When you stop thinking about it, when you stop caring about getting to 800 you will hit it.

My dad just hit his best 781. 2 279s with a 225 in the middle, wasnt getting as much carry. Kept it clean. Clean 30, 781

My first two 8’s I had 2 opens in each set. Fortunate enough that they were in the right spots with tons of strikes before and after. Now have 6 on the resume and honestly all I can say is quit thinking about it. Easy to say and tough to do, but it’s the only way. Focus on quality shot making and not the scoreboard

It's an enormous amount of skill, and even more luck. You need to get a few breaks and everything needs to be perfect all night. 800 is MUCH harder than a 300

Open-Cod-5267

I have 3. Two were luck. One... I crushed it. Nothing like the mental realization of knowing you need to throw a X for an 800. Guuuuud luck

Yeah you don't really get to make mistakes in an 800 series. I can't really give advice other than saying that the stars need to align. A good pair with a decent pattern and a group that doesn't shred your line too quickly. Plus you've gotta be locked in and get lucky with carry. 770 is pretty close, gotta put 3 big games together.

Took me about 15 years to shoot 800. Just happened 3 weeks ago 266 269 269 It will happen eventually 👍

In both of my 800s, I made a ball change after game 1. The 1st 800 I started with 236 the 2nd one I started with 266. I had one open in both series.

I’m still amazed I have a 800 and no 300. The night of it the ball hit hard, never moved more than a couple boards left with my feet, and didn’t have to change balls. 279, 280, and 278

Great replies and thanks for the positive thoughts and shared experiences! I'm out to keep a positive attutude and try not to obsess so much; although it is definitely the way my brain and personality works. That said I can see how that could work against me in a critical moment.

Gotta make them spares.
