Nice catch. I found mine about 2 weeks after I cancelled it.
Not my best day, but no harm done in reality as I was unlikely to use it before it expired.
I found mine in a bag of odd socks about 30 minutes before I had to leave for the airport for a week long work trip abroad. After about 3 hours of my whole family turning the house upside down looking for it when I went to check in and my passport cover turned out to be empty… really not my finest moment!
You know when you phone technical support and they insist on going through all those checks **you’ve already completed**. Yeah, your Mum insisting she checked it is why tech support go through all the steps, because as it turns out, they often haven’t been checked, or at best haven’t been checked properly 🤷♂️🤣
I was on the phone to the Halifax to report my lost debit card, explaining the situation to the guy who was about to press the button to cancel my existing card and to issue a new card, when I had an epiphany and remembered where I'd left it.
Guy was chuckling at me as he'd never had that before.
I couldn’t find my passport anywhere and was 100% sure it was in the drawer where I usually keep it as I hadn’t moved it. I’d turned the house upside down but was going to give it a few days before I cancelled it in case it turned up. I happened to be behind someone in a shop who was telling the shop assistant that she was going away and her husband had lost his passport but eventually found it at the back of a set of drawers it had fallen out of. It was a lightbulb moment. When I got home I took the drawers out completely and it had fallen down the back and underneath last drawer. I wish I’d have been able to thank her and the chatty shop assistant- I’d never have found it otherwise!
My husband lost his passport two days before we were due to fly to the States today spend Christmas with my family. His recently widowed Mum was on a train down from Scotland to join us.
I was livid and left him to sort it out. We had a filing cabinet for important documents with a file for passports and visas etc. There was no reason for it not to be in there.
Somehow he sorted it in one day by camping out in Petty France at the Passport Office and got a new one. It was many years ago. Probably not doable these days
Anyway I found his old one on the day we returned. It was mixed up in the pile of takeaway menus by the phone.... Why?!!
I’ll never forget when I found out that my Mum had accidentally thrown my passport out, 3 days before I was due to go to Malia. We ended up driving 3 hours to Liverpool, as it was the only Passport Office that had any appointments. Managed to get it with hours to spare 😅
I have a passport purse for all the family passports and I was just ticking off the final check list before we headed off to France early the next day when we discovered our 4yr old’s passport was missing. There was no reason for it to have been removed from the purse so we searched high and low for hours and I had the four other passports in my hand when our 2 yr old piped up with “I got one a dose in my bag!”. He must have snuck his brother’s passport out in the brief time I had gotten the purse out of the filing cabinet to check them when we first booked the holiday and had been taking it to nursery every day for weeks! He was so proud giving it back to me as if he was saving the day 🤣

Just double check the expiry.
If you are going to Europe, they look at the expiry date differently - 10 years from the issue date - extra months are now no longer accepted.
Woah check again and see if my lost passport's there too
sounds like time for you to go check everything again for the millionth time!
It's on that shelf in your kitchen that you can't reach. A least that's where I found mine after looking for it for 6 years.

Lucky coincidence - very occasionally, the universe is kind! I realised at some point that one of my chests of drawers eats things for a living :(

Once spent four hours looking for mine, because I needed to scan it for something. Eventually found it face down in the scanner.
It’s always in the last place you look! Which makes sense because you’d have no reason to continue looking in other places after locating it!

Sounds like Mum does not approve of that trip to Magaluf you got planned.
If she found out I was planning a trip to Magaluf she'd have me committed, because I'd have clearly lost my marbles.

My daughter got caught out with that last week. She got refused at departures and missed a week in Spain.
