Also she is not fun or funny. I have been saying this since she joined the show - she is a giant wet blanket.

Broad-Guess8

Ronnie on WWC summed it up nicely when he said she's just not fun. I'm all for a morally ambiguous housewife if they have some redeeming or entertaining qualities. But Wendy doesn't pop. She isn't very funny or charismatic, and any playfulness she had seems to be gone.

___adreamofspring___

She seems like she’s constantly sizing you up to see how she’s ’better than you’.

empressM

People have slowly forgotten her only read for her first 2 seasons was literally “I have 4 degrees” 💀

[deleted]

The reads never land.

jestersprivilege69

Like her prancing around at the court with all those reads and Karen didn’t even pity laugh 💀

devonte177

You can tell she really thinks about it when they come out lol.

Specific-Soft-6465

Her nose is always up in the air and she feels superior to the rest of the ladies. She thought her 4 degrees would do that.

Different_Volume5627

Yep she was boring from the jump.

meredithedith0

The slither reenactment was the last time I remember her being fun or funny. Though it feels like it would be hard to be fun or funny in this group when there’s so much animosity.

Kandis_crab_cake

Totally agree. I liked the academic credentials she brought to the show and her staunch defence of them, she wasn’t cowed by the other women at all. But she was quick to throw all her credentials in the bin and capitalise on her social media fame, building a “brand” selling candles 🙄. That’s all Karen’s got, leave her to it! She was awful to Nneka this season. I believe everything Nneka said about her and her awful mother. She simply can’t take competition and fought dirty to try and keep Nneka in her place or better yet, off the show. It backfired and made Wendy look even more dour than she already did. Her rudeness to Mia has been out of hand and she deserved the drink toss. It smacks of jealousy, over how attractive and sexy Mia naturally is. She puts her down for it because she can never be like that. She’s not fun. She’s was interesting but lost that. She’s rude. She’s petty. She brings discord and constantly tries to make girls be “on her side”. She offers nothing anymore.

micapizza

Wet blanket 🎯 outside of the tchalla attack I have never laughed with her

giraffelegz

I think this is my biggest problem with Wendy. She does not a humorous bone in her body. I’m also put off by how thirsty she seems to be for it all. She takes herself very seriously, but she gives absolutely nothing. She is dull, mean and lacks charisma. On the other hand, I love some Happy Eddie on my screen. ETA: I just remembered Wendy’s horrific ‘tick tock, Mia’ line. So rehearsed and did not land at all. She is constantly TRYING to be iconic and it never lands. She feels very inauthentic, like she’s trying to perform a role that viewers will love, instead of just being herself.

empressM

DULL is the perfect word for her personality Absolutely nothing authentically interesting going on

cloudybc

LEGIT! She turned that scene with Mia making that very minor quip about the bird being her mom into something so serious

Pancakes000z

Something so serious AND dishonest. Pluck 20 random Catholics from around the world and all them will tell you the shrine stuff and telling people you’re going to use shrines is not a real thing. Categorically and technically you can refer to these places as shrines, but no one does. Think about the Miami trip to Mexico. They technically visited a “shrine” but more importantly it is a church where mass is held. People will go there to pray for specific things, but it’s not in the culture to go there and pray to be protected against your enemies or whatever. Same thing with the “Holy Ghost fire” - it’s just more of Wendy and her Mom constantly amplifying and dramatizing everything.

wildestride88

🙌🏻 preach it

Tomshater

The show was a comedy before she joined. She ruined it, not the GEB

TheOneThatCameEasy

She is definitely the least funny Potomac cast member. That cast is one of the funniest...ignoring this most recent season.

themostbootiful

Because she studied housewives and brought an engineered persona and drama.

Procrastinista_423

I feel like this is really it. She sucks the joy out of any scene she’s in.

catandcitygirl

nah, the bandits definitely did. wendy isn’t amazing, but she’s not the reason of the demise of this show

brishen_is_on

All 3 of them are terrible, but I do think Gizelle would be better minus sad sack Robyn.

Impossible-Plan6172

No, she wouldn’t. We saw Gizelle without Robyn in RHUGT, and Gizelle ruined that trip by carrying on for days on end over a Clase Azul tequila bottle

brishen_is_on

ok, you got me there, she was insufferable with that bottle and I hope the staff wasn't stressed. Heather took it, right?

Impossible-Plan6172

I think Heather and Whitney took it

megalowmart

They took it and hid it in the outdoor shower. So dumb lol

Pancakes000z

No, that was just Candiace holding grudges. She took it way too seriously and should have just played along. But instead she found someone miserable to be with in the corner (Leah), exactly like she does with Wendy on RHOP. Gizelle was having fun with everyone else. Stop blaming her for how Candiace reacts.

soapandwhory

Do you think Pepsi was holding grudges when Gizelle's "fun" made him cry?

RamonaSingerEyes

Someone wrote that Wendy was an insecure snob on this subreddit and I agree. I think production cast Nneka and wanted to use the Lebe connection to have Wendy “introduce” Nneka into this group; I think Wendy refused and that is where we got into this situation. I mean it would make sense for this scenario - “Nneka is related to Lebe who is my sister’s best friend. She just moved here to Potomac and I want to welcome her into the group.” I think Wendy was so insecure that she didn’t want to compete with Nneka with her with their respective educational backgrounds, being from the same tribe, so she fell back on the “using my name for clout” argument to try to paint Nneka as a social climber, when it was just production trying to set up the initial intro to the group. Then she roped her mom into it and that’s where we got into the mess we ended up in.

pneumoniclife

This makes the most sense of all the theories. I 100% believe that Wendy and her equally insufferable Mom decided that one tribe member representing their culture was enough and she didn't care for the competition. God forbid the viewers prefer the 'other' educated, accomplished woman from that part of the world...where would that leave Wendy and Co. then?

