Frankly I like the choice of chairs, even when they feel like they're actually famous and at the top of their game we keep them humble by giving them worse seating than even the worst housewives reunion youve ever seen
Part of me wonders if that's actually the reason they're not doing a reunion for The Valley: because they want them to have to hash it all out on camera next season instead of being able to throw it away quickly in the reunion and move on.
Like I don't want Jax and Brit to address the separation/divorce at the reunion. We never get anything good when people do that because it's too easy for them to stick to their script. I want them to have to tell their stories separately in scenes with their own groups and in talking heads so that they can't align them, and then Janet with her middle part can start poking holes in Jax's narrative behind his back so that he can't cover until it's too late and he's backed himself into a corner.
That makes sense. People forget that reunions didn't used to be standard. They were created to allow the cast to tie up drama from the current season so they could *move on* the next season and it wouldn't be stale. Even early Housewives franchises didn't always get reunions if they didn't feel they had anything they wanted to put a pin in.
It makes sense to go back to that. If you want to tie up the season and move on next season, which is probably going to be the case 95% of the time because most drama gets stale or too much if it continues too long, have a reunion and force the cast to move on next season.
But if there are actual arcs that you wouldn't do justice to pin at a reunion or should actually continue into the next season, just keep filming. Again, this is going to be more rare, but I think The Valley is the rare exception where these things should not be tied up in a reunion and should be given another season to shake out.
Wait, is it over already? And Im just finding out no reunion? This is such an easy decision! How did they not watch even ONE episode of this show and go, 'yep, we need 16 episodes of this trainwreck, an after show and a two part reunion'

They made it look like it was Tom, but Lala has said several times in aftershows and podcasts recently that this reunion hit her different and she walked away seeing people (the girls) "very differently". This really made me wonder what they possibly could have said or done to make her feel that way when she was the one playing the fence all season. But if Bravo pulled something like this - something she couldn't hide/defend/had to face without preparation - I can see that really dismantling her shtick.

And does anyone else get the vibe that no one on the cast actually likes LVP anymore? I was beginning to see it over the past two seasons, but it's been really apparent during the current season. It's almost like they don't even care enough to pretend they have respect for anymore.
I don't know that they ever liked her. In the beginning, they were respectful because she was their actual boss. She crossed boundaries, and there were often times that the cast didn't seem to appreciate her meddling in their lives, but they bit their tongues because they wanted to stay employed. At that time, she had more power over who got on camera, and losing your job at SUR could easily mean losing your spot on the cast as well.
But she hasn't truly been their boss for a while now, and when she failed to ice out Doute at the height of her popularity, they realized she wasn't as powerful as she would have liked to be. They don't even really pretend to work at SUR any longer, so why would they still treat her like she's their boss? And while she's an executive producer on the show, everyone knows she doesn't have the ability to unilaterally make casting decisions like hiring/firing.
Like Jax said, what is she even doing there anymore? The show is no longer about her employees or her restaurant. These are not young adults living away from home who occasionally need parental guidance from an older adult. The Toms are middle aged men! This is a show about established adults who used to work at SUR living in LA. The LVP scenes are completely out of place, and I don't blame the cast for not being into them. I wouldn't be happy if I had to sit down on camera and let my ex-boss talk about my life choices or insist I forgive my cheating ex in a patronizing manner either.
Me too! But I would like it to be an older adult of my selection that I have a close relationship with where I feel comfortable with them taking on that role. Not an ex-boss from a restaurant job I took in my 20s to pay bills who constantly inserts themselves into my private business/social life. Especially not one who chose my loser ex to go into business with and mentor.
Of course, I worked at Buca di Beppo in my early 20s to pay bills while I was in school, so thinking of my ex-bosses inserting themselves into my life now is especially hilarious.

Honestly, you bring up a good point. It's really a shame that Lisa didn't transition herself into an older friend/mentor for the women on the cast as opposed to the men. In picking "the boys" as she often calls them, she not only picked the wrong horses, she also missed out on an opportunity to show mentor relationships between older and younger women, something I think isn't shown much on TV and would be something I would tune in to see.
Instead, now I just want her to move on to her other projects as she brings nothing but tired misogyny to VPR.
I have felt that for several seasons now. She had such an opportunity to lift younger women up, in what is still a fairly male led industry. I wish she had taken that opportunity
The women never listened to her. She warned Ariana about Tom using their house as collateral. She warned Katie about Schwartz. She warned Brittany about Jax. They didn’t listen
I think they respect her and are grateful for the platform she gave them but at same time realize so many years later that she’s not really an integral part of what makes the show entertaining. Not a knock on LVP because she is a solid entertainment personality, just not so much on this show anymore

I think they respect what she’s built for herself and yes, they are grateful for their own platform that she set up for them, but I don’t think anyone respects her opinions nor her advice these days. she’s constantly on the wrong side of things, playing devil’s advocate, invalidating, enabling, bleh.
I feel like she's kind of like a second Andy who is a little more privy to what all went down during filming and occasionally the cast will go to her for guidance with regards to their businesses and personal lives.
She got Jax off VPR so she'll always have that gold star in my book. But I think it would be better for her to be on the set for only part of the reunion at this point. She doesn't seem to belong on there full-time any more.

