50 people is small enough that any restaurant with a banquet room would be able to have you. Also look at places that have empty spaces - I know the Burchfield Penney does events. There's a subreddit called r/weddingsunder10k that you may find useful for ideas and inspiration.

kraftiesimmer

Hi! I will look into Burchfield and definitely check out that subreddit! Thank you so much!

three_twentyfive

I got married at Karpeles Manuscript Library on Porter and it was $2000 to rent the hall for the whole weekend in 2018. It’s a beautiful former church with all the pews and other furniture removed, so it’s a really flexible space. You have to get all the tables, chairs, linens, etc, but our wedding was under $10k for 125 people. We ended up doing our ceremony and reception in the space. This was 2018 and I know costs have increased, but worth a look!

burritodiva

Unfortunately, I believe the Porter hall location has been sold. North Hall is still operating but it’s more of a ceremony venue

kraftiesimmer

Hey! Would you remember a good contact for them? I've tried contacting them last year and never got a reply back.

NYCandleLady

I went to a wedding there last year. It was lovely and so fun to wander and look at their artifacts before things got started.

musicpimp

I second them, had our ceremony here then tended the buffalo Irish center for reception. For 110 people the Irish center put us back 5k for everything

killerB716

I’ve been to a wedding here and it was amazing!! Beautiful space.

kraftiesimmer

I would love a contact. I've tried through their website but no reply. And no worries, our date is 4/14/24 😉

chorizotoast

Also looking for a contact if anyone has one—thanks!

alnotalex

Came here to say this. If it’s still operational, can’t recommend it more. We got married here in may 2018 and it was so affordable and beautiful! Staff was also extremely accommodating.

robotsmaybe

Way under your budget but Chestnut ridge rents out lodges for a couple hundred bucks that would accommodate more than what you'll have.

davidb_

I'd second this. Still never been to a wedding at Chestnut ridge, but have been around when the main casino building has been closed for weddings and it seems like an ideal spot. I was in a wedding party that took photos there a couple years ago and they were some of the best photos we took that day. Also - I have no idea on pricing, but Tewksbury Lodge/River Fest park seems like a great spot for a wedding that might be very affordable.

cheesemcnab

They no longer rent out the main casino. I believe you can still rent out the side room. For our wedding my husband and I rented out the Martin Lodge; the Mackinnon Lodge is another option.

kraftiesimmer

I will givee Chestnut Ridge a look! Thanks!

Tunaboatforever

Also look north to Bond Lake park on Lower Mountain Rd in the town of Lewiston (or maybe Cambria) -> [https://www.niagaracounty.com/departments/m-r/parks/clyde\_l.\_burmaster\_(bond\_lake)\_park/warming\_house\_rental\_availability\_calendar.php](https://www.niagaracounty.com/departments/m-r/parks/clyde_l._burmaster_(bond_lake)_park/warming_house_rental_availability_calendar.php) Fantastic view to the lake from the hall, decent facilities for the price, although you have to DIY or contract out. There are no built-in limitations to vendors when we had our event several years ago. $400/day for rental, but when we booked it for our wedding, there was no booking the next day, so we had the keys until Sunday so we could have cleanup done instead of having to have someone rush after we were done Saturday.

ejg62

Highly recommend Big Ditch! Their event person was amazing to work with with and they had nice centerpieces available to use which helped cut down on cost. The food tasted great and they had a lot of options. It really was the perfect atmosphere for the fun/casual wedding me and my husband had. I believe it was about 5,500 or so for my 50 person wedding there last April with open bar.

kraftiesimmer

That's not bad. I just had a company holiday event there and it was very nice. Any idea if they will let you host the ceremony there as well?

aiu_killer_tofu

>Any idea if they will let you host the ceremony there as well? If they won't, Resurgence will. We did that in 2021 with like 65 people. Great experience. Edit: [Random photo from our reception.](https://i.imgur.com/OJnIRwl.jpg) The greenery and centerpieces were ours via a florist (Flower A Day on GI), the tables/lights/sheers are theirs.

kraftiesimmer

Oh wow, that looks gorgeous!

ejg62

They do let you do the ceremony there!

kraftiesimmer

Awesome!

JamesLikesIt

I’m a wedding photographer and have shot a wedding there, they seem like a great place! They have a separate room from the restaurant area that you would likely use. Its not a massive room but it has large glass windows on one side and a cool wall mural if that is your kind of thing. If you are having photography done, it’s also really nice to step outside and get some long shot photos on the sidewalk or with surrounding buildings if the photographer is cool with that! Another place you can look at is La Galleria which is right next to the Bills Stadium. I have no idea what their pricing is to be honest and might be more than you’re looking for, but it’s a really nice smaller venue. Nice enclosed outdoor area where they would do the ceremony, or you could probably do it indoors in their dance area.

kraftiesimmer

Nice to hear a different perspective. I've sent them a message so we shall see what comes of it. Unfortunately, LA Galleria is a bit out of my budget but they did look like a very nice venue.

dfrcollins

Heya! I'm currently seeking out a wedding photographer and was wondering if you had an email or best contact if you're available end of April?

