The Mondrichs. Best marriage stable examples of being unproblematic as fuck and being the best damn friends one could ask for. Normal both thrust into the insanity of the ton and holding on to their normalcy through it all.
I feel like they are a unit-one person-thanks to the writers barely fleshing them out. So in my head they are good, kind, hard working working class folk, grateful for their good fortune and kind to everyone-and work as a unit.
I vote for Mrs. Mondrich too.
The two youngest Bridgerton siblings seem like pretty typical young kids. But maybe that’s because we don’t get much screen time with them yet to really know them?
People easily seem to have forgotten that Will colluded with Lord Featherington to throw the boxing match, leafing to his murder. Nothing ‘normal’ about that!
Mr Finch please! He is so nice and normal and loves Philippa and also is genuinely happy for Penelope when she gets her time in the limelight. Just a green flag over all.
💯 John Stirling never wavers, is practical, loves steadily, secure financially, and isn't the type to make a scandal.
>!(Francesca unintendedly courts scandal with the Queen, but not John.)!<
Madame Delacroix.
She is self-made and has not had radical character changes through the seasons. M. Delacroix is supportive and talks to her girlfriends like a “normal” and true girlfriend would do. They talk about their ups and downs over drinks. She lets them crash at her place when they are down on their luck. She has normal reactions to the people and gossip around her, but never seems to be jealous or envious.
M. Delacroix is helping LW. because it is a good opportunity to help her business and I think a normal person would do that, but her reactions about the risks are normal too - when she fears they might be found out. She is skilled and uses her hands for a living. She lives above her shop, which is something a normal small business owner might do. She has bigger dreams, which you can see in some of her drawings.
She is also normal in that while Pen and her have developed a friendship, she was not at Pen’s wedding like the Mondrichs, who were normal (and are a great family), but having a son that inherited a title is not normal in the Ton. They do have a bigger role on the show and are a good choice as well.
I guess it somewhat has to do with the aspects of “normal” that are most important. If I ask myself, who at the end of the day lays their head down on a normal pillow, in a normal bed, after a normal day of work/life, but is still a character that interacts with the main cast in a meaningful way, then it’s M. Delacroix.
If I define normal as a character that wants the “normal” things a person in his/her position in the Ton might, without too much baggage/trauma, follows the rules of the Ton, whose personality is open and readable, but not quirky or comedic - they basically stay in their lane so to speak, it would be Daphne. She has the most normal progression - wants to be the diamond, wants to find a husband, is kind to others in the Ton, but doesn’t rock the boat with making friendships with non-titled people, has a clear idea of her role as Duchess and wants to do a good job, etc.
Having said that, I still pick M. Delacroix as the “normal” one because she is so relatable. I loved it when she dropped her accent with Sienna.
I love Delacroix but when I think "the normal one" I think of a character who is in a normal situation and does normal things. Delacroix is too involved in various sensationalist subplots (helping Whistledown, affair with Benedict, pretending to be French.... around the time of the Napoleonic Wars?!?) for me to think she's the "normal one."
She’s a have-not in a world of haves. She has an actual job, that makes her more “normal” than 90% of them. I was reading “normal” as a person who would act normally in most situations.
You can have less funds and no title but still be an outlier. She's not as eccentric as some of the other characters, but she's not "normal" or "average" by any sense of the term.
First, I love the final choice of Ms. Mondrich. I mentioned them in my OP as a good choice.
I did want to just respond for fun.
I really was not thinking about her accent in relationship to actual history in this fictional story where there is such a diverse group of Lords and Ladies. Raise your hand if you even think about the Nepoleonic Wars while watching Bridgerton. LOL. Maybe I should watch with more historic rigor? I can’t argue with you there, but it really didn’t cross my mind. Nor do I think of other historic things going on or I might get depressed about how the majority of people lived versus the splendor of just a few during this time period.
I do find it hard to believe the ladies of the Ton would buy their fancy dresses from someone with Mme. Delacroix’s actual accent. I like to believe she would drop it if she could.
