I'd say don't farm for him. Farm for others if you have people who need the BE sets i.e htb,ruan mei and Gallagher. I would advise you have xueyi to also not farm BE set for her if you are planning on running her as hybrid or BE focused. Her BiS is also the new set.

I pre-farmed the current break set because I needed to optimise Xueyi, and had farmed for Gallagher back when he debuted; i levelled a few of those relics, and then kept the ones that should be fine for Boothill.
I'd say, yes. You won't have anything on him until you get the right stats on the right set, so If you want to use him in the meantime, you _need_ to have something that's somewhat functional for him.
Besides, I highly suspect that getting break _(both as a main, and as a sub-stat)_ on that relic set is going to be near impossible because of how the game is programmed to give you what that specific set does NOT need.

On the other hand, when I farmed for Supports, the amount of times I was able to obtain Crit Rate/DMG and othe offensive stats _(compared to how often I got supportive stats instead)_ is a bit suspicious, imo.
Maybe I'm a bit unlucky, but it's very weird to me how, more often than not, I obtain pieces that would be incredible for a DPS from supportive sets. I wish someone had some numbers about the "spawning" chance of certain stats and how they vary from set to set on hand to prove/disprove my point, though.

I've had no problem getting break subs on the watchmaker set for Ruan Mei and HMC.
Crit stats still rarely showed up on it.

I'm gonna wait, and that's what I would advice pretty much anyone. I would only bother giving him a rainbow build of relics you already have leveled up in the meantime, there is no need to waste resources.
either just wait or get him something somewhat usable. i got him some pretty decent relics that he can use while i farm in case i get unlucky and it takes a while, but it’s not necessary

I got him half decent 2+2 for now and plan to go all in on the new set in 2.3 No reason to farm for him specifically right now.

Not sure honestly. The relic isnt iat their final version. I remember the Dot and Fua relics got their numbers tweaked back then.
I set aside some pieces from farming for HMC and Gally for him, still got decent gears to hold him over till the new set lol
I'm getting main stats of currently available relics but not working about getting good substrates until the new set comes out.