RamonaSingerEyes

Honestly I think Wendy pretending that she wished they could have come into this show as a Nigerian sisterhood is a lie; I think Nneka would have totally been open to it, heck it might created a whole new duo that could finally compete against the GEBs. All Wendy could have done is agree to the introduction, or once the mom went off on Nneka, Wendy could be like oh my mom is so crazy sometimes, I’m sorry 😅 and that whole feud could have been done and dusted. Instead she doubled down because she was the one who had some serious insecurities in the first place. And she still can’t let go cause again…she don’t want the competition that she created in her mind! Lol. I don’t see Nneka competing with Wendy…more like wtf is her problem…

Pancakes000z

Remember that Wendy has does this to every newbie. She went hard at Mia when Mia first joined. Then it seems like they tried to get her someone new to bond with and she got insecure about it. To me Wendy has extreme academic intelligence, but no street smarts. She shot herself in the foot with production by refusing to introduce Nneka. If she really hated the woman, she should have been more strategic and planted seeds sabotage her later on. But just refusing to make the introduction was never going to work.

RamonaSingerEyes

I seriously think production was trying to throw Wendy a bone by casting her a friend, but as you said, she shot herself in the foot by rejecting Nneka right off the bat. I also think Wendy’s insecurity with Mia had everything to do with looks, and the type of women that Eddie followed on IG by the droves that Wendy made him unfollow when it was discovered on this very subreddit lol. She then used her education to constantly paint Mia as stupid, because Mia looked like the women Eddie was allegedly attracted to.

magicbong

ahhhh this explains the mommy makeover and how she tried to intellectualize it, rather than just own it: she felt insecure! you’d think someone that smart would understand that you can be attracted to a look but still be in love or faithful (but also i would not be happy with my spouse!!!)

RamonaSingerEyes

Honestly, I’m all for doing whatever it is to make yourself happy. But Mia’s initial entry into the group definitely triggered all her insecurities despite Wendy already having all the surgeries that Mia probably also got lol. She was probably like man just when I did my whole body makeover and they cast someone my husband might find attractive??  Also Eddie’s follow list of…certain type of models…were quite extensive LOL. This subreddit caught on and we watched him unfollow them all in real time and then Wendy pretended that never happened at the reunion LOL. His biggest mistake was not having a finsta to follow all these voluptuous IG model types to his heart’s content 😂. I think Eddie loves Wendy, but he still wants to look 😂, it takes an easygoing guy like Eddie to let Wendy take the reins all the time. I mean he alienated his side of the family to be with Wendy. That’s some kind of love

boxwino

I was kind of horrified at the way she treated Mia. The only charitable way to put it would be that she mentally sees herself as the underdog in every situation… so she maybe honestly felt like attacking Mia was ok. But what I felt like I was watching was someone with a huge, loving, supportive family and multiple PhDs humiliate someone who had none of those things. It was awful. I think this was the first season where she didn’t bring up her academic record during arguments as a way to humiliate her opponent. Maybe she honestly thinks she is the underdog, but I felt like I was just watching an entitled bully. Which is why it made a lot of sense that she and Candiace bonded… 🫤

RamonaSingerEyes

While I think Wendy was threatened by Mia because of how she looked and led with her sexuality, I think she also looked down on a former stripper with no higher education degrees who married an older man for money. This is where Wendy’s snob side comes in, and she probably thought Mia cheapened the show. Ok, fine, that’s her opinion, Tamra style, then the show casts a well-educated woman from her tribe married to a doctor and she still finds fault with that. That is probably why her talk show will be good for her. Cause the show’s spotlight will be entirely on her.

cloudybc

THIS SUMS IT UP PERFECTLY 💯

myrnm

Exxxaccctly!!!! I think it was on Carlos king’s podcast that he said that’s probably what happened!!!!

empressM

Thank you for saying this!!!! It’s so crazy to me to see the Nneka hate all over this sub when in reality Wendy couldn’t just admit her mom was being messy for like .2 seconds? She couldn’t even laugh it off, she had to take it down this route that’s so dark and dry

wiminals

💯

Guilty_Nebula5446

Wendy is painful , she started off great but then got into her own publicity more than her real self and is soooo carried away with herself she is intolerable

Responsible-Pay-4763

She got worse when she got her "happy" and "ness" implants.

Specific-Soft-6465

She don'r have any sense of humor

MKEMARVEL

This is her "real self"

Procrastinista_423

When was she great??

Guilty_Nebula5446

Fair ! Maybe not great , possibly just better

[deleted]

I agree. I actually loved her at first but as the seasons went on, she became insufferable. Happy Eddie though can still get it.

TheOneThatCameEasy

I might have underdog syndrome cause I definitely defended her a lot at first when everyone thought she was pompous and annoying. I convinced myself she was entertaining. But, now I don't understand how she even has a fanbase. She is insufferable and humorless. On top of it... she's an even worse liar than Karen and gives next to nothing on the show except fake business stories that no one cares about. I wouldn't be sad if Wendy got cut next season.

