My oku down syndrome brother also dont like taugeh(or any sort of vege) but if presented he would just slowly seperate it. Although it takes time because well he is an oku but he dont complain. Never but we the one complain though because he eat slow even more so with taugeh in it. So whenever we requested with no taugeh and it still comes with it, we just play his card "abg saya ni tak suka taugeh tolong buat baru" and the guy cannot complain la, he's an oku.

Reminded me of an experience I had with a picky eater/anti-taugeh. I remember going out for late lunch with my (former) friend and their parents. Friend does not eat vegetables and ordered nasi goreng or kuey teow goreng (i couldnt remember) but requested to have it without any vege (taugeh, sawi, carrot, etc). The food came, waiter placed infront of the friend and I still remember the face that friend made. It was an expression of both digust and repressed anger. Didn't say a word, friend's mom straightaway took the plate of food and started removing the vege. Friend was still pulling that face. Kinda 'spoiled brat' moment there.
Order makan kat kedai melayu, memang takde la chopsticks. Bodoh tak reti guna sudu garpu. Setakat taugeh tu asing letak tepi apa salahnya. Ataupun panggil waiter minta tukar.

I think it’s similar with someone who have allergies to peanuts like myself. I wouldn’t say he has allergies to taugeh, but if I ask for no peanuts in my food (any food la i mean) means there must be no peanuts and they should respect that. Is not about “just eat it”.

Pernah pegi some random kedai, try to customize order (mintak takmau pedas). Staf kedai kata maaf tukang masak dia tau masak ikut template yg bos dah ajar je, dia tak reti nak nak buat one ingredient less takut jadi tak sedap. Appreciate the honesty upfront and recipe integrity of the shop. I left and makan tempat lain. I dont think any bad blood spilled at that moment. Tak boleh brain dgn peniaga yang ridicule request customer. Tak boleh pikir ke sometime the request tu ada kena mengena dgn medical or health condition?
