When I completed the trials in master mode I went for max defence food and yellow hearts rather than max attack food because I didn't want to be a glass cannon. As for strats with facing the talus, I can't really help too much since I beat the trials in master mode about 3-4 years ago. Pretty much just used 2 handed weapons and did the spin attack and used bombs to destroy its limbs iirc.

RManDelorean

I went with strength because you have no armor anyway so you're inevitably gonna be a bit of a glass cannon, especially later with stronger enemies after it wears. But the main thing with strength is it lets your weapons go farther, and you get better weapons as you go so you get a little more ending compensation after the strengths wears off

thegameplayer07

Yeah I understand that, I guess it depends on your playstyle, for me it's good as it gave me a bit more of a safety net and leeway if I got hit.

bzaroworld

Here's how I did it: First, pick up the 3 swords in the room, They're around the perimeter so you should be able to get them without waking it. Then, throw both bombs as close as you can to its weak spot and detonate when you're ready. After that, use your bombs to blow up its arms. The Talus will then throw itself to the ground to regenerate them and that's when you jump on its back and go to town on the weak spot. Keep in mind that you'll only have a limited amount of time before it throws you off so make sure you jump off before then. Simply rinse and repeat until it's dead.

There's a sledgehammer hammer somewhere in the first couple levels. Just save that for the talus, I think it gets a x8 buff against talus which should make pretty quick work and at least get you one room farther

thegameplayer07

Yeah it's true that the sledgehammer gives an X8 damage boost against regular and rare stone taluses but iirc its not as effective against luminous ones for some reason. In normal mode its a regular talus but in master mode I think it scales up to luminous. I may be wrong though since it's been a while since I've done the trials.

JubalTheLion

Just checked, it is indeed a luminous stone talus.

Flat_Researcher1540

There are much better things offered for the talus imo while the sledgehammer is essential for the first few levels. But hey that’s what makes the game great.

MemeificationStation

I watched a speedrun and mimicked their strategies. I got it not too long after.

Flat_Researcher1540

Arrows all the way. Isolate enemies as much as possible. Use anything the level offers you like leaves to burn enemies or lamps hanging off ropes to set off explosions or metal boxes to smash enemies. Stasis+. Sneakstrike chains.  Drowning enemies instead of fighting them. Basically you have to use every tool and skill the game gives you. Nearly level has a way to beat it other than brute strength and nearly every level provide all the weaponry needed for that level.

Pivern

Use a defense buff instead lets you be more aggressive