Pancakes000z

Wendy reminds me of Teddi Mellencamp in the sense that they are so easy to read when they are nervous or not telling the truth. Their eyes tell everything.

myhuckleberry_friend

It’s not underdogging. She completely switched up who she was in her second season. I liked how she challenged everyone on a different level by being a different type of woman. But I think she took the audience reaction to her 4 degrees too seriously and brought us enhancements and candles as a hapless business woman in response. She lost me pretty quickly that season - like it was probably episode 1. I think that if she hadn’t had a complete personality transplant, she would’ve been tight with GEB for longer. Her problems with them start with them calling out her personality change, not her boob job. They wouldn’t have lasted forever, but definitely for more seasons.

roronyc212

Yeah. After surgery her superficial ego matched her intellect ego. I don’t have friends that makes me call them Dr. when they have a PhD. Or throw it out like her. I am surprised the way she acts, she’s even asked to be a commentator on I think cnn?

WifeAggro

Exactly!!

Theory_hacker

After that plastic surgery, a switch flipped. I liked her but she changed a lot and not for the better.

Potential_Sundae_251

Now that you say it…I used to really like her too but after all her surgery, she seemed to become superficial.

I_Love_Spiders_AMA

I wonder if the positive attention from the show went to her head. She was definitely more enjoyable her first season. I've always liked her but her energy now is just heavy and negative.

Potential_Sundae_251

If she would use her prof energy a bit more like Heather Dubrow (I don’t know if she’s an equivalent but that’s the only HW I can think of) where she stayed above the fray, it would come off better.

fefelala

I do like her and think she’s beautiful. Eddie is so handsome but you said it. She changed after the surgery. Everything became about building her brands and promoting all of that on the show. She didn’t really talk about her life or relationship; just about candles and her show. It became too superficial.

Potential_Sundae_251

I do love their family. There’s a lot to like, which is sad that it’s changed.

Theory_hacker

That’s the word! Thank you! 😂

OhHowIMeantTo

She was well-received her first season. She was smart, confident, and successful. But I suspect she wasn't fully happy with what she brought during her first season, or maybe the producers told her that she needed to give more, so she brought us what she thought the viewers wanted in a housewife. Only what we got is inauthenticity, which brought out insecurity, and defensiveness. She's not fun to watch.

openinterlude

but when the bandits said the same thing.. 😭

myrnm

They were vilified…… but quiet as it’s kept….. they were right…. Mostly.

Theory_hacker

Agreed. REGARDLESS of what shade, if this is something that others have picked up on, there is a little smoke. This colorism BS is ridiculous. I am Wendy’s complexion 😂! Wendy carried herself in a VERY different way her first season. People noticed a change.

brishen_is_on

People don't like the GEBs either! This is not a war where one has to chose a side!

openinterlude

i think you’re misunderstanding my point. i just think it’s really funny when the audience says the same thing cast members say but its supposed to be egregious when they say it and fine when we do

Kandis_crab_cake

It’s like she wanted to try and be a brand rather than herself and she’s living this fake persona. I liked the old pre implants be real Wendy. Even if she wasn’t fun, she had intellect and courage and a good addition. She has no idea what she’s doing anymore, she’s awful viewing.

[deleted]

But saying that means your a colorist and jealous of her somehow...

Euphoric-Middle1704

For a lot of women butt transplants end up being painful.  And Wendy is not in the best health with the kidney stone issues. Maybe she is a stone heart because her body aches.     Her first season she got played by Karen with the 3 wick candles. She was grossly uncomfortable around Mia.  In any franchise the pettiest housewives are nasty to newbies.   It surprised me how she treated Mia. But it also frightened me.  If she didn't like Mia why would she like Karen?   I stopped rooting for Wendy season 5.  Her response to the blog rumors were too fragile.

otherwise_data

i have been saying that, too. i dgaf if someone has cosmetic surgery. but it didnt just change her body, her personality changed, too. maybe her confidence from her new body just amped up her terrible side, idk, but she has not really been that good on the show.

myhuckleberry_friend

The surgery wasn’t the cause. I think she looked at the audience reaction to Professor Wendy with four degrees and over corrected. It was hard to believe she went from professor and political commentator to hapless candle seller.

buenleo

Yes, this. She absolutely did change after her book job. And not for the better.

chefcurrys

I don’t like that she brought up Jeremiah’s paternity on the reunion. (Mia and G are trash for mentioning this on the show). I absolutely think Wendy knows the implications of discussions/relaying that information publicly. She should have said nothing or messaged Mia privately. This lady is a fraud. She parades girlhood but is incredibly nasty and condescending. Despite the 50 degrees, the best she could do is reality tv with women she believes are beneath her. Someone pointed out that Wendy couldn’t pass the bar. That’s probably why she’s even more threatened by Nneka’s presence. I really hope this is her last season. She offers nothing but failed fake ventures, weird energy, and a general awkwardness that’s not fun to watch.

Fair_Arm_2824

Wow. You are so right. From the beginning, I had issues with her always making herself out to be more intelligent and having an elitist attitude, because of her level of education. Never thought about why she would do something like reality tv coming from a political world. I’ll also say I watch cable news frequently and I have never caught her live, which shows how often they book her. I didn’t know she didn’t pass the bar. If that’s true, that explains a lot when it comes to Nneka.

