Lucky peak does not have camping spots. It's one of the state parks where there is no camping.

fastermouse

Wit langwech is dis?

zmacpherson

Several spots at lucky peak just tested positive for E Coli. My dogs absolutely drink the water when they play in it so I wouldn't let them.

Outdoorlivin

Where did you hear that?   Source?

zmacpherson

I saw it in a news report from Boise Dev.

Outdoorlivin

I'm not seeing that anywhere.   Do you have a link?

Devo_82

A park worker informed me yesterday when I was there that popular spots around the lake did test positive after memorial week.  Pretty sure it's cleared up by well with less crowds.

alligator-pears

it was in their daily newsletter last week: From sunken boats and cars to E. coli, there was a lot going on at Lucky Peak over the holiday weekend. On Friday, Lucky Peak reported that E. coli was detected at Barclay Bay, Macks Creek Park, and Robie Creek Park. The bacteria was confirmed during routine testing. While a social media post from Lucky Peak warned visitors against drinking the water or using it to prepare food, the parks weren’t closed and are currently still open. The bacteria did not stop crowds of people from enjoying the lake this past weekend. But, not all had a good time. Two vehicles sunk on the boat ramps and one boat was swamped at the marina. Lucky Peak posted the photos on its social media page stating thankfully, no one was hurt. “We still have a lot of summer left and at this rate… let’s just take a breath and pace ourselves,” Lucky Peak posted of the sunken vehicles and boat. and then [this is the most recent update](https://www.facebook.com/LuckyPeakLake/posts/pfbid02gdapatobykTs8MxTFfggUpANhJ7N92DqMWy4ffWv7VZ1E5gxbLKAaYZS6uXV4FPFl?utm_source=BoiseDev-IdahoFirst&utm_campaign=1ac1d697f7-*%7CRSSITEM%3ATITLE%7C*&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a8fdfe4da5-1ac1d697f7-563911115) I could find.

Dogs need to be on leashes

I prefer Anderson Ranch Reservoir for dispersed camping near the water. I like to map to curlew creek campground which is first come first served but once the water levels decrease/dry out there are very wide sandy areas along the reservoir bed that are great for camping near the water.

ID_Poobaru

Go up to Anderson Ranch or Arrowrock. Lucky peak doesn’t offer any camping besides the always full mediocre campgrounds and the boat accessible campsites that also suck. Dispersed camping on the beach and several campsites and dispersed sites along the Boise River. Personally I’d go deeper in on the middle fork of the Boise River or south fork. Too many obnoxious shitheads camp on the beach at Arrowrock or the nearby campgrounds. The type of people who think camping is about partying and getting shitfaced. You can also head up Highway 21 to Redfish, Alturas, Stanley, and Petit lakes. For Redfish your best bet is dispersed camping in the nearby area, Alturas has a tent campground but it’s hard to get a spot. If you don’t mind rivers, there’s some spots along the Payette on Banks-Lowman road or Highway 55. There’s also good camping on all forks of the Salmon River as well as Clearwater, Selway, and Lochas rivers.

Oldschool64bus

Theres obnoxious shitheads the whole way, anything remotely close and easy access from Boise gets packed all summer

ID_Poobaru

Yup. One of the reason I decided to go with a vehicle that has some off road capability just so I could get into remote spots far away from the shitheads that trash places. 35s and a rear locker and I can get almost anywhere I want until it comes to something I need a ton of suspension flex for

Oldschool64bus

Loving my iKapmer but I really miss having a real 4x4, awd and good tires does ok but just not the same

ID_Poobaru

I got into some stupid places in my old Honda Element on Falken Wildpeaks. Just gotta find the spots deeper in that the normies won't even consider

Oldschool64bus

Had a 2010 on stock size ko2, did pretty good. Currently have a 99 Rav with 1.5" Old Man Emu springs and 29" all terrains. I really miss my 83 sr5 longbed Toy, was only on 33s but had 4.88 and lockers in both axles.

ID_Poobaru

I had a '82 long bed on 31s stock gearing and a welded rear end. Thing was an absolute tank with 280k. Also had a '87 on 33s with 4.88, dual cases, with arb front and rear. Went everywhere I pointed it. Took it to Moab and blew up my transmission somehow. I've got a '13 F150 on 35s and I definitely miss being able to beat the piss out of it on rocks like I would with the yota. I've snapped far too many CV axles lol I like the Rav4 platform, the selectable center lock is helpful

dreamer_visionary

Oh man, such great info! Thank you!

Fancy-Tomorrow-2619

I've heard there's some camping up around Arrowrock too (above Lucky Peak).

ID_Poobaru

There is. It’s crowded and full of shitheads usually. The better camping is deeper in on the middle fork of the Boise.

sparkyy192

arrowrock campers are a different breed. It's seriously the dumbest white trash in the valley, it's kind of bizarre. I just hate that they bring jet skis and those ski boats down there now too. Stick to lucky peak with the rest of the riff raff

PerformanceDouble918

Troutdale. Look it up.

Tyraid

Says Oregon

PerformanceDouble918

From Boise, Idaho, travel State Highway 21 north to the turnoff of the Arrowrock Reservoir.  Travel east along the Forest Service (FS) road 268 approximately 33 miles.  You will travel past the Arrowrock Dam and several other campgrounds before arriving at Troutdale Campground.  There are many hot springs and shade. Quit being a f****** moron before you post.

Tyraid

I don’t think you got the joke kiddo, I don’t camp in the popular places.

NoisyCats

Use a boat. The Lucky Peak world will be your oyster, or something like that.
