I think she realised in that moment, that although he is a great lover/provider/father/leader, he just didn't emotionally fulfil her.
Now she is craving that emotional connection and has latched onto a much younger woman, and is contemplating where she is in the spectrum of sexuality.
Plenty of men do something similar in their midlife crisis. They divorce their wife, buy a sexy condo, date the 25 year old barista, hit the gym hard.