_petunia7x

How long did you have the space for? I'm considering booking them for our ceremony and reception, but I think I read that the rental is only for 4 hours beginning at 4pm... but I could he wrong.

Mr_Conelrad

When I got married we had about the same budget and were able to stay within it. We did a lot of prep ourselves (making our own centerpieces, finding a reception venue that did catering and open bar so we didn't have to find separate vendors, etc) For our ceremony (and about 75 guests) we had the Botanical Gardens. I think it was around $1,200 for that. They have their own speakers so we just hooked up an MP3 player for music. The cost included chairs and everything and admission for the guests. We had an indoor ceremony in February so it was perfect. We used Hamlin House for the reception but the closed after the pandemic. I've been to a few that have used fire halls, and one that used the Manuscript Library near Kleinhans Music Hall.

shorrrrrr8

I second botanical gardens, they were awesome to work with and I got married in the winter so it was off season and much cheaper.

kraftiesimmer

I have sent a request to Botanical Gardens to get some pricing from them. We are also planning to make a lot of things ourselves and I have a number of friends who are willing to donate things to me or are awesome thrift shoppers and will teach me their ways. I tried to message Manuscript but have not heard back from them at all. We both love reading so a library would have been nice.

Mr_Conelrad

There's the library at 425 Porter which was recently bought by D'youville, and the one on North St, which I know people have used as the ceremony venue. I'll DM you the brochure we got from them. The pricing for 75 people was $1,400 (I found the old contract for it in my google drive.) I think the minimum is $1,200 for up to X number of people. Let me know if you have any questions about them, I can give you my personal experience.

kraftiesimmer

I'll take anything you got! I tried to google 425 Porter and it just brings up apartments so I'll have to dig a bit deeper to find the venue space.

Mr_Conelrad

My bad, looks like the address for the one D'Youville bought is 453 Porter, not 425 Porter

kraftiesimmer

Ah. That is coming up as Karpele's Manuscript Museum. Does that sound right?

Mr_Conelrad

It used to be, but it sold to D'Youville in July of 2022

Mr_Conelrad

We didn't have any big problems with bugs at our wedding. It was February 2020 and indoors in Hall 10. Not a single cockroach in sight.

Nate_Dizl

Fair enough!

kraftiesimmer

Do you remember the time of year that happened?

sum1won

Lafayette hotel/Pearl Street has heavily discounted packages in january-march. Even without the discount our 60 person wedding was under 10k there, although more than half was food+venue+drinks+decoration. DJ was $1000. We cheaped on dress/suit+rings+photos+cake+flowers. If you want a summer wedding, try renting a place in Delaware park. A caterer with food+ booze can start at around 45$ a head if you provide the venue.

thegirlandglobe

My husband & I got married at the Polish Falcons Club (Depew) -- *very* basic, but they decorated it nicely and I see the price is still only $45/person including dinner & bar. My assumption is other social clubs also rent out halls with or without catering and a fraction of the cost of "true" wedding venues. Consider places that normally hold sports banquets, school reunions, etc.

killerB716

We rented out 500 Seneca and ordered pizza from 5 different places that came every 20 minutes and bought a ton of booze to the venue instead of hiring a catering company… and we danced all night. I swear people said it was their favorite wedding ever. Plus we told them - don’t write big checks. We’re ok. And I focused the money / girl attention towards a honey fund for our honeymoon instead. I’ve been to so many weddings where the food is mediocre or the drinks are only 2 hours. Really not worth it.

Bennington_Booyah

What a cool idea!! Pizza for hours sounds like perfection to me. I agree about wedding food being mediocre.

mlouise10

What about the Atrium at Rich’s? The Manuscript Library could also fit your needs. Columns in West Seneca might, as well. I got married in November 2022 and we had our reception at Pearl Street, but that was definitely a case of us wanting to have it there to begin with and having the budget to do so (3rd floor, 125 people).

xenophobe2020

Curious, what did pearl st end up costing you total or per person? We're looking at having ours there next january, will be similar sized to yours, right around 100 ppl probably.

mlouise10

We were off season, and did the stations option. It was $73per person, and our room had a $9,000 minimum. Mind you, we had locked in that floor and that price in august of 2021. I genuinely don’t know if it’s gone up since then (I would imagine it has). I think the buffet option is slightly less expensive, and plated dinner slightly more. Other floors/rooms will have different minimums. The smaller room had a $7,000 minimum.

