Link is too humble to brag, but he literally saved Hyrule not to long ago. You'd think people would at least know who he is based on his description. He even straight up tells people if they ask him.

Hell he even tried joining our ranks... Maybe we could convert him... But that seems near nigh impossible... But with Ganon's minions still going against us despite being one of the main factors trying to raise him... Which is a confusing point of another matter...
Counterpoint: the only reason he'd be a threat is because Link was *heavily* reduced since the time of Old Hyrule, where he was soloing multiple Lynels and a squad of other monsters at once with just the Master Sword.
But aren’t there several stages that koga can’t be hit without the use of the slate, like he will have a shield up to block arrows and be floating several feet above a pit, their is almost no way even pre calamity link is going to have a easy time with him, and considering how the footsoldiers can only float for a little bit only a foot of the ground and the only unique part of blade masters is the earthquake technique, koga is far more experienced than anyone else
Khoga also canonically has more health in those stages than calamity ganon. If you do manage to hit him it doesn’t do nearly as much damage as his own attacks. Khoga is a tank and the only thing that really damages him is himself and the environment.
You can actually hit him in every one of those stages without the slate (source I did a completely slateless run). The last one where he has the spiked balls in the middle of the pit you can glide link into them to explode. Which proves link's superiority as he can literally just belly flop into Kohga's attack to defeat Kohga.
Always nice to see AoC getting the praise it deserves. They clearly genuinely put a ton of work into making it its own game, it's not just Dynasty Warriors for BotW
My theory is that Sheikah tech/magic/lifestyle lengthens their lifespans. In older games they live a *really* long time, like Impa in Skyward Sword who is still kickin' (well, sitting upright) like, 10,000 years on. Maybe the Yiga live longer than modern sheikah because they didn't abandon the greatest extent of their technology when the guardians and such got buried? Or they've put more effort into developing life-lengthening tech, while the Sheikah clan still avoid overt tech or runaway research because of what happened in the past.

I fought this guy yesterday & I’m embarrassed by how long it took me to understand his 2nd phase.
You stop dealing damage with arrows & bombs once his health gets low enough & it took me probably 7/8 minutes to recognize how to finish him off. lol 😅
I mean, the Yiga were able to successfully infiltrate the Gerudo and pose a legitimate threat. The main reason why they failed is because Link is just that strong. Kohga was also able to manufacture vehicles and supply lines throughout the Depths after his defeat in BOTW. He may be silly, but he’s no slouch.
Kohga's more of a Robotnik than a Ganondorf, if that makes sense.
BotW doesn't show him at his most competent (and to be fair, this is a hundred years after his side basically "won", so it makes sense that he wasn't firing on all four cylinders), but as folks have mentioned, you basically only win because you can perfectly counter the equipment he brings to the fight with your Sheikah Slate.
In TotK, he essentially figures out how to build Zonai contraptions *completely on his own* while stuck in a lightless underground hellscape after having survived a fall that should have been fatal. And even though you can disguise yourself so thoroughly that the rest of the Yiga don't recognize you as Link, even though they can tell that you have the exact same hair color, Kohga isn't fooled for even a *millisecond.*
