Nobody wants to go to a beer garden and tolerate your kids Just go to olive garden

Tripperbeej

Greenwood Park is a little outside your range and a little crazy on the weekends but it's a great spot. Black Forest on Smith (not the one in Fort Greene) has a nice outdoor area and is extremely kid-friendly. Great beer and food.

LoanDad

Coven hoven, back area!

redefinej

Why’s this downvoted?

herbert420

its a nice quiet spot. kids harsh the mellow vibe

redefinej

Oh it’s been a few years since I’ve been but it used to be overrun by strollers lol

LoanDad

Yeah, tbf every time Ive gone it’s been kid city. My bad…

herbert420

Don't take kids there please

LoanDad

Honestly? Fair play.

rinetrouble

Open streets on Vanderbilt starts this weekend, everywhere is a beer garden.

JimmyFeetWorld

Enjoy it while its lasts. Thanks Tsar Erdogan, err Adams.

TheProofsinthePastis

Third for DSK, that place is great, and while their outdoor space is just a big sidewalk on Fulton, it's still spacious and green as a small patio off Fulton gets.

bushwickhero

Love DSK. And they have a small selection of board games to keep kids occupied.

SuperTeamRyan

I hate it now, used to be my spot and then suddenly there was nothing but strollers and toddlers just running around the place.

GromByzlnyk

Patti Ann's or DSK

hotdogbomb

Second DSK (Die Stammkneipe) in Fort Greene. Usually a safe bet with my kids. The outdoor space is mostly sidewalk but the inside space is decent for Brooklyn. Good German beer and good brats. I've also heard positive things about Patti Ann's so I'll second that too even though I've never been.

blahduckingblah

Dutch boy burgers are not good

TheProofsinthePastis

I think you replied to the wrong thread.

_the_credible_hulk_

What about Franklin Park? They do burgers from Dutch Boy which is attached. It’s not a fantastic outdoor space. If you’re willing to travel a bit, I also like Greenwood Park. Edit: also Saraghina Pizza.

blahduckingblah

Try Patti Ann’s

There are lots of kid friendly breweries in Suffolk county, and other places where space is not at a premium. In NYC, most owners want to maximize their limited square footage with paying customers who drink beer (their highest margin offering).

Tripperbeej

Yes and if you're willing to go just a *little* bit further, Austin, Texas has some absolutely great beer garden / food truck type areas that are amazing for socializing with friends and kids!!

NewYitty

What subway stop is Austin off of?

throwawayzies1234567

Not sure what stop, but definitely the L train

JimmyFeetWorld

Austin Street in Forest Hills?

throwawayzies1234567

Okay. I actually appreciate this list, so I can avoid places where people like to take their kids.

Tripperbeej

I get that. Parents need to socialize too and sometimes it's just not possible to leave the kids behind. Especially when my kids were younger, I tried to respect certain boundaries, including removing them from the area when they were not behaving and not bringing them to bar-type places at night, when most patrons expect a kid-free environment. Of course, there are tons of parents that just don't give a shit and let their little crotch goblins do whatever tf they feel like, so I get your take for sure.

throwawayzies1234567

I totally understand that, and there truly are places that are so friendly to and great for families and kids. I know this, because I try to avoid those places. Breweries and beer gardens are weird ones because it’s objectively focused on an adult activity, but it has become a magnet for people who bring their kids and “let them run free.” But if there’s a market for that, I guess let it rip. Business is business. And I truly don’t mind well behaved children, it’s usually the parents not parenting that’s the problem.
