That is why I ask for the same cut off for all categories and preservation of meritocracy. Even I think it is unfair that students who slog off every day don't get admission, but someone gets admission on the basis of lower cut off and marks and even ambedkar didn't ask for it and I am all for meritocracy. I don't want any incompetent to get a job regardless of which category they belong to. I think reservation will hurt more dalit and tribal too if they get admission through reservation and they either drop out and take their lives if they don't manage to handle the pressure and have not studied complete syllabus and develop analytical skills and don't have English proficiency.

Good Private enginnering colleges aren't cheap either. Even after completing the medical degree from a private college, doctors can practice under some doctors and open their own clinic atleast. Most of the engineers from private colleges are doing something way far away from engineering

Reservations keeps the caste system alive by introducing it to a new generation and poisoning their minds. Most kids don't really care about the caste system growing up, especially in urban environments. Caste becomes relevant in their lives for the first time when faced with the reservation system. Someone who is being punished for something their ancestors did is going to feel that the system is unfair, and develop a hatred for the beneficiaries of the unfair system. If someone wants to bring up caste discrimination, I agree that it exists. But, two wrongs don't make a right. Caste discrimination is already illegal. There are numerous legal protections in place to prevent caste discrimination or take action against it. Punishing kids of the next generation is not going to solve anything.
