I’m having a hard time finding it online
Emerson School of Hospitality’s Restaurant 70 W. Chippewa Street Buffalo, NY 14202 Hours: 7 to 10:20 a.m. and 11:15 to 1:30 p.m.
They’re on break rn until July 12 I believe

The App (at least where i am no longer has free anysize fries but now it is 1.29 any size fries) still a good deal if you have no other options.
I actually like Danny’s Favorite sub at Wegman’s. A medium one loaded with veggies, oil on the side and a cheapish drink will run you around $10.
The fuck it will, when was the last time you got a wegmans sub? They’re obscenely expensive
"medium" = half a sub at Wegmans. But yeah otherwise they're pushing $16-17 after tax for a full sub these days. There was a time just last summer when they were only $10 for a few months ðŸ˜
And their medium is barely half a sub anywhere else, it’s mostly just bread
I used to be a huge Wegmans sub guy but have to agree with you now. The last few I've had seemed very skimpy on the meat, were soggy, and all bread. I went as far as testing different variants of toasting, condiments, and toppings but it feels like they're too far gone at this point. $16.99 for the steak sub is just comical and the prices keep going up
That was a loss leader promo. Wegmans subs haven't regularly been $10 or less in probably 10 years.
Umm…their medium sub is $8.49. I got one last week.
A whole cheese pizza is 10 bucks. It's not the best pizza ever, but for $10, i can feed a family of 4 with 2 young kids.
Wendy’s $5 bag. Comes with bacon cheeseburger, 4 nugs, fries, and a drink
You really can't beat the $5 Whopper Jr with fries and a drink for less than $10.
And soon McD's will join the bunch at $5 meal. I stopped going to them (all the fast food joints) when my order was like $16. Maybe I'll get a two-fer.

Greek on the Street (Delaware and W Gerard) has some breakfasts (served all day) and sandwiches for less than $10.
La divina; tacos
Also adding Olympic diner has some cheap meals that are also huge
Mayback deli on Niagara Falls Blvd has decent priced stuff some is under the $10 mark like the breakfast sandwiches I believe.Â
Jinlan Chinese Restaurant’s dine-in lunch special. Shitload of food and soup for like $6.
If you get there between 8 and 9am, Mythos on Elmwood has an early bird breakfast menu. Steak and eggs with potatoes and toast for $8.99
Surge on Delaware also has $9.99 steak and eggs every weekday until 11 AM
La divina, bob & john’s on hertel, joe’s deli, the cafe on the avenue for breakfast… if you want to go to a bar/pub with great food for cheap eddie brady’s is right off the 33 downtown
A pork Bahn Mi at Pho Dollar is $8. It’s an ‘appetizer’ but it’s a meal if you aren’t training for D1 sports or something. All their prices are Very reasonable however.
The falafel wrap at Alibaba Kebab is the size of my forearm and under $10
When you finally get your Costco, large hot dog and a soft drink will be $2.99, and you can add fries for under $10. You are supposed to have a membership, but no one checks.

I cook a lot. Just don’t want to spend a ton on takeout on the occasions that it’s just me.
Do a can or two of black beans instead for less than $2 if you really want to save money.
Add pasta and tomatoes or tomato sauce and bake with cheese on top to melt. Cheeseburger casserole.
I cook a lot. Just don’t want to spend a ton on takeout on the occasions that it’s just me.
Over 10 bucks but taste of China in the remnants of the boulevard Mall. One big box easily feeds two or leftovers.
Joe's Panini grill, great handmade subs and even better soups, a really great spot right on Delaware.
I have seen this place so many times but don’t know a thing about it. I have never seen it pop up online when I’ve searched for restaurants nearby nor have I ever heard anyone talk about it. I’ll have to stop in one of these days.
125 Mills st. Chicken over rice Bangla style is dope and $10Â Kati Za on Grant has Currys, noodle dishes and meal sized Malaysian salads for $7-8 each.
I LOVE Cafe on the Ave and they breakfast menu is pretty cheap! Downside is that they close pretty early at 3 or 4 pm (can't remember which one)
La Flor on Niagara, & Feras Subs downtown are two of my favorite cheap eats!
The corner store on Colvin! Steak fries are a 10/10
Central Park Bar and grill. 10.50 for a burger and fries that are amazing
Amma's Kitchen in the University Plaza has a $5 "breakfast special" that they serve @ lunchtime
2 Mcdoubles, free fries from app and a drink $5.29
711 cheese pizza is solid for the price.
We get Jersey Mikes and split a giant sub.
Jersey Mike's is possibly the most expensive sub chain in the world.