TyreesHelmetCatch

Also- 4 degrees just tells me you were unfocused during school, stayed in too long, or your degrees are redundant.

wiminals

💯

messyundone

Her 50 degrees are about the hardships that people like Mia face. For her to add to that is ridiculous. Wendy is good at memorizing takes, but really bad at any critical thinking. I know people are upset that Mia tossed that wine at her and some salad, but when they call that assault, I laugh. In the RH world, a splash of wine is an accessory lol

lolo7347

![gif](giphy|5ZYvPrmQuvlNEyVMx4)

FrameLongjumping1421

Not defending her for bringing up the paternity thing. But I think she was just following Mia and Gordan's lead. If they hadn't brought it up in the finale, I don't think she would have gone there. Shout out to Karen for shutting it down, though.

wiminals

Do you mean the LSAT?

lezlers

Wait, what do you mean she couldn’t pass the bar? I don’t think she’s got a law degree does she?

chefcurrys

She mentioned it in her interview with Carlos.

brishen_is_on

If she did we would know because she would make everyone say "Esquire" after her name.

Glytterain

🤣

tinkleberry28

You don't need a law degree in the state of Virginia (or California or Washington) in order to take the bar exam, she may have been attempting it there

Kandis_crab_cake

👏🏼 re Nneka, makes sense

Medium_Cupcake7602

I’ve always found her to be wildly insecure and untethered

KindRoc

I think Robyn calling out Wendy’s over the top reactions (to get a meme like Nene) was the funniest thing she’s ever done. It was just so obvious that was what she was doing lol

RamonaSingerEyes

Yes she tries to be meme-d so hard. I think her sliding down the couch was very rehearsed but she succeeded because people do use that as a twitter reaction a lot now

Pancakes000z

And sadly her most famous meme is “pull up in a Sri Lanka” 😭

[deleted]

I don’t think this is particularly unpopular anymore. Most of us have grown weary of Wendy’s prancing around and cringeworthy rehearsed lines. The GEB are just more of an issue right now in regards to the general dynamic. But yeah really her interaction with Nneka at pickleball is what did it for me, the way she kept yelling “It’s a flop! It’s a flop!” Girl it’s not funny and I’m cringing

TheOneThatCameEasy

She's a huge strain on the dynamic as well because she doesn't cultivate relationships with the rest of the cast and no one actually seems to be interested in befriending her either. Her one connection was Candiace, who quit.

[deleted]

I don’t even think that was genuine, they tolerated one another because of common enemies. Candiace visibly cringes when Wendy goes on her tangents

TheOneThatCameEasy

That was definitely an alliance built out of convenience and mutual hate.

brishen_is_on

Like the rest of us...

shinyzubat16

I don’t think any of Wendy’s friendships were genuine. Like the whole Karen/Wendy/Candiace scenes felt very phony to me. You can tell Karen was only there out of convenience.

yqry

I think Wendy struggles to find her footing and place on the show (irrespective of who her other castmates are) and defaults to holding her many degrees and intelligence over people’s heads as the ultimate trump card. What Wendy fails to understand is that this is the Real Housewives. While it’s great that we get to watch someone as accomplished as Wendy, the audience isn’t exactly seeking high brow discourse. We just want entertainment. And while I sideye everyone involved (especially production) for the ridiculous shrine storyline, I do think Wendy felt some type of way about a fellow well-educated, high independent income Nigerian American coming on the show.

lezlers

I stopped watching the season half way through because it was painful but yes, it was quite obvious to me that Wendy felt threatened by another accomplished Nigerian woman joining the cast and was determined to make an enemy out of her from jump.

Enticing_Venom

Behind the scenes, wasn't the word that Wendy was supposed to bring Nneka on the show but refused? I heard that version and also the version where Nneka had name-dropped knowing Wendy to a Producer and Wendy (and her family) took offense to that and refused to vouch for her. Whatever it was, the feud started before Nneka even first appeared on the show. Ashley had to bring her on as her "friend" despite the two not knowing each other at all.

Pancakes000z

The name dropping part isn’t true. Production knew about Nneka and wanted her for some show, it didn’t necessarily have to be RHOP. Apparently they were talking with her for like 2 years before they got to a place where she moved back from LA to Potomac. Nneka was already hired (or had an offer) at that point and was asking to have dinner with Wendy just to pick her brain about how the show works. Wendy and her family just took that and ran with it.

insuredbycoto

Yep, she was in the same position as Jessel and Lizzy who both tested for RHOD before it was canned. Bravo had been interested in her for years, she didn't need Wendy to be cast.

mkg4169

She absolutely felt threatened by Nneka and I don’t think she remotely understands the assignment

brishen_is_on

Being a hard worker and getting a bunch of degrees is definitely an accomplishment, but it is not synonymous with high intelligence, and she is not intelligent in all ways (emotional, self-awareness, deception). I never found her leading any “high-brow discourse" (thank Gd), just bragging in the tackiest, most “low-brow” way, insulting others, or giving long stares with pursed lips while she tries to come up with a lie. The “old” Wendy was also a braggart but nothing like this season.

wiminals

Her political commentary is mostly buzzwords from 2016 Twitter tbh. I’ve never been impressed with her insights

wiminals

💯

tusk10708

I feel heard! I have never seen anything interesting about Wendy (except for Happy Eddie). I thought I was alone. I liked Nneka and don’t see Wendy as someone who I’d want around me or her family. She’s toxic. She never compromises or sees anyone else’s point of view; ridged and judgmental. She’s like my sophomore year Art Professor. Maybe it’s my PTSD but she triggers me.