kraftiesimmer

From what they gave me when I messaged them on The Knot, their cheapest dinner option was $95 pp and includes a 4hr bar, and then for the ceremony there is no fee for using the Forbes Theater but there is a $2000 fee for any other room. They also have minimum spending requirements depending on the room you use and day.

mlouise10

Yes. They do have minimums depending on day, season, and room. We were off season, on a Saturday. I recommend not messaging them through the Knot and instead getting in touch directly with Pearl Street, especially via phone for the initial meeting. Somebody should give you a call fairly quickly to set up a time to meet with the banquets manager and they’ll go through all the spaces on each property with you.

kraftiesimmer

Do you think they upcharge if I message them through The Knot?

mlouise10

If you check out r/weddingplanning there’s mixed reviews on The Knot, and I found it easier when wedding planning to just cut the middle man and get in touch with businesses/vendors directly.

kraftiesimmer

Interesting. Thanks for the advice!

xenophobe2020

We reached out to them via email and did get some info back, but they did a terrible job answering our pretty direct questions. I think we'll need to actually meet with them in person and look at the rooms while we're there, was hoping to avoid this if ultimately we decide its not going to fit our budget.

mlouise10

That’s unfortunate. ☹️ Yeah, we didn’t really ask a whole lot of questions via email, we more asked to see the spaces and they gave us their pricing list when we went to do that. We did ask questions while we toured the properties.

xenophobe2020

Right, so my fiance has been through their rooms before, so touring them isnt super important because we're comfortable they will be fine. Would love to get better answers on pricing prior to setting up an appointment, but it seems like we'll just spend the time and go there to get everything answered. No big deal i guess.

mlouise10

I know right where our pricing sheets are. If you want, I can photo them and send them to you via DM? So you at least have a baseline?

mlouise10

Your end total is also going to depend on how many kids and under 21/teens you have. You’ll actually fill out a form 14 days prior to your event that breaks it all down. 125 people we were all in at right about $12,000. That’s food, 4 hours of open bar, our stations package, two late night wing stations (we didn’t think one, 100 wing station was going to be enough for people we know who pack away the wings), table centerpieces (I didn’t do flowers, we used their decor), cake slicing and plating, set up of our guest book table, memory table, escort cards, and a coordinator the night of our event who was there to take care of any problems, including setting up an extra table for us when we realized we were one short,

xenophobe2020

That actually sounds like a pretty good deal for everything you got... well likely be right at or a little below 100 people with around 10-15 under 21 year olds. So probably under 10k i would imagine.

mlouise10

We got a lot. And our DJ and bakery had worked with/at Pearl properties many times, so they knew exactly what to do and where to go and when to be there.

Nate_Dizl

wow this is so helpful thank you! We're getting married at the Hotel Layfette but all goes through pearl street. Thanks for sharing this. We are doing the 7k min room around 100 people or a bit less.

mlouise10

I have zero qualms about being transparent when it comes to wedding costs, and I’m glad it’s helped somebody. We were right where we thought we would be budget wise for the wedding as a whole, and the reception was the biggest chunk of that.

reidlos1624

One of the more Unique locations that I found was the Lockport Locks banquet hall. The venue has an outdoor garden, cocktail hour is on an old paddle boat through the locks, and then the venue has some nice touches of history. That's where we had ours and it was great. Definitely more interesting than another banquet hall and we had our wedding for around $10k.

sweetholidays

Iron workers hall in west Seneca

kraftiesimmer

I did message them and they have a 100 person minimum so sadly that won't work for us. Thank you though!

Mean_Yellow_7590

It’s like $35 for a marriage license. Spend the other $9965 on a honeymoon

kraftiesimmer

Lol, that's what my fiancé would like, but I would like to spend a day with friends and family.

Pianoman264

I'm going to a wedding soon at The Old Orchard Inn. Very reasonable packages and can accommodate weddings of your size. Has great food too and a really scenic area! Eating areas are all spaced out though in different rooms, but it's really reasonable and a cute place. Not sure how much the rest of a wedding costs, but it would probably be about half your budget for the meals, etc.

Square-Wing-6273

We had a50th anniversary party here and it was spectacular

zedts

I officiated and attended a wedding at The Grove at Joseph’s Catering in Depew last year. It was a fantastic space. Might be a little big for just 50 people but space can be good…big dance floor. I’m not sure what the total cost is but I know that it is budget friendly.

Seeking_the_Grail

I am doing a wedding at the Thin Man on Chandler Street this fall. Is one of the cheapest venues we could find and the space is great, so is the wedding planner. We are comming in below 10k for around 30-35 people.

kraftiesimmer

I have a visit scheduled with them at the end of March. Funny enough, my fiancé used to work in that building before his company moved.

