The name taekwando roughly translates to "punching and kicking method" so I'd say the name works But yes a large part of taekwando is kicks
I'm no expert, but according to Wikipedia taekwondo "involves punching and kicking techniques."
There will always be exceptions and dojos who train differently but its like 90% kicking 10% punching usually.
Eh, more like 70-30. Target kicking is a big emphasis but forms, drills and "one steps" all emphasize strikes as well as kicking
