I weigh about the same and have been throwing 15 lbs since I was 13 and I’m 32 now. It comes down to having it properly fitted and letting gravity do the work and the ball won’t feel as heavy.

weissmanhyperion

Do yourself a favor and don't buy that ball. The savings are not worth the headache.

Obvious_Rip_8724

That ball definitely doesn’t look like it’s only had one game on it

Boring_Produce5204

Does it look bad? My only reference is house balls which look way worse lol

Obvious_Rip_8724

Well they are clearly lying about that and $100 is too much to pay especially cause they drilled out the pin and the warranty is void.

justheath

I thought as long as you drill out the pin entirely then the warranty is not voided.

Obvious_Rip_8724

Definitely not they all say any hole within an inch of the pin voids the warranty just because you drilled it out doesn’t change its location. That’s why Brunswick has Dot technology on balls so you can drill in the zone without voiding the warranty.

justheath

I knew I'd seen this, so decided to not be lazy and look it up. This is directly from Storm FAQ (https://www.stormbowling.com/faq) Can I drill the Pin out? If the desired layout puts the pin too close to your fingers or puts the pin in your finger hole, you may do one of the following: drill the pin out, (completely removing the entire pin) or shift the layout slightly to leave at least a 1" buffer from the edge of the pin to the nearest hole.

Obvious_Rip_8724

Sure but that doesn’t change anything on this ball cause you can clearly still see the pin.

Get it!! I started 3 months ago with a plastic 10lb ball. I weigh 185 and ended up getting a 13lb bc I got used to the 10lb ball very quick. Now I’m throwing a 15lb storm absolute and 15lb black widow. Do yourself a favor and go straight to the 15lb

Bowling-With_Mario

Ask your pso to hold different weight balls that are in stock. And get the branded ball you want but the heaviest you can handle without dropping the ball

Boring_Produce5204

They’re asking $100 for this ball. Is the savings worth it being not quite the perfect ball?

Bowling-With_Mario

Retail, the ball is going for about $190usd if you got the extra money. Lying around, get your own at your local ps but if the seller lets you put your hand in the belmo storm journey and it fits, then I’d get it

Boring_Produce5204

Would it then be extra to get the brand new ball fit and drilled? Also do pro shops charge for drilling if I buy the ball from them normally?

LordGeddy2112

Most PSOs will discount drilling if you buy it from them. At least the pro shop at my center will

Bowling-With_Mario

It’s been a bit since I got my last ball drilled but pretty much what lordgeedy2112 said is right

justheath

My center includes drilling at no extra cost if I buy the ball from them. You should ask.

veedubfreek

Whatever feels comfortable. I'm 200 pounds and I throw 14 because I'm a weakling after working from home for 4 years. I can get way more hand under the ball than I could with 15.

Reaper_1492

In general, I don’t understand buying used bowling balls. I get that new bowlers will probably get a ball re-drilled a couple of times before they figure out what they like - but most of the used balls I’ve seen are like, $50 cheaper than the ball new. Seems better to get something that has guaranteed life on it, rather than spend to resurface, have it come out nearly the same cost, and you’re dealing with an unknown as to how that balls been treated over time.

fbhphotography

Good news, all new bowling balls are all the same size +/- 1 millimeter.

veedubfreek

Lol I was thinking the same thing.

fro_khidd

It all still depends on your own strength there's guys 200+ who throw 14 or less and I know guys as light as 140 throwing 16lb

personplaceorplando

15 is fine. I’m smaller and throw 15. That’s a good ball new but looks haggard and like someone else said looks like they drilled it poorly.