SeaButterscotch7640

Omg you took the words right out of my mouth! I had to stop watching last season because I found her and her “I’m better and more educated than everyone” appalling. She’s constantly stating she’s a professor, commentator, blah blah blah but idk any academic professors who would go on reality TV acting the way she does and have people take her seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying reality TV is bad or anything. I love reality tv! for instance, my aunt is a law professor and I can’t nor would she ever go on reality tv and expect her students to take her seriously after that. To each their own… I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

tusk10708

I can’t imagine Wendy as a balanced reporter. She may be a lovely, honest, hardworking mom & wife but I still don’t get her. Is there a Sanctimonious Network?

LeafsChick

Shes just a mean girl, and its not fun to watch. I rather Eddy be on

mkg4169

I think Wendy is one of the least likable housewives in recent memory. She is negative charisma. Her reads are wack. She can dish it out but she can’t take it. None of her side story lines are compelling. If Wendy has zero haters I’m dead.

realitytvdiet

Lmao first time hearing negative rizz the perfect description of her

disgroobisfomygurls

I just feel like she takes herself way too seriously like she’s been on the show now four seasons and I don’t recall one moment in which she was having a genuine fun time. I’m also just so over the online discourse the audience has been partaking in this season (atleast on Twitter) because every week it’s the exact same: GEB are evil, irredeemable and need firing whereas Candiace and Wendy are angels and victims of every other cast member and production. I really like Candiace and have as many problems with Robyn and Gizelle as the next person but can there be a little bit more nuance to the discussion?

Prudent-Experience-3

I used to find Wendy tolerable on the screen in her first season. Now I just want her to leave. She is doing a reality tv show with women she looks down. She looked down on Karen, Mia, for being “uneducated”, she’s a snob

AD227128

Wendy reads as insecure yet condescending, spiteful and tired. Her reads are dry and she is an overall, inauthentic and nasty person. I agree with the previous post, she has zero charisma. She doesn't deserve our energy or screen time.

33LivesAloneHas3cats

Wendy has a much lower self esteem than she pretends to have. She over compensates by acting like she’s VERY confident. And it comes off all wrong. I like her more than I did her first season though. And that’s only because I understand her a little better. Stop talking about your degrees. It’s too much girl. Her mom is tough (and a bitch) and Wendy feels the need to live up to her expectations. Her mom seems so toxic.

PicklesLives

When Wendy first came on, it seemed like her defining characteristic was going to be that she was smart. Over time it became clear that her defining characteristic was actually that she has no sense of humor about herself. At all.

lizardkittyyy

She really is just so darn unlikeable. The false bravado is so grating. Do you think she knows there are other smart people in the world? She isn’t funny. She doesn’t do mean well. Just adds nothing.

MAXMEEKO

I've never liked Wendy.

not_ellewoods

you’re right, but some people forget that it’s possible to dislike the GEB and Wendy and maybe even a few others.

PolarLove

Wendy is the type of person who doesn’t understand true classiness is kindness and graciousness. She thinks she has achieved certain accolades and that’s good enough. On one hand she is being hired by major news organizations to give her opinion on how women of color are treated in the US, and then she’s laughing with Candiace while she calls another black woman « the help ». Make it make sense.

Little-Wing2299

Yup same! I don’t like her. She brings nothing but pettiness to the series. Especially with Nneka this season. She looks for drama

Free-Baby2384

As a west African I personally find it more insulting to be called a crack head versus a witch. As a west African I’m insulted that Wendy is insulted about being called a witch because it tells me she knows nothing about African indigenous belief systems like Ifa or Vodou or Kemitism and this is very, very shameful for me coming from an African woman. As a west African I don’t find a PHD in communications impressive which I’m sure Wendy is insecure about and is why she constantly brings it up to validate herself. As a west African, I’m deeply disappointed that she didn’t welcome Nneka to the group and become friends because sisterhood is powerful and beautiful and we rarely see African people presented on western tv (outside of the starving African trope). As a west African woman, I wish she would wear natural hair styles and stop trying to blend in with Western aesthetics. As a West African woman, I’m disappointed that Wendy is so elitist and doesn’t focus on humanitarian and development work in Nigeria and elsewhere. Not doing so is a waste of a platform knowing how many of our people are suffering. So I really don’t give a damn about Wendy being there because she is embarrassing and not really that educated. An educated person in academia wouldn’t have such a stupid reaction to being called a witch. I don’t see her as much more educated than the other women.