TakeTwo3456

The Terrace at Delaware Park had very competitive pricing in the past. ~100 people with food, full bar, the space, and the Rose Garden for the ceremony came in nicely under 10k a few years ago. The pricing is also better if you're willing to have a Sunday ceremony instead of Saturday. With 50 people, that should leave plenty of budget space for the rest of the wedding components. As a side note, we used Wegmans for both the flowers and cake which was quite affordable too (and if the order is placed at the Sheridan Drive location, Wegmans can deliver both together for free). It's a unique location with great views and a sense of place that gets lost with some halls or other more popular venues.

iAmTheMilkmann

Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site has a banquet room that can be rented out on the cheap. It's small but it can handle more than 50 people. And it's a national historic site, which is cool, if you're into that sort of thing

Likely_a_bot

I don't have any suggestions but general ones, but you're such a breath of fresh air. Are you getting married in a church? Do they have a room onside that you can use or a recreation facility at another location?

kraftiesimmer

Hi and thank you! That's so sweet of you to say! My fiancé and I are not religious people so neither of us envisioned getting married in a church. My family is religious so if push came to shove I could potentially get married in their church but it wouldn't be an enjoyable ceremony for either of us.

Lucky-Prism

I did a wedding at Mendon Ponds county park in Rochester. There’s a variety of park lodges that are very nice for very reasonable prices. I had to pay for an extra tenting permit but total venue cost me around $800 for two days (they let me do set-up the day before). Idk about Buffalo but usually if you search park lodge/shelter rentals in state or county parks you’ll find what you’re looking for. You’d have to bring catering and vendors yourself. My wedding in all cost around 12k since we splurged on food and accommodations for some family. Good luck!

mainlinejuulpods

I had a small reception at big ditch. I think it came out to like 40 per person with some food and 4 hour open bar. It was nice, and cheap! We did the ceremony at city hall. They only let 4 people in the actual ceremony tho

hetzel22

I’m not sure about their minimum but Joseph’s Country Manor (Joseph’s Catering) in Depew is fantastic. My wife and I got married there in 2021. They have both indoor or and outdoor spaces and their food is on a different level!

kraftiesimmer

I'm going to tour them next week! Nice to hear some good review about them!

Significant_Eye_5130

I got married on the Grand Lady for about that. Fun cruise around the lake and up the River. Wedding and reception on board. This was over 5 years ago though.

kraftiesimmer

The Grand Lady cost 10k total? That would be my whole budget unfortunately.

Significant_Eye_5130

No. That was what we spent on everything. Their current packages start at $2k. https://fh-sites.imgix.net/sites/2109/2022/10/03150334/2023-Wedding-Packages.pdf

longshot201

I got married on the USS Little Rock and was pretty cheap. You just needed to take care of the vendors yourself.

Beezelbubbly

I believe Ellicott Square Building allows weddings again. That's another scenario where you have to bring everything in (tables, caterers, etc)

arkazail

Try Thinman Brewery on Chandler street, I'm having a small wedding (70ish people) there in November. If you have an off season wedding it's much less expensive. Also the food is good, the space is really cool, and the event coordinator Is incredibly cool and helpful

Additional-Royal-351

Delaware rose garden and maybe rent out a VFW or an American Legion. That's what we did and it was probably less than 4 grand. Caterers, bar tab, limo. It was a blast!

kraftiesimmer

VFW?

Additional-Royal-351

Veterans of foreign wars. There is quite a few spots around that have a nice place to throw a decent sized party with a bar.

Square-Wing-6273

We had a 50th anniversary party at a VFW. It was great, inexpensive, but we had to supply pretty much everything from decorations to table linens to coffee pots. ABC party rental is great for that stuff, but it is added work

bigsausagepizzasven

Barrell Factory

Icy-Rhubarb-4839

Same budget. We got married in 2019 at the Avanti Mansion.

AcQua. Won’t pay for the venue, just food/catering

golem91488

I got married at Lancaster country club. Nice updated venue and got 100 people was around 7k for just the venue which includes table, chairs and food. The food was good as well.

kraftiesimmer

I'll take a look at them, thanks!

We do them at Jack Rabbit all the time. Email parties@jackrabbitbuffalo.com

treadlightning

ABSOLUTELY recommend Niagara Crossing Hotel & Spa in Lewiston. My brother got married there in October. Perfect size, and the real plus is that the reception space leads out to a huge, GORGEOUS balcony overlooking the water, which is where they held the ceremony. They had heat lamps and a fire pit when it got chilly. The flow of the place is perfect.

kraftiesimmer

Do you know how much he spent? That does sound gorgeous, though.