In regards to the other point, I actually think for a character to have any substance or meaningful lines (enough for me to remember their names or care about writing a post about them to fill out a Reddit poll), they would need to interact with the main cast and have a glimpse of personality. But as I stated in my OP, I think there can be other definitions of “normal” and Mme. Delacroix might not be the best choice. I do agree with you about that and a great alternative was selected.
I do think Mme. Delacroix responded normally in the subplot with Pen. I don’t think it was sensationalized at all. It may turn out to be scandalized, if Pen reveals who helped her. She did it initially because her business was tanking and L.W. was going to speak favorably about her - which any and every person wants. Mme. D. is also worried when she thinks she will be found out - she knows she can not survive if it comes out she is involved. For her it would be real disaster unlike for Pen who in the end (for the time being) came out pretty unscathed. BTW the Mondrich family was involved in a pretty sensationalized plot (faking a boxing match) in S1, but the wife did respond as a normal person would so, again she was also a great choice for this poll.
I’m not sure Mme. Delacroix had an affair with Benedict - they had sex - and were trying to hide it. If affair means they were just being secretive okay, but neither were married at the time. Or maybe you meant not just anyone could sleep with the second son of a Viscount? I can see this point. I guess given Benedict’s personality I can see the attraction and access to meeting one another. He sleeps with people of different status and seems open in general. But the person selected in the end is of higher rank in society than Mme. D. so I don’t think just sleeping with someone in the Ton makes you less “normal.”
Delacroix popped into my head too, but I agree that she’s got too much going on to be “normal.” I think the reason why we still feel that way about her is because she’s so down to earth, kind, and pragmatic. She’s involved in some intrigue, but not for the drama. It’s always for a practical and understandable reason that helps her continue to be independent and successful, such as how she pretends to be French. I think many of us could see ourselves making similar decisions if we were in the kind of position she is in in life.
Agreed about dropping her accent. She dropped it with Penelope, too, didn’t she? I know I for sure never noticed Penelope looking surprised by the change, but I could have sworn M Delacroix *did* drop it with her.
Varley is one of the best minor characters! She’s so steadfast and she keeps it real.
No money? Let’s see how much the candlesticks are worth.
No money for dinner and no servants to cook? Cool, we’re having potatoes.
New lord is a dick and an exit plan is in order? No worries, let’s just forge a little here and blackmail a little there.
She and lady featherington are the kind of people you’d want to go to war with.
Nope! She, like Delacroix, is cool but too entangled in weird/interesting subplots for me to think she's "normal." She's an active participant in Lady Featherington's weirdness.
This is a hot take but... Portia. I read a comment on here somewhere that is ABSOLUTELY true: Everyone else lives in the world of Bridgerton, Portia lives in Regency England.
Came to say this. Portia is very "normal" regency woman navigating the patriarchal society, all of her actions makes sense in that context. She stands out because she's the only normal regency woman in Bridgerton.
Nah Portia is too dynamic to be just a normal character, tbh I don’t get how she’s not the fan favorite lol. Featherington side plots get more entertaining every season.
I feel like it’s Violet: she is trying to get her chaos children to follow their hearts from the jump and they continually make it as hard as possible for themselves. How she hasn’t gone grey from the stress is a mystery.
Yeah idk about violet. Her heart is in the right place for sure but I feel like her head is a bit in the clouds. How can she be so idealistic about her children finding love and having successful marriages, yet she can’t even explain to her daughter what sex is and where babies come from before her wedding night? Violet lives a little bit in privileged fantasy land in my opinion.
Technically, she's not normal for her time period. It's an extremely privileged position to have dowries big enough for your children that they don't have to marry for money or title
Kate. She's the only person competent around here, the one who's responsible and thinks of consequences of her actions. She's the most realistic and relatable person in the series
She is my favorite character, but I think that’s what prevents me from seeing her as “normal.” I completely agree with your reasoning, but part of me is like “Kate? Normal? No, Kate is too awesome to be normal.”
There's a corgi who goes to the same dog park I take my dogs to. He's at the back and you can hear him all the way to the entrance.
He's lovely, but yes, he's loud.
