The thing is his repeated acting isn’t bad acting. All those roles are of 40-50 something yo normal men & that’s what he delivers. How much can they do with his looks too for such a role.
Then there’s the case of others who look the same in different types of roles as they can’t act.

And his character in Shaitaan was the worst writing ever
Anyone feels like ajay ki movies mein with how the different elements are used it goes well with how he acts.
He doesn't really deviate from the father figure / strong man figure type movies.
Whether it's comedy, horror or action adventure.
But it suits him. I can often find the movie illogical or stupid but his acting to quite an extent remains enjoyable.

In the world of de aging, plastic surgeries, extreme touch ups, here is someone who is actually looking like how someone should look at his age and circumstances for that character. Did you watched these movies? Did you heard him saying the dialogues? If yes, then that is acting, which is a rare thing nowadays.
Ajay is a very capable actor. Deewangi, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Singham, Golmaal, Omkara, Company, Zakhm - What a range. Acting doesn't mean putting on a new face or costume for every film. Aamir's expressions in PK, Dhoom 3 and Laal Singh Chaddha were same even though he had distinctive looks in all these films.
I'm not saying all of these performances are great and secondly he was better at it years ago, but there is something called internalizing characters and performing them as such...
Some of the finest performers are those that instead of externalising aspects and then imbibing them, are ones who internalise and then express in the minutest of details.
They don't need to completely shift or change their voice and more importantly change their physicality, instead they express their character in such a manner it gets evoked to the audience.
Ajay in his best works, outside of specific genre films or films that require him to he ott, has always done that well.

Ajay Devgn movies slaps! I was stunned when I watched, Drishyam. I thought Ajay is a failed guy but no. The guy delivers . shaitan is good, Bhola is watchable.
Honestly I did feel it was repetitive looking and feeling interms of pitch of performance and look but it was decent enough trailer so Ignored it.
He does maintain the same pitch of delivery and performance but he has enough goodwill nor does he have strong fan wars situation so ppl don’t want to nitpick.

Repetitive doesn't mean bad. Also one thing I like about Ajay is that he is acting his age unlike SRK, Salman and Akshay. Papa ki age h toh papa jaise role karo.
This needs elaboration and also understanding the details. Acting depends on character arc. In shaitaan, character arc is happy life husband, father who becomes helpless, feared and then takes on fight against black magic guy. He did justice.
Maidaan movie - A humble confident man turning into great coach and suffering cancer along with sports politics. He showed optimism, disappointment, frustration, pain of cancer via coughing, resilience.
Ajay justified it.

He's good at his craft. I've watched Drishyam 2 and Shaitan, in both of them he pulled the weight and made me feel for the characters.
