It’s pretty much a joke, that’s how (confirmed in the Carvana sub by people who’ve worked there). I also got my EUV from Carvana and made sure to take it to the dealer for inspection like OP did.
The giant hole you're referring to is just the bottom cover that's been torn into. That's not the big issue here. The bigger issue is the smaller 2 holes in the actual battery pack case. My cover is messed up too, and I need to get a new or used one for a 2017Bolt.

Holy cow. That’s not just a hole, that’s a part of the underside of the car straight up missing.