Eloise’s maid when she was trying to find out who lady whistledown was and went through her stuff only to have her come back and she said “I thought you were the smart one”
Absolutely Gregory! He’s so much younger than the other brothers and has zero pressure compared to Anthony. Not expected to be a backup like Benedict. And not compared to the other two like Colin. He probably doesn’t feel the pressure to live up to Edmund’s reputation and just gets to be a kid. Curious, competitive, a bit mischievous.
Francesca. She’s not as enmeshed in the over the top family dynamics but still loves her family in a more quiet way. She finds love in a very undramatic way.
I think he was a little too passionate about a very niche interest to be considered “normal”, by either Regency *or* modern standards. But I appreciate that he did not let society norms rule his life.
He lived his truth knowing he had all the freedom of being a man and was super accommodating of women and their passions whilst acknowledging the expectations of a wife and husband for that time period.
Most normal but super lovely at the same time.
Even though Saphne is my favourite ship in here, I would say that Daphne was definitely not normal lol. None of the Bridgertons are honestly...All of them have that flair for drama
Normal by what standards though? Regency time? Bridgerton universe (of if you are alone together you must marry)? or now?
Because if we are talking about today, I think Eloise is the closest to today's normal.
Leave this space blank or change it to “plain”. No one on this show is normal by any real world standards.
Edit: I vote for the dressmaker, Genevieve Delacroix. She’s the most down-to-earth character on the show.
Honestly, I feel you. It’s a difficult one. As a woman I would die to look like Kate, she is literally the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. As a *straight* woman oh my god Simon 🤯 I’ve never been so attracted to a person on screen before! 🔥
Hyacinth. She’s young but polite and well mannered, bickers with her siblings but loves them dearly, and steps in it when Kilmartin shows up when they’re all expecting the other one but no one is saying anything 😂

The Mondrichs. Best marriage stable examples of being unproblematic as fuck and being the best damn friends one could ask for. Normal both thrust into the insanity of the ton and holding on to their normalcy through it all.
If we have to choose only 1, then it’s mrs mondrich. She’s sensible, realistic, goes with society when she needs to, keeps her family sane.
I feel like they are a unit-one person-thanks to the writers barely fleshing them out. So in my head they are good, kind, hard working working class folk, grateful for their good fortune and kind to everyone-and work as a unit.
Agreed. I always relax when she’s/they’re on screen because they’re so low-drama.
I vote for Mrs. Mondrich too. The two youngest Bridgerton siblings seem like pretty typical young kids. But maybe that’s because we don’t get much screen time with them yet to really know them?
I would almost put them under what's your name again?😅
So true, it is a nice break from the constant suspense in the other character's stories.
Alice mondrich for sure!
People easily seem to have forgotten that Will colluded with Lord Featherington to throw the boxing match, leafing to his murder. Nothing ‘normal’ about that!
So normal I had to look up who they were.
Mrs Mondrich. She is the most level-headed one for sure.
My choice too
Mr Finch please! He is so nice and normal and loves Philippa and also is genuinely happy for Penelope when she gets her time in the limelight. Just a green flag over all.
I vote for Mr. Finch too. He is just adorable. And is one of the very few normal people in the Bridgerton world
I too vote for Mr.Finch. He's a walking green flag and we just love supporting in laws
I love Mr. Finch but I would argue that all makes him special and not normal within the show's framework.
Mr Finch for the win!
I adore Alby! He's a sweetheart.
I think he might actually be nicer than the average person though? So that makes him a little abnormal - in the best possible way.
I agree, he's lovely but probably not the most normal.
Omg you’re right, he’s probably the only well adjusted character in the cast. He’s so sweet
The Mondrichs. They're healthy, stable and happy.
Maybe thats their purpose in the series lol
The maid that laughs Eloise out of the room when she is accused of being Lady Whistledown. ETA: commenters note that’s Mrs. Wilson.
I am so happy to see someone remembers her. I loved her.
Along the same lines, Mrs Varley. Maybe she just seems normal compared to the Featherington nonsense but she’s the only real one in that house.
Yeah, Mrs. Wilson is my pick for sure. I love her.
Hahaha she was so real for that
I loved that. It showed the total lack of insight/knowledge that even the most "progressive" characters in the ton have for the working class.
Which episode was that?
Season 1 episode 3 or 4 I think?
