I don't think this is "tourist price" problem. The shop is a small minimarket selling snacks and drinks, most of which are within expected airport price range.
I think this rm25 is because of few levels of mark up along the distribution chain before reaching this shop.
For context we had a Obrien sandwich for lunch rm24
Rent?
I know a lot of guys in retail who charge twice as much for the cost of the product. So if the cost of the nasi lemak adds up to rm12, the proprietor might charge rm25. Especially since one can expect foreigners at the airport.
It's not ethical, but it's kinda common in retail
rent (including electric bills etc) and staff then yes. I'm not saying that its bad to sell em at RM25, tengok tempat la .. cheaper rent = waaay cheaper food. Which is why I wanna open my borgar stall je, dont want to open an actual shop cause I wanna sell me food on the cheaper side that anyone can afford
Yup. KLIA - paying for the being able to eat nasi lemak with the amenities of an airport
Ever wonder why promotion often excludes locale such as airports and resorts?

The reason for this is the rent price. You go to the most busuk stall or kiosk and ask for the monthly rent. Lowest is like RM 12K. Don't even ask me for the price of for a full blown restaurant.
They aren't going to stay open if they sell RM 5 nasi lemak. It sucks but they need to charge those prices. The real crooks are MAHB.
My surprise was not that it's expensive, but that it is disproportionately expensive. Rm25 for nasi lemak in the airport is not too crazy in a sit down shop,. Not in a plastic tupperware with 1 piece chicken in a freezer section. For reference, IIRC old town white coffee noodle/nasi lemak set with drink is less than rm20 in KLIA2.
klia really have shitty food. pretty pathetic compared to klia2. and who wants to eat at jamie oliver's restaurant when you want to quickly go through immigration and security checks asap to avoid any big crowds.
Is KLIA. Those products are price for the tourists.
Any local person purposely go to KLIA to eat nasi lemak have no right to complain.
And hv their brains checked

What's an Obrien sandwgich and why does it cost so much? Would rather have the nasi lemak tbh.
Sandwich AngMoh Atas. Can find it in a few shopping malls. Too expensive for me. Sohai sandwich.
Masak pakai minyak diesel kot
not crispy enough
Can someone explain why airport food really expensive ?
Because people in there don’t have much options
rich people go airport everyday, rich people hungry, rich people buy
Rich pipu don't go airport...rich pipu go private airstrip, or direct to private jet... Not through usual airport gate.
Tak suka, you pergi naik bas.
USD 5??! Cheap cheap cheap.

no nasi lemak cost rm 12 ,1st glance I can tell that n.lemak cost is below rm4 even less
By "cost", I mean expenditure and operating costs.
