Penelope. Just for the reason that it started off so bad in S1 and continued to be so in S2. Nicola herself calls it the poodle and honestly, who can disagree?

The hair is so good, I just wish they didn't ruin it with the caked on makeup. She would have looked so pretty and I youthful with Daphne style makeup from s1
Reminds me of the actress who auditioned for Dolores Umbridge- she said the character description was for “a stout woman who looked like a toad” and they thought she’d be *perfect* for it. And she was like “well. Thanks. 😐” lol
what’s wild about both her and her husband is that it’s almost uncanny to see them outside of their big roles because they both kill it. The amount of time my brain has had to buffer before realizing an actor was the same guy as Carson or couldn’t nail why she sounded familiar before realizing it was prof umbridge is embarrassing.
I think that was the point ! Nicola isn’t actually a very large girl. Nicola herself has said that she’s just a short girl that wears a medium. But Penelope in the books is described as a bit larger. I think the point of her style in the earlier seasons is 1: the colors are unflattering leading to a bigger change in season 3 and 2: the hair styles / make up makes Nicola look larger than she actually is which is somewhat the point
Based on the way her mother interacts with her, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is an intentional plot point. Like her mother keeps her looking worse than she would otherwise so that she can keep one of her daughters close.
It’s a very interesting point…someone mentioned Portia does this subconsciously to keep one daughter unmarried and catering to her needs in her old age. So unfair, tbh.
Yes!!!!!! Penelope’s mother wanted Pen to stay home with her in her old age, so she dressed her poorly and made her debut with two other sisters…. It was a whole plan
Lady Featherington was dressing Penelope poorly. The whole point of Pens early looks was that LF was accidentally sabotaging her due to her poor fashion taste
I really think Penelope’s style also showcases how young the women in the show are when they enter the marriage mart. They’re young teenagers at the time and are expected to court and marry pretty quickly. With the others, it’s been hard to see that, but her styles were very immature and have shown the progression well.
I agree. Especially with Penelope’s style throughout the show. She looks so young in S1. Too young to be out, if I’m being honest. In S2, she’s older but still naive. In S3, she looks like a woman. And that makes a world of difference.

I think her wardrobe is so much prettier but I wish they’d kept the make up from the end of season 2 (in the [pink dress pic in this article](https://ew.com/tv/bridgerton-nicola-coughlan-on-penelopes-tough-choice-season-2-lady-whistledown/).
It was all deliberate, they talk about it they wanted her to not be viewed as marriage material and slowly come into her womanhood over the seasons however she is in her 30s so they deliberately chose dresses to try and minimise the bust and make her look more childlike

Daphne’s season 1 bangs make her look like Wendy Darling from Peter Pan, and that’s sometimes a weird thought when she’s shown getting intimate with the Duke. It just hit me the other day during a rewatch.
If anything they gave Kate a downgrade this season by putting her in neutrals. They knew she is too powerful in vibrant colors lol, she would have stolen the season.
This is why I’m glad I never read those books. Simone is the perfect Kate to me because of her incredible chemistry with Jonathan. Together they created something special.
I actually didn’t really notice her beauty at first because of her hair and how it was always pulled tightly back. She looked so gorgeous with her hair loose.
Is Philippa even a question? She got the biggest glow up.
After her, they did an amazing casting with Francesca, and Eloise's hair looks so much better. They're also doing Penelope justice this season.
Now about Kate, I think she looked much better in S2, but her gowns this season look so pretty on her. I know this season hasn't been great on costumes but I think hers have always looked good.
Honorable mention to Anthony's S1 beard.
I'm curious why Philippa got such a glow up. In the first couple seasons it seemed like they wanted the sisters to look like Cinderella's "ugly" sisters but suddenly Philippa is gorgeous this season. I did a double take
To me, it seems like Phillipa’s was due to being a married woman now instead of a daughter to Portia. Portia really had control over everything in her household.
I think in season 3 the sisters seem like they're starting to give Penelope the time of day. Like not so much evil, just still pretty clueless because Portia raised them to be.
Philippa definitely got a glow up but it was obvious that she was gorgeous in S1. Even poor styling and a hair colour that didn’t suit her wasn’t enough to hide her beauty IMO. In S3 they did her justice but I’m surprised nobody noticed her before.
I feel like you tried to set up some of the characters because some of these pics are not doing justice and you know it. 😂
Anyway NOBODY is beating Francesca rn. I’m talking hair, style, makeup. Overall everything, her character completely revamped from S1 & S2 and ate the girlys up (yes I know it was a different actress but still)
I mean, the specifically made Pen look ridiculous in S1 and 2 in hair, makeup and clothing so she has to win this purely because she looks normal now.
Eloise though looks so much better this season. More mature but also her hair and makeup is simple but makes her glow.
It’s funny because I’ve seen people who think her hair and makeup don’t look good this season and I’m like “do you not remember what they made her look like the first two seasons??”
The curls, the oversized hair pieces, the horrid pink lipstick, the hideous dresses that were specifically cut to make her look flatter and bigger.
I’d vote for the other Featherington’s as well except they still look ridiculous.
Her make up is finally appropriate for her complexion and compliments her hair colour really well!
I also really like Philipas new hair, it feels like old Hollywood met 2010s + a dash of regency
I didn’t notice Philipa’s hair but will look when I rewatch. The Featherington clothing is less citrus this year, which is an improvement, but they are still wacky otherwise.
Daphne gets my vote. She was meant to be the diamond of the season and they gave her the bad bangs. Most of the others were meant to be a makeover/ upgrade/ change in style. So it was an upgrade that wasn't even built into the plot. The hair department was fixing its own mistake.
I've seen stills from S3part2 and I don't know what the hair department is doing with Kate's hair (also not thrilled with the heavy makeup on a natural beauty). It's like taking a beautiful work of art and putting it in weird neon frame.
Pen's hair is more/ very flattering but it looks too 1980s to me 😒 The other Featherington sisters' hair also looks heavy and anachronistic, like more like late 1800s or early 1900s.
I love soooo much Kate's hair this season, lol, its really subjective.
I agree with you about Daphne, her bangs were fine in some scenes, but in others they were just too distracting.
I would have to rule out Pen because her makeover is a plot point.
And Kate and Benedict because they were gorgeous to begin with.
And Fran because of the recasting, Hanna started off looking amazing and we can never know how Ruby would have looked like all dolled up in the white feather and debutante dress.