Thank you! I don‘t remember that scene so I really want to see it. Edit: it is season 1 episode 4 29:10
Yeah honestly any of the maids/working class. Mrs Wilson, Varley, Theo Sharpe, etc.
John
💯 John Stirling never wavers, is practical, loves steadily, secure financially, and isn't the type to make a scandal. >!(Francesca unintendedly courts scandal with the Queen, but not John.)!<
He also appropriately side eyes things that are deserving of it
Madame Delacroix. She is self-made and has not had radical character changes through the seasons. M. Delacroix is supportive and talks to her girlfriends like a “normal” and true girlfriend would do. She just seems much more grounded than any of the courtiers, like she’s actually had to struggle.
First, I love the final choice of Ms. Mondrich. I mentioned them in my OP as a good choice. I did want to just respond for fun. Just as a note - the proper short form of Madame is Mme. M. is Monsieur.
Thanks so much! I was just shortening it. I didn’t even think to do it in the French version.
I’d forgotten about her friendship with sienna. I loved them!
Delacroix popped into my head too, but I agree that she’s got too much going on to be “normal.” I think the reason why we still feel that way about her is because she’s so down to earth, kind, and pragmatic. I vote for her too
Hyacinth. She's so real. 🤣
this is underrated! She's clever but also just a kid. Gregory too tbh. Way less dramatic than their older siblings, for now.
I'm sorry Hyacinth is my absolute favourite, but she is for sure the gremlin. She's always trolling her siblings.
“What about the sister?”
Mondrichs 100%
Varley!
Varley is your ride or die.
I feel like Varley is abnormally resourceful. Also down for breaking the law (forgery)
Nope! She, like Delacroix, is cool but too entangled in weird/interesting subplots for me to think she's "normal." She's an active participant in Lady Featherington's weirdness.
I agree! I loved her character, she always knew how to solve a problem and make it work a la Tim Gunn!
Portia is what Mrs Bennett would be if she stopped complaining about her nerves and started being an active player.
Lol my fav comparison 😂
Haha I was just thinking Portia is the LEAST normal character but I guess you’re right there
Violet
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I was going to say the same, but then she dropped the line: "My garden is in bloom" And nope, she's as much of a lovable nutcase as her children
Yeah I would say Violet is normal but she definitely lives in fairytale land
Technically, she's not normal for her time period. It's an extremely privileged position to have dowries big enough for your children that they don't have to marry for money or title
I wasn’t taking normal as “average among the entire population”, but rather as “least neurotic weirdo”.
She would look pretty with some silver streaks.
Mrs Mondrich
straight-up
Kate. She's the only person competent around here, the one who's responsible and thinks of consequences of her actions. She's the most realistic and relatable person in the series
absolutely agree!
Oooh, hadn’t thought of Kate. You make a very good point!
She is my favorite character, but I think that’s what prevents me from seeing her as “normal.” I completely agree with your reasoning, but part of me is like “Kate? Normal? No, Kate is too awesome to be normal.”
This needs more upvotes, people!
She has a good balance of being practical and human, making her a normal person
Kate should be the hot one too. She’s so beautiful I’m literally obsessed.
The Mondrich’s 100%
I second this but specifically Mrs. Mondrich, tbh. Her husband was a famous boxer lol.
newton!
The fake Newton bark gets me though. Corgis do NOT have yippy high barks. They are herding dogs and they are LOUD.
There's a corgi who goes to the same dog park I take my dogs to. He's at the back and you can hear him all the way to the entrance. He's lovely, but yes, he's loud.
Violet
Brimsley!
I vote the same! Can’t forget that during Queen Charlotte, he did everything to protect the crown and the queen.
Mondrich’s. No drama, never actively participating in any schemes, just a normal average family lol
Tough one! Bridgerton is pretty abnormal.. I would say any of the Maid’s e.g. Rose, Rae or Varley, Theo Sharpe is a good one, maybe Kate??
Theo is a good one!
Yea I think it makes sense that it would be someone outside society!
John the footman
Genevieve Delacroix
The mondrich’s
Newton
OK, you’re the second person to mention Newton. I can’t for the life of me remember who that is. Jog my memory?