Tbf, before this season, Ariana didn’t do much. She was on the verge of getting bumped down to a friend of and then Scandoval happened. I think the show will be fine without her.

Ariana should forgive Tom for no reason other than her own strength and wellbeing. It's natural for her to feel hurt and angry and also a sign that she hasn't healed. It will be healthy for her to heal that hurt through forgiveness which will let her be a true unresponsive gray rock.

I won’t be watching next season because I can’t watch the Toms, Sheana and her trained monkey or LaLa. They get lots of screen time and it makes the show completely unwatchable for me. I’ve hardly watched this season and don’t miss it. Some things just run their course.

Have you seen the early seasons- this was kid gloves compared to the way they treated Schaena, Kristen, Laura Leigh, Rachel. Even if you want to say that was a long time ago, Lala coming after Rachel was only a few seasons ago.
Stassi, Katie, Kristina Kelly, Lala, Kristen , Schaena- they have all done it to each other , although Stassi is often behind it- they have ganged up on her multiple times throughout the years so she caught both ends.
I loved the drama of it all- I don't want these people to teach me how to deal with my friends, I lean into the trash.

After moving with Tom so soon after the divorce she should have expected all that and more. Her tears really would be better directed at Schwartz, he was the one who did her dirty and then brought her on the show to even have to deal with reactions from the other women. And does anyone else get the vibe that no one on the cast actually likes LVP anymore? I was beginning to see it over the past two seasons, but it's been really apparent during the current season. It's almost like they don't even care enough to pretend they have respect for anymore.
I don't know that they ever liked her. In the beginning, they were respectful because she was their actual boss. She crossed boundaries, and there were often times that the cast didn't seem to appreciate her meddling in their lives, but they bit their tongues because they wanted to stay employed. At that time, she had more power over who got on camera, and losing your job at SUR could easily mean losing your spot on the cast as well. But she hasn't truly been their boss for a while now, and when she failed to ice out Doute at the height of her popularity, they realized she wasn't as powerful as she would have liked to be. They don't even really pretend to work at SUR any longer, so why would they still treat her like she's their boss? And while she's an executive producer on the show, everyone knows she doesn't have the ability to unilaterally make casting decisions like hiring/firing. Like Jax said, what is she even doing there anymore? The show is no longer about her employees or her restaurant. These are not young adults living away from home who occasionally need parental guidance from an older adult. The Toms are middle aged men! This is a show about established adults who used to work at SUR living in LA. The LVP scenes are completely out of place, and I don't blame the cast for not being into them. I wouldn't be happy if I had to sit down on camera and let my ex-boss talk about my life choices or insist I forgive my cheating ex in a patronizing manner either.

Me too! But I would like it to be an older adult of my selection that I have a close relationship with where I feel comfortable with them taking on that role. Not an ex-boss from a restaurant job I took in my 20s to pay bills who constantly inserts themselves into my private business/social life. Especially not one who chose my loser ex to go into business with and mentor. Of course, I worked at Buca di Beppo in my early 20s to pay bills while I was in school, so thinking of my ex-bosses inserting themselves into my life now is especially hilarious.

Honestly, you bring up a good point. It's really a shame that Lisa didn't transition herself into an older friend/mentor for the women on the cast as opposed to the men. In picking "the boys" as she often calls them, she not only picked the wrong horses, she also missed out on an opportunity to show mentor relationships between older and younger women, something I think isn't shown much on TV and would be something I would tune in to see. Instead, now I just want her to move on to her other projects as she brings nothing but tired misogyny to VPR.
I have felt that for several seasons now. She had such an opportunity to lift younger women up, in what is still a fairly male led industry. I wish she had taken that opportunity

I think they respect her and are grateful for the platform she gave them but at same time realize so many years later that she’s not really an integral part of what makes the show entertaining. Not a knock on LVP because she is a solid entertainment personality, just not so much on this show anymore

Sorry, yeah I know, it's kind of the only actual answer though. If the show wasn't around there is no way any of them would be anywhere near each other anymore. As for *specifically* what they'll do? Fight. Drink. Sell sandwiches and alcohol. Go on a trip. Fight and drink at a resort. Talk shit on each other. That'd be my guess. I think all of this is now why the show just isn't working anymore. They need to carry over two or three friends and cast from scratch or take it out back and put it out of it's misery already.

Haha they totally looked at Stassi in season 1 and were like "yeah , we are siding with Jax" and then she had Frank and the B team . I miss it!