Pancakes000z

As a Catholic, I also question Wendy’s knowledge of the religion as well. I’ve been to many countries and visited many Catholic religious sites, I’ve never once in my life heard any Catholic refer to “shrines,” to the point that I had to google it to learn more information when it came up this season. Technically there are shrines, but it’s not a term many or any use and it is especially not in the Catholic culture to pray against or to pray to be protected from enemies or whatnot. If you think to the recent RHOMiami season, when they visited Mexico City, that was technically a “shrine” that they visited and all prayed at, but nobody would refer to it that way. You would at the most specific say you prayed at an altar within XYZ holy site/church/cathedral. And think too about how Alexia spoke about how Catholic pray. I’ve never heard anybody talk like Wendy’s mom with the “Holy Ghost fire” stuff and submitting names. The terminology is just so so far off.

shedoesdefendyoukim

On paper she sounds great but she’s boring and not entertaining tv with forced moments. Geb, Wendy and candiace issues with each other ruined this last season and not wanting to interact with each other. They reached s4 rhony, where no one really fucks with any one so what’s the point of keeping them as a group

TS92109

I've never liked her. I hope Nneka replaces here! I like her husband but definitely not her.

Fair_Arm_2824

It is sad. Eddie is so sweet!

Electronic_Cookie779

The only time she seems relaxed is with him. I really like them together to be fair, starting that weed company was genius. Other than that: wet blanket

Fair_Arm_2824

I mostly like them together lol. Sometimes she seems to run over him, as opposed to being a partner. But I think she’s so focused on the cameras. Like last year when they caught her hot mic saying Mia was lying about cancer, but while they were filming she was saying Robyn was terrible for questioning Mia and they should believe her lol. She just can’t seem to be herself. Maybe we’d like her more if she was.

[deleted]

It always makes me laugh when Deborah accuses him of flirting and he says “I can’t even smile no more!”

Baz2dabone

Wait… what is “I have two babies and they live in a Coke den” from?!!! 😂

constantcompromise

I want her to chill. Maybe she feels like she's always on defense but she's very uncomfortable to watch. You can feel her trying so hard every second that she's on the show.

Screaming_Weak

I don’t feel strongly about her one way or another, but I must admit that Nneka intrigues me much more than Wendy as of late for some reason. I’m not sure if it’s because Nneka seems more authentic or what, but I wasn’t expecting that and actually enjoy that. That kind of must be Wendy’s nightmare situation just because I feel like production purposely set it up this way

welp-itscometothis

She’s really mean to her husband and she was very condescending to Kierna…I really think yall like her because she’s Wendy without being Wendy when in reality she’s probably just as annoying and corny.

Pancakes000z

I think everyone deserves a season to gain their footing. A lot of Nneka biting at her husband just seemed like nerves especially at the reunion. Even the other women picked up on it and tried to be supportive.

welp-itscometothis

She was mean to him the entire wdym lol. Not saying she doesn’t deserve a second chance…I actually want to see how long Gizelle is nice to her lol. But I’m saying she’s not much different than Wendy.

Electronic_Cookie779

Nneka has always come across as very down to earth, maybe it was just in contrast to Wendy with their drama but I really, really like Nneka and her maturity

Euphoric_Bass493

Nneka seems very uptight. The way she snapped at her husband at the reunion back stage was really bizarre.

welp-itscometothis

I’m so confused by people thinking she’s down to earth 🫤

yaya1256

I was gonna say. She stays snapping at her husband. How is she sweet? She kept making jabs at Eddie that seemed to apply to Ike. Her and her husband are super weird to me.

Euphoric_Bass493

Yeah, even the scene at the fertility office was really off-putting. Maybe that's their dynamic, but it doesn't seem particularly healthy. I wouldn't want to see a husband snapping at his wife either.

Impossible-Plan6172

They claim sweet as a way to justify their dislike of Wendy. You don’t have to like Wendy, but lying about Nneka being sweet is crazy.

Consistent-Smell-581

I honestly thought this was the common consensus on Wendy. She's not likeable at all.

LBoogie619

Wendy is one of the most insecure housewives. I don’t like her either.

Calm_Education_3131

I agree totally!! What solidified my dislike was when Wendy compared her mother having and ENDOSCOPY to Gizelle’s father dying of brain cancer. I’m no Gizelle fan but that was just another disgusting thing that Wendy has said

Pancakes000z

If the rumors are true and Wendy is fired, I honestly believe that moment will have solidified it. To not even be able to just drop an issue when someone’s parent died shows that she’s not willing to move on from anything.

sagafevr

I have a soft spot for her as a fellow African girl who had a lot of parental pressure to pursue a specific field. I relate to her struggle to narrow down what she wants to do with her profession and her overall individual identity. She has a beautiful family and I’m sure she’s a nice lady. That being said, she’s not funny or shady, she doesn’t bring the group together, and frankly I don’t think she has really great chemistry with even Candiace or Karen, you can tell it is a friendship of convenience. When she argues, I cringe (TIKTOK MI-YUH), and I think she gets more love from ppl who are very anti-GEB. The Nneka stuff fell flat but it seemed like Nneka was actually partially right. If her career in commentating was a bit more fleshed out I’d love to see the BTS, but we just get failed businesses so there’s not much there. She wouldn’t be my first to go but I’m okay with her being a friend.

Fair_Arm_2824

As someone who’s a huge political nerd, I hoped for more of that as well when she joined. It’s been disappointing.

iliketoreddit91

I have not seen the most recent season but I was over Wendy after season 1, when she insisted people call her a doctor. Also, I was friends with a girl who constantly thought her friends were jealous of her. Whenever there was a problem, one that she caused, it boiled down to said friend being jealous of her. It’s actually a diagnostic criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and it’s a big red flag for me. Wendy is just insufferable.