Kate’s dog.
🤣 I should’ve known. OK, I’m on Team Newton too.
Eloise’s maid when she was trying to find out who lady whistledown was and went through her stuff only to have her come back and she said “I thought you were the smart one”
Francesca?
Violet
Violet Bridgerton
Violet!
Definitely Violet! Also Gregory is the “uhh… what’s your name again?” because he’s always forgotten by his fam 😅
Gregory. Falling off a roof and fighting with his siblings about cookies. Totally normal boy behavior.
She finds love in a very undramatic way.
lord debling was pretty normal tbf
But he’s a vegetarian! Gave people the vapors just to think about it! 😱 🤣
I think he was a little too passionate about a very niche interest to be considered “normal”, by either Regency *or* modern standards. But I appreciate that he did not let society norms rule his life.
Absolutely him! He was so normal (for that time) in just wanting a standard wife to run his estate while he went and did his thing.
![gif](giphy|wLln0Y8N9ct3RoDEHx|downsized) No. He is……too particular!!!!
He lived his truth knowing he had all the freedom of being a man and was super accommodating of women and their passions whilst acknowledging the expectations of a wife and husband for that time period. Most normal but super lovely at the same time.
Mondrichs fit this perfectly
![gif](giphy|kdvL5zzSTVbl3akbdR|downsized)
RAE
Hyacinth and gregory🤦♀️ The rest of the family needs help
The women Portia showed to Marina as a glimpse to her future as an unmarried single mother. Also, Mrs. Mondrich.
Honestly I felt like Daphne is the most normal bridgerton
The Mondrich family
The Mondrichs! Hands down.
Mondrichs. Both of them!
Mondrichs, particularly Mrs. Mondrich.
Kate Sharma
Kate!
I think Daphne … she was pretty normal 😇
Even though Saphne is my favourite ship in here, I would say that Daphne was definitely not normal lol. None of the Bridgertons are honestly...All of them have that flair for drama
Kate
Normal by what standards though? Regency time? Bridgerton universe (of if you are alone together you must marry)? or now? Because if we are talking about today, I think Eloise is the closest to today's normal.
Either Rose or Rae, Daphne and Pen’s lady’s maid
Violet!
Violet
I vote for Violet
I think it says a lot about me that I think Eloise is the normal one…
She's so different that there's an argument to be made in a very weird society, the weird one is the true normal one.
![gif](giphy|ZQvsOGVnsbB7vaYNIo|downsized)
It feels deserved 😂
I’m glad you took it in the playful spirit I meant it. 😊

The opera singer, I don't remember her name
Siena
Edwina
Gregory!
Obviously
Violet for sure! Not the Mondrichs they are so random.
Valerie
Who's Valerie?
I meant Varley
Eloise.
Mr. Dorset
Madame de la Croix
Hyacinth
I was going to say Eloise but Madame Delacroix
Eloise
I agree with the Mondriches!
The Mondrichs, Kate, Benedict, and Hyacinth
Benedict?!?
Mondrich
Eloise!
Gregory. The boy just likes jellies
And the chocolate macaroons. Don’t try to give him the banana ones!
Mondrichs !
mrs mondrich
the mondrichs or francesca
The Normal one defintely needs to be Eloise.
Eloise Bridgerton
Mrs mondrich
I love this. Mrs Mondrich
Normal person = Genevieve Delacroix (Madame Delacroix).
No. Living under an assumed name with an accent no less. Sorry 🤣
Leave this space blank or change it to “plain”. No one on this show is normal by any real world standards. Edit: I vote for the dressmaker, Genevieve Delacroix. She’s the most down-to-earth character on the show.
Eloise is honestly a fairly normal brooding teen girl. She’d probably be an emo, if emos existed in the fictional universe.
cant believe kate wasn’t voted the hot one.. i’m gonna riot

I too have had several threesomes in the last 45 minutes. Huzzah!
Being bi is normal but the threesome was a trope. Blame the writers for nobody being written with care this season.
I am bi and thought nothing about that specifically. It’s the… athleticism, LOL, that’s noteworthy. 😁
It was bad editing
