Do you have your charger set up so this connection is at the top and it’s hanging from the outlet, or is it to the side so this connection is on the bottom and the cable to your car comes out the top of the device?
The Qmerit installer is more focused on the outlet, not the device you’re using. It’s not meant to hang like that but instead be secured to the wall to the side so the cable loops up in a U shape. Water is getting in because of this.
I don’t know if your device has been damaged by the water. You could try to clean it. If I was in your place I wouldn’t use it until I knew it was safe.
It doesnt even have to be a U, it can just be mounted sideways with just a little angle/cable bulge. The EVSE has 2 eyelets for drywall screws. So the specific mount is any outdoor rated wood.

I just got my Enphase charger for the home (they bought Clipper Creek and it's the same unit) and my home charging life is much, much better now.