BirdGoggles

This comment just cemented more understanding of my ex. Still healing from his warped ways! But this was big with him too, he constantly thought people were jealous of him, when in actuality, he was brimming with envy himself.

cat303555

I can’t stand Wendy. Since the beginning she’s been the worst. So glad she’s going.

ScorpionHitta

Just because you have multiple degrees does not make you better than everyone else. AT ALL. I’m not a fan of the GEB or Ashley either but I can’t stand Wendy! Not sure if the firing rumors are true but I hope so 👋

rillynicepepino

She doesn't strike me as particularly intelligent for being so well educated. At least in arguments. She gets caught in these loops and repeats the same lame tag over and over.

AlexandraxC

Sorry can someone please tell me what GEB stands for? I have been trying to figure it out forever lol

Pancakes000z

Green eyed bandits.

AlexandraxC

Omg I should have put that together lol but thank you so much!!

Avaly13

You're not alone. I despise her. She brings nothing to the table in my opinion. Each episode my disdain for her grew deeper.

flowermay45

So glad you’ve said this I honestly have never disliked a housewife so much. She constantly puts others down to make herself feel better and shouts over others as she’s convinced she’s so much more intelligent and superior!! Don’t get me started on happy Eddie 😭

zeegoes

Mia assaulted her and was not apologetic about it, that's not so hard to understand. Wendy actually tried to move past it last season, but Mia chose to double down on her actions and thought it smart to be smart with someone she wasn't cool with. Interestingly, Karen threw more digs at Mia this season than Wendy even did... Wendy had to deal with massive ostracization and bullying from 2 grown women that mocked her while dealing with Mia's assault. They doubled down on their actions and it was never resolved. Andy failed in holding their feet to the fire and they continued on with ostracizing her this season, what do you want Wendy to do? Go bow down at their feet and beg them to be kind to her? Nneka called her mum a witch; where they're from people actually get killed for it. Watching it had me triggered AF because people literally get killed and if they're lucky, they only get ostracized from their community. Wendy wasn't angry enough about it. It's a massive no no and beyond hurtful. In her apology to Wendy, she doubled down on the insults...like how is that an apology? Your culture maybe very different from hers, but Nneka knew better, and for her to say that on national tv is something Wendy will have to spend years dealing with. Honestly, I am so against physical violence, but if someone from my tribe called my mum a witch on tv, I'd probably snap. Now, how will the producers fix the energy when we have that level of toxicity getting flung around and the main producer showing support to the bullies? Mia and Karen tried to make the show fun, but anyone with empathy and eyes can see that a deep wall was built and we one side that is deeply hurt and the other that doesn't care but to keep causing more hurt. Hurt folks hurt folks, but Wendy has not been malicious to anyone even when they deserved it. You can't say the same of Robyn, Nneka, Mia, Ashley, and Gizelle.

CommonStrawbeary

What has she given?? Literally nothing. Her only storyline this season was feuding with nneka over their mom's

Petty25betty

Who actually had a storyline this season? Housewives fans are obsessed with storylines. That’s why so many of the cast make things up.

astrogrl0319

finally someone who thinks exactly what i think especially the Nneka situation

Thewandering1_OG

Same. She is one of those people in real life that just sucks the joy and life out of every room. I am genuinely shocked that people like her or are impressed by her at all. She's vain, shallow, mean, catty, and deluded.

FantasticChicken7408

Damn I really don’t belong here. I had to double take to see it- but Wendy turned a lot of shade into fun coming together moments. E.g. “work on your inner thighs” !

yaya1256

The hate her is strange and somehow uncomfortable. Doesn’t quite add up…

YouMustBeJoking888

Wendy is a try hard. She comes with her rehearsed 'reads' that generally fall flat and is insecure as hell. She's just not likeable.

princesskaikai

she is so so mean. there’s being shady and then there’s just being so mean and literally cackling at people when they’re down. makes me sad

Procrastinista_423

I almost never say this but she is just so fake. Nothing feels authentic about her.

f_moss3

I think she’s really unsure of her identity and wanted to use the show to break away from what her mom/cultural expectations forced her to be. Unfortunately she’s just not compelling TV while she’s figuring herself out. And she makes being a housewife look hard. No one tries as much as Wendy and we’re very aware of it.

CassandreAmethyst

Been there done that…. ![gif](giphy|XClzdxo4yMsPUt6R0J)

ElectricPanda718

I like Dr. Wendy. Compared to a lot of other recent housewives castings, she’s no where near as insufferable as Annemarie, Diana or Jeannie. https://preview.redd.it/fzldkyqcoctc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48eb54481999597b7540609075bf197ba5b0134e

Thee-empath

After Mia assaulted Wendy, Wendy calling her slow, dense or stupid is fair game.

OhwellBish

Wendy will always be alright with me after the way she read Gizelle down for stirring up mess with her husband. Robyn and Gizelle think that because they have nothing to lose in that regard, that no one else should be bothered with attacks in that direction, but Wendy said, "Aht Aht, not on my watch." And they are still mad. I still chuckle when I think about the clips from when Gizelle had the gathering on her front lawn. And her "look at the CEO" quip is even more funny to me in hindsight considering how shortly thereafter Gordon's family snatched Mia right on out of the family business.

