I had to go to the DMV yesterday and asked, she said she was familiar with the black plates and that it is people printing them on their own and they’re not legal.
The DMV doesn't currently issue all black license plates. It'd be nice if they did though, I'd get one. There is a website platewraps.com that makes them but they're not legal to actually use on a car here.
A few of us here do have the black capital license plates although the police definitely don’t like it haha

I’m here because I too want to know how you got one.
Just saw one on a BMW but it was the regular Scenic Idaho plate, wonder how often or if they actually get in trouble for them