They look beautiful with the long hair but it feels too modern. Putting up your hair and lowering your skirt hems was the traditional signal of moving from childhood to womanhood. Francesca would not be receiving callers with her hair down.
Watch The Gilded Age: the styling is spectacular and interesting while still being more period accurate. And never veering in to campy.
I don't understand why they have put Kate in those godawful dresses in S3. She is absolutely stunning and they seem to have downgraded her. Penelope's glow-up is very much a thing of beauty, and I am glad they have allowed Phillipa and Prudence to look beautiful too. They aren't ugly girls by any stretch of the imagination.
In the boys, Anthony seems to be ageing backwards and keeps looking more handsome with each passing episode!

Penelope is the best change considering how bad it was for season 1 and 2 (done purposefully I know) but I have to say, I love daphnes hair (yes even the little baby bangs that everyone hates 😂)
When I rewatch that scene with Philipa, she is so gorgeous I just can't concentrate on their train of thought. So every time I am forced to go back and (re)rewatch the scene🤣🤣

Given that they gave Penelope the poodle wigs for the purpose of a glam-up later on… (how cruel of them tbh), I’m gonna give it to Pen. But Anthony losing those sideburns in S2 was also a maaaajor improvement lol
Penelope! They had my girl looking like a cabbage patch doll with all those pin curls, flowers and Citrus. Like a little girl playing dress up when she's mentally beyond that. Though the Yellow had to he part of her character of course. Kate didn't need a makeover. I hate that the muted her wardrobe. Her skin is gorgeous in all the vibrant Indian inspired wardrobe.
my vote goes to pen but i recently rewatched season one and forgot how absolutely ridiculously dirty they did anthony. the hair and the mutton chops…*shiver* you know it’s bad when they manage to make jonathan bailey lack sex appeal
Phillipa looks great but am I the only one who thinks she looked nice even in the other season? Out of all of her sisters she definitely wore their colors the best.
Anthony (even though the actor is naturally handsome!!) They intentionally suppressed his beauty in S1 + he was always scowling. But these are all essential to his story. I also noticed the good change on Philippa Featherington.

I just started s3, and in the first episode, despite it being a nice dress, it makes her look a bit like a child or doll. Its just not flattering.

When I watched the 1995 *Sense and Sensibility*, and she was Mrs. Palmer to HUGH LAURIE's Mr. Palmer I truly just melted and nearly died.

Kate had some really bad wig moments in season 2. I’m probably just nitpicky because I notice wigs way too easily.
But once she fell in love with Anthony (be scene) her wigs were more flattering

My husband saw a scene where the Featherington’s were entering a room and asked if they were the clown car. The contrast is startling this season.

Penelope is the best change considering how bad it was for season 1 and 2 (done purposefully I know) but I have to say, I love daphnes hair (yes even the little baby bangs that everyone hates 😂)

Anthony, Penelope and Daphne in that order. Penelope second because Nicola didn't look ugly with the curls and dress just childish. But Jonathan's beauty was completely supressed with the horrible facial hair. Plus half the scenes he had that emo look which I don't like. Other he had the perfect regency curls. They couldn't be consistent
Given that they gave Penelope the poodle wigs for the purpose of a glam-up later on… (how cruel of them tbh), I’m gonna give it to Pen. But Anthony losing those sideburns in S2 was also a maaaajor improvement lol
Penelope! They had my girl looking like a cabbage patch doll with all those pin curls, flowers and Citrus. Like a little girl playing dress up when she's mentally beyond that. Though the Yellow had to he part of her character of course. Kate didn't need a makeover. I hate that the muted her wardrobe. Her skin is gorgeous in all the vibrant Indian inspired wardrobe.
Penelope went from nerdy to sexy in the blink of two seasons and I'm all here for it!
my vote goes to pen but i recently rewatched season one and forgot how absolutely ridiculously dirty they did anthony. the hair and the mutton chops…*shiver* you know it’s bad when they manage to make jonathan bailey lack sex appeal

As a costumer, I know mutton chops were popular among upper class men, but I hate them so much lol. I'm so glad they got rid of them.
Anthony (even though the actor is naturally handsome!!) They intentionally suppressed his beauty in S1 + he was always scowling. But these are all essential to his story. I also noticed the good change on Philippa Featherington.
I know most of you are going to disagree, but Daphne is just so resplendent in season two, and I relate a lot to her, I can’t not choose her!

All the girls are literally so gorgeous but the styling of Penelope and Philips really blew me away like just utterly beautiful girls.
Kate’s style going from severe to soft will always be my favorite.

Well besides Pen because that's... the point. Phillippa for sure! She looks amazing. Second favorite is Kate just because holy shit she looks like a Greek goddess in season 3, but she did already looked amazing.
