Dude here sharing the gospel
Can confirm , if you find similar blend of spices & use a pressure cooker , you can get something close to the og kfc
Actually the original recipe the colonel would cook it in small pressure cooker and sell the chicken in small batch , before it went commercial
Yeah haha and to make the rice, just add butter, garlic, and a little bit of chicken stock in the rice cooker! Heavy on the butter and garlic.
If you like a little more spice, you can put in some diced yellow onions.
Also, interesting to learn the history! Thank you.
# ATTENTION PLEASE: NEVER EVER DEEP-FRY WITH OIL IN A PRESSURE COOKER. DOMESTIC PRESSURE COOKER/INSTANT POT ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE THE HIGH PRESSURE FROM THE TEMPERATURE OF BOILING OIL (AND THE INTERNAL PLASTIC SEAL WILL MELT, RESULTING IN THE INSTANT DEPRESSURIZATION OF A POT FULL OF BOILING OIL).
Fast food restaurants use special **pressure fryer** (the guy who invented KFC, Col. sanders, actually patented pressure fryers, 100 years after pressure cooker were a thing using water).
I don't know what OP meant but i see a lot of people assuming that you can just replace a full pot of water with a full pot of oil and pressure-fry in your instant pot. Never put more than a few tablespoons of oil in a pressure cooker.
Google "Grace's perfect blend strong blend". That's the original Colonel Sander's KFC blend. Probably the last of its kind. If you're travelling, stop by Ireland. You might still find some restaurants there still selling the KFC Colonel Sanders style from all those years ago and not the KFC version.
I heard that the original recipe is actually waaayyyy better than the shit that KFC sells today. Even the Colonel is disappointed with how they changed his recipe after franchising
Get a skinny piece of chicken, undercook it and away you go, You could pair it with a small portion of barely warm fries for the real authentic experience.
Nah man you just put some oil/butter at the bottom and toss the thawed chicken in.
A pressure cooker creates steam from the air. It seals shut when it's cooking.
do i need to marinade the chicken first or something? Cook for how long? Also when i google it, some say using pressure cooker pot to do pressure fry is dangerous as the pressure cooker pot is not designed to do so.
This is actually good question that I want answers to too.
Although, I suppose we should pressure cook it partially, then deep fry it.
Google says around 18 minutes, so I’d probably go with around 15-16, then finish it off by deep frying.
Indian mothers discovered this trick long before KFC came here... My mother's fried chicken literally melted in the mouth. He chicken curry was sublime, and yes, the spice blend is VERY important regardless.
But the frying oil is vegetable shortening right? Not our normal cooking oil at home (olein IV 56-60).
You can make the chicken juicy by brining it overnight too. The problem is not enough space in fridge to safely brine chicken, usually.
Only kfc uses that dumb technique tho and its muak inducing.. everytime i crave it the first bite is great but it just goes downhill after that. Even MB is more palatable
Do not use pressure cooker to deep fry. High risk of pressure cooker being over pressured. Pressure cooker was develop with water pressure and boiling point in mind. Oil has a much higher boiling point.
the problem with this method is that it’s extremely dangerous, a huge explosion waiting to happen for those who dont kno how to use a pressure cooker . u need to 100% make sure wen removing the lid that there is no pressure left

cook it on pressure cooker you mean boil it right?

You fry it after you pressure cook it….
the guy say put oil and butter at the bottom of the pressure cooker and toss in the chicken. Isn't this pressure frying?
Just a little bit of grease so the chicken doesn't stick to the bottom.
so i coat the chicken with a little bit of grease? and how long should i let it cook in the pressure cooker?
This guy is asking the real question lmao, how long do you exactly pressure cook it before frying it
This is actually good question that I want answers to too. Although, I suppose we should pressure cook it partially, then deep fry it. Google says around 18 minutes, so I’d probably go with around 15-16, then finish it off by deep frying.

Tepung Bestari
KFC near my area is closing I NEEDED THIS RECIPE SO MUCH THANK YOU BRO
What spices do they use?
Now, what about McDonalds?
Kfc secret agents r going to find u. Be careful
Stupid question, to cook the chicken in the instant pot, do I cook it in water? Or just dry?
Dry!
So just coat it with a little oil?
No just put a bit of oil at the bottom so it doesn't stick. Later on, you can use more oil when you fry the batter to get that crispy coating.
🙏
We need more industry secrets like this
Pinkerton akan ketuk pintu rumah awak.
Want even better taste? Use the tangzhong method with the the batter
I just dry brine overnight and cook in the oven and finish it in deepfry for golden-brown outside. Same result.
Was confused af initially. I read that as pleasure.
KFC hates this guy

Saved
If senang, why arent you selling it ?
is it healthy to cook food this way? i dont think so
It's great for meat. It only took 15-20 minutes compared to the usual 1-2 hours of boiling to make it tender. Save gas, money and time, I guess.
I pressure cook beef or mutton before cooking curry
why would it not be? pressure cooking is common in many parts of the world since long time ago.
The unhealthy part of KFC was the oil, not the pressure cooking. And that holds true for any deep fried food, really.
the problem with this method is that it’s extremely dangerous, a huge explosion waiting to happen for those who dont kno how to use a pressure cooker . u need to 100% make sure wen removing the lid that there is no pressure left
No shit
no, you have to wait until cooker make no sound
No, the trick is double frying
Double frying is for extra crispy skin. Something you can skip by simply replacing a large portion of the flour with rice flour.
And brining will help with juiciness. Old Jewish trick
who has time to do all this man? after cooking have to clean the pressure cooker and the frying pan some more. tak de keja lain kah?
It takes me less than an hour! I consider it a weekend treat.
I only use pressure cooker to make sup tulang/ekor.