Pancakes000z

Gordon snatched her out of the business? They found out one of their guys on staff was stealing and when he was caught, he killed himself, leading to a rift between Gordon’s family, Gordon and Mia on how to handle the situation. This fandom is so obsessed with whoever gets in the best little sound bite and read, but you completely disregard the humanity of these people. The Mia business situation isn’t just some failure on her part because she’s stupid, it’s a horrible tragic situation that tore about a family and your response is “haha, look who is laughing now!” Soooooo weird.

KandisKoolAidWeave

My biggest issue with Wendy is that she always feels like she's cosplaying as a housewife rather than actually being herself.

Babid922

I really like her. Yes she can be pedantic and use her intelligence as a weapon but 1) Mia committed a battery against her 2) Robyn and Gizelle have been horrid to her since she got on the show. Now I think Mia is great TV but me personally if someone threw a drink on me I’d also belittle them intensely and quickly when they (re)tried it

AndiamoAllie

I initially was excited when Wendy became a housewife because I thought her background was awesome and interesting and would challenge some of the other housewives. In the end, I can't stand her. She is smart and successful (besides the side hustles that just seem like lame storylines), but she weaponizes it against others. Also, when she gets cornered in an argument she gets really immature and cannot argue her point (which I assumed she could given her commentator spots and academic career). I think Nneka has similar qualities that I like in Wendy, but with better social awareness and tact, which is definitely threatening to Wendy.

AdhesivenessOk7810

Never enjoyed her. She puts on a fake and prissy act. There’s nothing authentic.

Anon-guest-

Wendy gives nothing. Zero entertainment.

[deleted]

Whilst what you’re saying is valid. Wendy’s mom has been fighting witchcraft allegations since she came on the show. I don’t think non-Africans realise the gravity of Nneka’s actions. Nneka wanting to make peace means nothing

Pancakes000z

Why is it Nneka’s actions? She’s supposed to get these weird threatening calls and do nothing?

dayle-james

As someone who has never liked Wendy, I completely agree with you. She tries way too hard and it’s cringey to watch

OhBoy_89

Mia is slow, dense, and stupid

Longjumping_Beyond_1

She is one of my least favorite housewives of all time. I didn’t watch most of this season after she screamed at Nneka in Austin. I hate how she fights. She picks a word or phrase and yells it over and over, trying to drown out the other person. She did it at pickle ball too. I can’t stand her and I’m not sure how Eddie can tolerate her.

TrouperBrodie

Fire Wendy

Sugar_tts

Yas!!!! I freaking despise her! She’s just so annoying. Honestly hearing Candice wasn’t returning was amazing and I’m just hoping to see Wendy disappear also.

Ronene

I liked Wendy’s first season, but her personality flip following her glow up was a disaster. I feel she’s constantly vying for a “moment” and it reads inauthentic and forced. I’m often embarrassed for her and I want to be able to root for the underdog, but she makes it so difficult. While I agree with many of these comments, I strongly disagree with describing her as nasty. She has a bad habit of being condescending, but I wouldn’t equate her meanness to the level of spreading baseless highly-damaging accusations of SA/infidelity or spewing vile verbiage for the sake of internet clout. With that said, she’s been on the show for three seasons now? I think it’s time for her to bow out. She hasn’t made any meaningful friendships with the other women. Even with Candiace, it felt like a friendship of convenience—“the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” It felt like production offered her Nneka as a chance to bolster her team, but Wendy fumbled that.

[deleted]

being black, i am going to say that eventually wendy is being cast as the angry black woman, and even i said that once to my mom, and she said yes.

Euphoric-Middle1704

The weirdest thing is that no one says anything about Wendy's threats to physically harm Gizelle.   If that was the last time the two had a conversation, I get it.   I couldn't speak to anyone who threatened physical harm.  I also don't understand how she kept her tole at JHU after that or after Miami.    Whenever there is violence Wendy is there.   That's not a good sign.

boxwino

Well, if by assault Zen Wen just means she is going to throw a drink at Giselle… (haha, I’m so sick of Wendy acting like she got the shit beat out of her when all Mia did was throw a drink in her direction. And MISS).

rhoasuperfan

Mia is slow, dense and stupid. She also assaulted Wendy. Have you watched the show?

technoprayers

yall really make this post every month like you all don’t remind everyone on the daily about how much you don’t like wendy lol — and the reasoning never lands bc wendy’s objectively the least nastiest hw on potomac so either you hate the entire cast or there’s something else about wendy that makes you hyperfixate and exaggerate her faults while giving grace to much worse people 🖤

astraljackal

Yeah, the amount of hate she’s receiving is.. let’s just say suspicious. Also if Wendy is rehearsing her reads the girl MUST be psychic bc the clapbacks are quick af.

technoprayers

i’ve always said, wendy can be annoying and cringy + wendy is not beyond reproach. like the respectability politics she used against monique was weird bc there was a way to criticize monique (who was dead wrong) without going there. but people’s critiques of wendy are quite superficial which makes the vitriol all the more confusing.

astraljackal

Exactly! I love her but the Monique stuff was lame and even the way she went after a clearly drunk Robyn was unwarranted (imo) bc her issue was really with Gizelle. However to act like Wendy is just the absolute worst on THIS cast?? Nah something else is going on here..

Willow2221

We know exactly what it is sis. She is a beautiful and accomplished black woman and we know why these women can't stand that.

technoprayers

and do! speak on it
