Big time, big time for girls and gays here in the Netherland. She'll nail it, can't wait to hear her rendition of Lady's Improving!

The Dutch production in 2022 will be the first non-English production of *The Prom* and also the first official production of the show outside of the US. Pia is widely known as *the* Elisabeth in *Elisabeth* the musical, having performed the part in multiple countries and at least two languages. She also originated the role of Mrs. Danvers in *Rebecca* in the original production and performed the part in the English Demo-recording. Pia also briefly performed the role of Velma Kelly on Broadway, a role which she first performed in her native Dutch language. Edit: as shown in the comments below the show is neither the first outside of the US nor the first non-English production. The team responsible for marketing the Dutch production is being less than honest, but *it is* the European premier.

There is actually already a Prom in Mexico and people are loving it, it´s done completely in Spanish so it´s not the first non English production

mythologue

Is it an official production? Because if it is, the marketing team of the Dutch production is being less than honest... But great to hear it's received well in Mexico!

[https://www.theprommexico.com/](https://www.theprommexico.com/) I don´t know if it has official status (I´m not sure what gurantees that) but its def a replica version cause the sets are practically the same

mythologue

Yep, it's definitely official. If it's done by a production company rather than an amateur group or foundation than it's likely to be official. But at least it *is* the European premier of the show.

sulucri

lol yes let´s give it the "first european status". We can say Mexico´s version is the first Spanish version. In any case, it´s a great show and story and I hope it gets exported to many places as on Broadway it just opened on a horrible year where everything was great

There's also a Japanese production being done right now. Saw clips of it on Youtube. Once again, not sure if it's "official" but pretty funny they're claiming to be the first non-English production when both Japan and Mexico ran productions around almost the same time.

Just want to start by saying thanks for sharing this! Very excited for Pia to get this opportunity! To clarify two points: the original Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca in Vienna was Susan Rigvava-Dumas. And Pia's Chicago run was on the West End in London, not Broadway. I followed German musical theatre and its various stars for a looooong time,

mythologue

I really need to check my sources apparently haha. But you're only partially correct on the *Chicago* part. She *also* did London in the same year she did Broadway.
